2017-2018 Seton Hall - Hackensack Meridian

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
And all my friends are waitlisted,
and I hate this club,
because I flew so much,
Another Friday night I'm waiting
My school list is black and blue
I'm trying to get off of you, babe

Waitlist! Out of state. Does anyone know if we can have any idea about where we are on the waitlist? A previous school I was waitlisted at told us which third (top third, middle, bottom third). I am going to send an email about this, wondering if anyone else has heard anything. Already have an MD acceptance but was excited for the 30% off and being near some extended family. I need to get an apartment etc at the other school...any thoughts on how to do that when on a waitlist somewhere else?

I think someone should find out if the list is even ranked since not all schools do that. Congrats on the other acceptance! I personally would go on with it since it's already June

Got a phone call Wednesday afternoon to offer me a spot, but haven't received anything via email. How long did it take people to get the award letter?

Is this school drug testing prior to starting? I haven’t heard anything but wanna make sure I’m not missing any ore requirements

Few days or so.

Did people get an official acceptance letter from the SOM with instructions on how to place deposit/general information on next steps separate from the financial aid package? It's been a week since I got the phone call and I've only received an email from the financial aid office which outlines the loans, cost of attendance, etc. But no info on how to place my deposit. I've tried emailing the SOM admissions email but haven't gotten a response yet so I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks!

@tmac_135689

When I first got the acceptance letter, it had information in it about sending a $100 deposit in.

Anyone going to the tour on Saturday? Did anyone get any more information after filling out the survey thing they sent to RSVP?

That's the thing I haven't gotten an acceptance letter...just the financial aid award package letter lol

I had the same issue. They said there was an error with the amcas delivery system that caused me to not get the acceptance email. What I did was reply to the financial aid email explaining my problem and asking for a contact person in admissions. The financial aid email is better at getting back to emails. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Yea I also ended up calling and similarly there was an error in the system.

Also July 9th is orientation? We don't have anything before then right? Trying to figure out a timeline to close loose ends at work.

What area code did you guys get when you got your acceptance call? Someone left a voicemail today for me at 862 but for some reason it disappeared lol.

The class is at 55 confirmed. I doubt there will be much if any waitlist movement.

The ribbon cutting day press reports (google "Ribbon Cut at Hackensack Meridian") say that there are 60 spots. Also, says 50% women and 50% NJ.

The FB group has 53 members: 31 male and 22 female.

Anyone know the actual admission plan?

Maybe they rounded? 60 sounds prettier than 55. That’s actually a pretty skewed gender ratio. I guess this means people are still dropping out

Edit- the article says ‘nearly 60’ so it sounds like it’s pretty much a rounding thing

If Hackensack Meridian Seton Hall SOM has received 50% of applications from women, why does the class have a disproportionate amount of men. Any thoughts?

Someone recently got off the waitlist to a different school who is in the class currently.

Should open up at least 1 spot.

Also there are probably a few in the facebook group currently who are off waitlists elsewhere.
I got off the waitlist someplace else but I ultimately decided on Seton Hall, if you're referring to me

Has anyone been taken off the waitlist yet?

I believe 1 spot has just opened up 🙂

As of this week, there's been a lot of movement on the list it seems. The FB page was at 54 a couple nights ago, then it was at 51 yesterday, it was at 53 early this morning and now sits at 52. And as another user mentioned to me, there's at least 1-2 people who are going elsewhere but supposedly want to stay a member of the group for the posts (idk what that means). Hopefully we'll see some actual movement

Anyone call/email to find out whether there’s any chance of waitlist movement

In the least inflammatory tone possible, I would suggest from her post history that she is URM.
Regardless of her status, she was probably very qualified. On a similar note though, the dean mentioned trying to up the numbers of URMs in the class on my interview day. Take that as you will

I agree. Just answering previous user's query regarding her statistically lower stats.

The school ended up taking 60 students instead of the originally planned 55, possibly due to receiving more money from the hospital.

Since classes start on Monday, at this point waitlist movement is essentially over.

Is this REALLY true? the FB group still has 55 People lol

That's weird - I submitted at the end of May and was verified early June. I received secondary from most my schools already and am very service oriented and have much higher than Oakland's minimum requirement, but haven't received a secondary yet.
You’re on the wrong thread for this man

Received email
Our admissions cycle for the Fall 2018 inaugural class is complete and all decisions have been made to seat the class. If you wish to be considered again you are welcome to apply to the Fall 2019 application cycle.
The waiting GAME is over
