2017-2018 Temple University

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just email them. I sent them an ITA email when I had my interview at the other Philadelphia school, they replied to me and said that they got my email and willl accommodate me if they can. I've heard nothing since then - which probably means I'm not getting an interview here. Hopefully you have better luck!

How long did it take for them to respond back?

Thanks for sharing! What days is Temple interviewing their applicants? My interview at another school is on Wednesday, so IF it does come through I don't want it to clash.

From when I was signing up, seems like Temple interviews on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Is there a general format to follow for ITA emails? I'll be in Philadelphia in late October coming from Colorado. I feel it's in my best interest to send an ITA email. Also, should I combine this email with an update email?

I called moments ago and left a message asking about their receptiveness to such emails. I'll update as I hear back.

What are people seeing as available interview dates at the moment?

This may be really dumb but in the II email it says to upload a "passport sized photo"...what have people uploaded? I don't know if they want like any recent photo or a headshot and if I should actually resize it to be "passport sized"...

I just uploaded the same picture I used for all my secondaries. It was a 2x2 picture. Mine was a picture from shoulders up

Okay, thanks! Did you interview yet and if so, how was it? Mines tomorrow and the nervousness is really starting to set in

I was originally scheduled for this week, but I had to change it. Good luck with your interview!!

Hey guys,

Current M1 at Temple. LMK if you have any questions!

Hello everyone, does anybody know if there is a way to submit an update letter to Temple? I was thinking about just asking their admissions e-mail if they are receptive to updates.

Can anyone comment on the parking situation for interviewees?

Under "supplemental items". It's greeted out but you can still click it and a bunch of upload options come up.

There's two parking garages. One right across the street from the med school, one on the other end of the hospital (like a 2 block walk). $12 for the day!

Hey, thanks. I didn’t see that, wow.

Hey, can you comment on your interview last year? What was the atmosphere like?

And what's the atmosphere like at Temple? Do you hang out with your fellow students outside of class? What's your daily schedule like?

Hey Bumblee,

My interview was actually pretty good. It's what you would expect with a couple of added twists. One thing I like about it is that you have a certain degree of independence throughout the day so you don't have interviewees breathing down your neck the whole time! They definitely had a nice room for the interviewees and I thought the day was just right. It's what you would expect from an interview day but without feeling completely overwhelmed.

It's a pretty big class of people ( 210 I think) and that will shrink to around 170-180 after this year when the St. Luke's kids leave. THe atmosphere is great tbh. I believe Temple did an amazing job of getting a diverse class that meshes really well together. The M2's are extremely nice to us and you really feel like you're a part of the community. You'll definitely make friends and create special bonds.

I hang out a lot with students outside of class. I have various groups of friends and I have 2 best friends. I probably see them outside of class every day of the weekend and a fair amount of days after class ( got lunch in center city today). On weekends people definitely enjoy going out and blowing some steam from the week of classes and its pretty common for everyone who goes out to end up at the same place. More often than not that will include some M2's as well.

I'll talk about my daily schedule now ( Block 2) that will probably remain similar going forward. Block 1 is gross anatomy so you have to be on campus every day. For block 2 you probably have to go to mandatory lectures 2 days a week for 2 hours each and then you go 1 day a week for 4 hours for workshops and conferences. All other days there are 4 lectures from 8-12 that I personally watch online. It's just the way I study and it works for me. Others will recommend going to class. There's no shame in finding the study schedule and pace that works for YOU. A typical day for me will probably be waking up around 8:30 and eating breakfast/getting ready. I'll then watch that same days lectures. I'll watch the first 2 lectures from 9ish-11ish and then probably take an 1/ 1.5 hour break for lunch before watching the last 2 lectures of the day. After this I'll take another 30 minute to an hour break before looking at lectures/notes from about 3:30/4 to 6ish. I'll then go to the gym and make dinner till 8ish. After this I'll look at Anki cards ( PRAISE) on the current subject and some old ones for 1/1.5 hours or until I finish. I might take a look at some content for the next day ( very briefly) before I call it a night and just relax for an hour.

Some blocks are going to be more demanding than others and thats just the way that things are. I'm sure that as the subject difficulty continually increases my free time will be less. It's all about finding the right schedule.

hope this helps. lmk if ther's any other questions

I know this question wasn't directed at me but I just recently interviewed and the day was very relaxed. Both of my interviewers were extremely friendly and asked very straightforward questions. Though I will warn you that some of the other interviewees did get healthcare policy questions (I was lucky and did not)

So I was checking my portal today and when I click on “apply online” it says it was modified on 10/4. Any idea what this means? I was complete and haven’t done anything else to my app since early August.

Applied in July, was modified 09/27 and 10/4. I don't think it means anything according to last year's thread.

I dont understand how the online portal for temple works. Is it just supposed to show your application? There's no button for status updates, communication updates, etc.

The portals allows you to upload documents to update your file, I think a max of 5 or something

Does anyone know what Temples interview day is like?
Two one on one interviews with physicians/faculty, two encounters with standardized patients and a short writing activity. The med students who gave our tour were very nice. It was a pretty relaxed day

Did anyone's portal get updated with acceptance decisions but not receive an email?

It's because they send acceptance letters not emails
