Rest assured, there is movement. Stay hopeful until the second week of May, which is when the bulk of the movement should happen, then start planning your next steps!
 
Ugh this wait is slowly killing me. I recently started studying to retake the MCAT and can't help but hope a call from Dr. Chan will save me from this misery
 
Hey everyone, I am not sure where to ask this, so thought this might be a good place to start.
I didn't get in this last cycle so will be applying again and am wondering if there is any data out there of where Utah residents fair well as far as acceptance rate. One of my issues is I might have applied to a few schools I didn't really have a chance at, and I am wondering if someone can link me to any data for Utah residents, or lists of best schools for Utah residents to apply to either MD or DO.
I suppose some schools don't care state residency and some basically only let their own state in, but it is just difficult to know where to start.

Any lucky accepted peeps that have or are going to reject their offer? Trying to maintain a semblance of sanity while waiting on the alternate list haha.
Also did anyone ever find out if they pull from the alternate list based on IS/OOS status?

They do pull from the alternate list based on IS/OOS/Idaho residency to ensure the matriculating class stays 85 IS, 30 OOS, and 10 Idaho residents. Here is the link to that

Got in on Friday off the waitlist! I'm out of state with Utah ties (went to BYU). This was my second time applying after taking a year in between to work on my application, so it's been 3 years since my first app went in. Between the 2 cycles I applied, I completed over 60 applications. Basically, never give up!

It's a complicated question, but I graduated from a Utah university, so I think in state? I'm not exactly sure how that works.

I think they consider that out of state but they have X amount of seats for people who went to high school/college in UT I think.

Yeah that's correct. What they told us on my interview day was they have 15 spots for out of state that went to a Utah university and 15 spots for out of state with no UT ties at all...but all 30 of those spots are considered out of state.
 
Has anyone heard anything yet today?
 
Congrats EMT 602! That's awesome to hear. It looks like most of us should know within the next few days judging from last years thread.
 
It sounds like there was a group of rejections sent this morning for waitlisters... I have not been rejected, but haven’t been accepted either. Anyone have any insight on my situation..?

I’m in the same boat as you. Perhaps they only have one or two more acceptances floating out there and are taking the majority off the waitlist at this point?

In the same boat as well!
 
The U sends out rejections each week as they gauge the wait-list movement--that way you can start to make other plans if you're not higher on the list. :xf:
 
Has anyone called and asked if they expect anymore alternate list / waitlist movement by any chance? 🙂

Who else here is still on the alternate list? Are you IS/OOS (w/ or w/o ties?)/Idaho? Ahhhh I’m still holding out hope
 
Still trying to hold out hope as well! I’m IS w/ ties to the University (took courses there in my gap year).
 
Same boat. IS first year applying. Ties to U of U only through placing in competitions there. I bet most of us find out this week.
 
Rejected off alternate list just now. IS (uofu was my undergrad). Still waitlisted at 3 other schools though. Best of luck everyone!
