2017-2018 Seton Hall - Hackensack Meridian

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
did anyone who interview on the 12th get an admissions decision or was it just people from the first interview group? just trying to gauge how many interview group they're making decisions on every week

Hypothetically, what would happen if one holds multiple acceptances after the deadline?
After the deadline, each applicant should be holding only one acceptance. Schools are free after that date to deal as they see fit with applicants who are holding multiple acceptances without adequate explanation (such as a delay in receiving financial aid information). So my suggestion is to call each school and ask what will happen. If you don't, then be prepared for anything.

It's okay that it does, I'm just confirming. Some of the early acceptees may have to make a quick decision if they are holding other acceptances.
Yup. It forces those who have multiple acceptances to choose only one so that med schools have a better idea of how many students they will have. It also gives other students (who may not have received an acceptance) a chance.
I imagine a situation where a student received a second acceptance a few days before the deadline and must make a quick decision on where to go. But by that time you should have received all the information (financial aid package) needed to make a decision.

Does anyone have ANY idea on the screening process they go through? It seems like people who applied later got interviews first and in general there seems to be no correlation between LM score, IS or OOS, and date the application was sent in.

That's pretty much how every school is unfortunately haha

Hi just wondering would seton hall take any international applicants at this time?

I could not find any of those information online but apparently new school and those not fully accrediated (nova southesatern, Oakland, calmed) would only take us citizens and green card holders. Is this also true for seton hall?

Thanks all!

Your best bet is to call the school. I’d hate for you to get incorrect advice.

Tried calling and got transferred a lot between different offices and did not get a conclusive response.

Although I just checked on AAMC MSAR and it says NO to both Canadian and International. Not sure would that be the answer I am looking for......

Hey, Was accepted last week but was wondering if theres any facebook pages for accepted students or anything to search for a roommate?

Hey all, I like to creep on the interview schedule every once in a while. Currently, there's still 3 slots open for May 17th, 12 slots available for May 22nd, and the last three dates are still open. So there's still 63 open slots for interviews, good luck to everyone still waiting to hear from them!

Just got an II!!!
They received my application on the 4th of April and the last available date was the 17th of May! (LM- 76, IS). Extremely excited!!! Good luck to all of you! Hang in there! Will share details about the interview!
Congrats! I told you!

Where do you see the interview schedule? My II email only shows my date.

Ha, someone else messaged me asking that. After scheduling my interview, I got an email from signupgenius.com reminding me about my interview. I clicked on the link and created an account. I can now log in and see all the dates. They may have stopped sending people the link because they realized we could see everything... Happy to keep updating every once in a while about available openings.

just wondering how many days after interviewing have people been finding out if they are accepted

hopefully those of us interviewing in may are not interviewing for the waitlist, but its useless to speculate on these things.

For the first week of applicants(regardless of whether they interviewed on Tuesday or Thursday) received acceptance calls the following week on Friday

Did anyone who interviewed the first week hear anything other than an outright acceptance? Including not hearing back yet?

I know someone from last weeks interview got an acceptance which is kind of before Friday

I was just going off of the information I had, it’s a new school so we’re all learning as we go 🙂 congrats to your friend tho!

For anyone who has interviewed/been accepted. Do they offer additional scholarships at the time of acceptance? I ask because as decisions come after April 30th we will have a very short time to choose.

This school is my top choice and I really want a chance to be interviewed. I have a LM of 68.5 with good extracurriculars (very heavy on the research side). Do I have a chance? I am losing hope because it seems like their class is getting complete 🙁

Can anyone advise if the interview is open book or not?
Additionally, when does the school expect you to apply for residency if they are a 3yr program, and does the 30% reduction apply to inaugural class all yrs?

Open except for GPA/MCAT. You could apply for one of the hospital network’s residencies if you do three years, if you wanted a different residency you would do four years and apply like normal. And yes

Are the three-year Hackensack Meridian residencies constrained by specialty selection at all? IK that they don't have a lot of things to begin with, but what about the more competitive programs that they do have (Derm, Gen surg etc.); any indication that these wouldn't be available to the med school's early grads (thus making the option basically a 3-year PCP/IM track that a lot of other schools have)?

Nonetheless very excited to visit for my II!

It seems as if its for specialties offered by Hackensack.

Clinical Departments - Seton Hall University

No derm but they have ortho, ophtho, ENT, Rads, Gas. Pretty competitive specialties and those would be 3 years (would probably need a research year thrown in tho).

Interesting, I was going off of this list of HMH programs that someone posted a while back: HMH Residencies - Seton Hall University

In your list, doesn't the presence of an academic department not necessarily guarantee that HMH has a residency program for that field? Or what is the difference between these two listings?

And yeah, 3 years is of course assuming you can get the necessary pubs, probably independent of the school. If not a research year is def needed.

I believe the derm program they have is DO only right now (only see DO residents) so Im assuming the list on the school page is for all MD available fields. Not 100% sure but im sure you can ask at the interview.

That makes sense, thanks. And yeah, really as long as the 3-year isn't boxed into FM/IM etc that'd be fine by me.

For sure I'll ask. While trying not to sound too presumptive haha

They said there will be programs they don’t have (but they’re looking at adding more and also more spots) and if they don’t have it you can do the fourth year and apply elsewhere

Super late to the game, but I was wondering if anyone knows whether MCAT scores need to be received by the deadline to apply? I am a non traditional student and only just found out about the opening of this program. My MCAT score won't be released until June but all other aspects of my application can be submitted by May.
