2017-2018 University of Toledo

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Apparently they are really close to being done evaluating their last interviewees, and they hope to get to the waitlist by the end of this week!

Thank you so much for calling!

Finally sent my letter of intent the other day! I'm so nervous. (I'm sorry if you thought this was a notification about interview decisions)

Where did you send your letter?

Also I know someone who gave up their acceptance spot so that's one more for us waitlist hopefuls!

Go to the same application portal where you filled out your secondary app. It should be under Document Upload.

Thanks for the info! I hope one of us gets the spot!

Hey! So I wasn't sure who reads the portal, so I sent my letter to Dr. Perry and I uploaded that same letter to the portal. Hope that helps!

Any news on waitlist or when they're gonna be done evaluating the last interviewees?

To those of you who have sent letters to Dr. Perry in addition to uploading to the portal: did she get back to you? I uploaded a letter to the portal a couple weeks ago, but without any confirmation of its receipt I'm stuck wondering if anyone put eyes on it. The longer the waiting drags on, the more anxious I get!

I sent my letter to the admissions email, dr. perry and the portal. The admissions committee got back to me that they received it and told me to upload it to the portal because they aren’t allowed to make changes to our applications themselves. Dr. perry never got back to me- but I assume she at least saw it since the admissions committee got back to me?
Anyone else got any insight?

Same! I bcc'd the adcom on my email, but Dr. Perry never responded.

So I just called the admissions office about the waitlist. They said that they haven’t even looked at it yet. They plan on looking at it in 2 weeks.

I think it would be good if someone was to call in a few days to see if anything changes. Because someone earlier in the form said that Toledo was going to start looking at the waitlist this week. I think it’s odd to get such different information.

I think it makes sense. They had the last interview date on May 18th, so until someone from May 18th gets notified I doubt they're even looking at the waitlist until all May 18th interviewees have been evaluated and a decision has been made for all of them.
I hope this makes sense.

For most posts I've read on SDN, people who are on the waitlist should just be patient. You haven't withdrawn so they know you still want to be considered, along with letters of interest. Also, we should start Plan B - I'm looking at research position jobs. No point in getting anxious about something you can't change!! Just the waiting game sucks. Try to stay positive everyone.

Well, they also told us that we'd hear back after 2-4 weeks at my interview, and it ended up being closer to 6. I think they vastly underestimate how long that stuff takes. Regardless, I was the one who called earlier and I don't want to be that guy that calls every week (everyone hates that guy, and that guy gets moved down on the waitlist for being annoying), so someone else can call. I'll just stay here marathon-watching The Office while eating too much chocolate to cheer me up because the wait is starting to get to me :bang:

They just followed me back lol, but it's a possibility. My first name is in my handle, but I doubt they're looking that far into things.

Are they waitlisting everyone or has anyone heard of someone who got declined after the interview?

I haven't seen any posts on SDN stating rejection post-II. Not to say it hasn't happened...

I imagine the waitlist will start to move within the next week or two. We're approaching 4 weeks since the final interviews (and I think the Adcom was caught up with decisions prior to the 5/17 & 5/18 interviews).

Just offered a position after being waitlisted
Congrats! I'm assuming notification came via email/portal?

Edit: also, did you send an LOI? Sorry for all the questions!

No you're good! Trust me I can relate xD

They did email me and portal was updated immediately. I did not send a LOI. However, I was pretty surprised when they waitlisted me because my stats were within range and I personally thought I rocked the interviews. I hope this doesn't make me sound cocky, I just wanted to put in perspective how I felt about the process.

Can somebody provide me with the portal link ? Or how to access it through google. Thanks 🙂

Is the waitlist considered to be unranked? Their original email was unclear.

So I just got an email from Toledo saying that they just started to look at the waitlist for their incoming class. It seems that it may be unranked, but I am not sure. They said in the email that they will base it off MMI score, final app score, and your description - race, gender, undergrad, etc. I have also heard from students at UT that the waitlist is ranked. There is no definite answer.

In an attempt to give those of you with more of a chance of admission than I some information, the email I received from Toledo just now in regards to their waitlist told me that I was unlikely to be offered a position in the entering class due to my current status on the list.

So I would say with confidence that the waitlist is ranked. If they didn't specifically tell you that you're unlikely to get in, I'd guess you still have a fighting chance. Just figured I'd try to shed some more light on the whole thing.

what exactly did they say?

I got that email too, and it didn't say anything about considering the MMI, final app score, or race. I think this email is basically a friendly rejection. Congrats to those who are ranked higher!

"We have now completed all of our regular evaluations and have begun offering acceptances from our alternate list. Based on your current status on the list, it is not likely that you will be offered a position in our entering class. We want to provide you with this infomation so that you can move forward with other options for your academic and career path." Then more stuff about getting counsel from family, friends, etc.

It sounds like we may have gotten the same email which is not the same that everyone else is referencing. Mine said to keep checking the portal for updates and to be sure that they have my current contact information. Fingers crossed?

Also got the unlikely to be accepted email. Good luck to the rest of you!

I wonder when there will be more waitlist movement. In the form from last year, they released waitlist acceptances on June 27, but they did not send out the waitlist email we got this cycle. So, we could be finding out either this week or next.

Also wondering. Still doesn't seem like much movement. Maybe end of next week?

I believe the waitlist is already moving. I received the alternate list update email on 6/18 and then I was accepted on 6/19. Interviewed 2/9 and first waitlisted on 4/5. Hope this helps!

Congrats on your acceptance!

If you don't mind, what are your stats? Also what time did you receive the acceptance email? Thanks!

Thank you! And I don’t mind. GPA above 3.9 and MCAT 508. I got most emails around 9 am.
