No idea how I just got an interview here as well. Didnt expect that on today of all days
Personal fit is definitely more important. But if you're torn between two schools then they're close enough in "personal fit" and picking the "best" one might be a wise decision for your future.Curious on opinions - do you think going to the "best" or personal fit is more important?
For what it's worth, I scheduled mine before receiving an official email and it was fine. They just update your portal first and then send a bulk email later that day.i would wait for the email. Don’t wanna repeat an Einstein situation lol (although I’m sure your invite is legit)
Contact admissions and tell them about that 12/9 interview, maybe they can let you into the 12/2 interview group? If not, 1/6 is fine, lots of people who interview in January still get in (mostly off the waitlist but who cares, they still get in).II today, but I had already scheduled another interview for 12/9. Would attending the 1/6 date be too late? Do they do a mass review of all the applicants before match day?
1. Yes you do need to respond, but you can accept as many pre-matches as you'd like, so no it isn't binding. So now I'm confused about the prematch process. Can any current students help answer these questions?
If I prematched,
1) Do we have to respond to the offer right now? (If so, it's not binding, right?)
2) Do we have to send them our fall 2017 grades if we are currently in undergrad? What about final grades for the 2017-2018 school year?
3) Do we have to update them on changes in planned coursework for spring 2018 (esp. if they are not related to premed requirements)?

To accept, we respond to the paper they are going to mail, right?1. Yes you do need to respond, but you can accept as many pre-matches as you'd like, so no it isn't binding.
2. You'll need to send your transcripts eventually so they can do a final check on the pre-requisites before matriculation, not sure exactly when, just read your email carefully for those instructions.
3. If not related to premed requirements, you should be fine not reporting changes.
I don't either unfortunately. But since some prematches always come around mid-December, I imagine 12/2 and 12/9 interviews will have been discussed by then!Should the 12/2 or 12/9 interviewees expect to see a few prematch offers or are they mostly waitlist acceptances as well? Interviewing on 12/2 and don't really know what my chances are
Yes, when you receive it you sign and mail it back I think. To accept, we respond to the paper they are going to mail, right?
Anyone know when financial aid comes in?
Excellent! On my interview day, if you’ve already submitted your FAFSA, they said they’ll start sending award letters at the end of November.
Is there a Facebook group for the class of 2022 yet?
Is the prematch showing up in anyone’s portal yet? Just want to make sure I wasn’t crazy when reading the acceptance email.
Question for anyone who can answer but a current student may know best: For those of use that interviewed on 11/11 but did not prematch yesterday, what are the chances that we could prematch later in the prematch period? Or are we probably just waiting on waitlist slots at this point?
I just checked and UTSW and UTMB are showing up, Long is not (those are the three at which I pre-matched). When I checked this morning around 7:00 AM, nothing was showing up.
Also II just now! I didn't submit a secondary though so what does this mean....error?
No I’ve heard of this happening before
Yes definitely do it before you go on your interview. So does this mean I need to fill out a secondary now?
Sorry if this has been brought up already, but what is the structure of the interview like at UTSW? Is the first day (Friday) just a day of tours and such, or are there interviews that day too? How many actual interviews do you have, and are they open/closed file, etc?
2 interviews total, both on Saturday. Friday is a completely informative session with no weight on your application status. I believe they’re both technically open file? Only one of my interviewers knew about me though. Meaning if it was open file they did not read it. Hope this helps!

Okay thanks! I didn't know there was a 12/2 date. Are there any other interview dates in Nov/Dec?
Can anyone give me a better idea of what the Friday afternoon session looks like? Is it something like an informal sit down with students, is there a tour, etc?
On my interview day, if you’ve already submitted your FAFSA, they said they’ll start sending award letters at the end of November.
Do merit awards not get sent out with the letter in a few weeks if you don't file FAFSA? I was under the impression that FAFSA doesn't play a role until early 2018.
I am also wondering whether financial aid reward will be mailed along with the official acceptance form. I was told at my interview that if you submit FAFSA early then they will have a financial aid package for you in November!

I called, they’re hoping to send financial aid at end of November, but said to for sure expect it within a month.I am also wondering whether financial aid reward will be mailed along with the official acceptance form. Don't give up yet, I just got an invite this week and there were dates available in Dec and Jan.I'm assuming if we haven't heard from UTSW by now, the chances for interview are slim to none?
same, let me know if you hear anything about this from the schoolOh man I've put off FAFSA because I expected the initial aid reward with the acceptance letter to be merit based.
Sure thing!same, let me know if you hear anything about this from the school
So I’ve got several friends who have similar stories. Some eventually get in, some don’t. I hate to be blunt, but this is a very competitive school and even some very qualified applicants are denied admission. I suggest the following: address potential application concerns with an update letter, and then prepare a letter of intent if that’s how strongly you feel about the school. I know it’s a scary spot, but do remember that many students withdraw from southwestern as they receive acceptances from other schools, which then opens more places in the class. Good luck!Hi guys. So I interviewed at UTSW in late September and did not receive a prematch offer. Does anynody know what this indicates in terms of my chances at this school? My LizzyM is 75, and I have average ECs but no research. I heard this school is very prematch heavy, and I can imagine they send the vast majority of prematch offers on the first day. Are my chances of matching here low? I ask because this school is my top choice.

I was told not to send a letter of intent unless I am waitlisted after match day. But I do certainly feel strongly enough that I would be willing to guarantee my attendence at UTSW if I were accepted. As for an update letter, as of now I have not done much (extra-curricular wise) that would warrant a letter. I have gotten good grades and will finish this semester strong, and I have continued working my job as a TA, but I have not done any additional volunteering, shadowing, or research.
I would wait until prematch and this semester is over so you at least have the grades to send them. No point in sending a letter when you have nothing to update and the prematch period is still open.
I can’t confirm nor deny that. You can always send a letter of interest that very strongly states your interest in attending. Either way, I expect a small pre-match wave once Baylor announces.I was told not to send a letter of intent unless I am waitlisted after match day.
