Right there with ya. My hope is that after initial acceptances, some interview slots open up. Just gotta keep reminding myself to be patient with this process

I wish I knew how they go through initial app reviews... I've been complete here since early July and haven't had a single status update. Anyone else? Trying to be patient but I applied last year as well and ended up with a message at the end of the cycle that basically said they were interested in my application, but had already given out all of their interview slots (I applied pretty late the first time). VCU is one of my top choices, so I hope I don't get the same message at the end of this cycle!

I was complete 7/18, and have received no updates or changes so I definitely feel your pain

Damn, congrats on getting multiple acceptances on day 1. You've clearly worked super hard, and its awesome to see people getting rewarded for their focus and drive. Super happy for you, and wishing I had that same drive during my undergrad years 🙂

We are trying to interview all candidates at your priority score interviewed as soon as possible if we have an adequate number of interview slots. Please anticipate an e-mail from us regarding a possible interview date."

Finally! Complete early/mid July.
I'm not really going to hold my breath at this point, since it seems like most II's have been given out, but it still feels good! Who knows, maybe some people will hold acceptances elsewhere at this point and will pull out and leave something open. Kind of sucks to think that it's sort of luck of the draw and that had my file gotten onto someone's desk to be reviewer earlier I would be in much better shape, but oh well. Love me VCU!

There are plenty of interview slots still available and more will continue to open up; this is the nature of the process. Sausage-making isn't pretty either, but it tastes good in the end.
 
Jumping on board the "very interested" train today! OOS, 511, 3.85, non-trad, ORM.

Thanks for the encouragement, Dean Mission. Question- Do you by chance know the typical wait time between receiving the "High Interested" and receiving an interview invite?
 
Hey guys! I'm a URM about to send in my secondary for VCU. Just wanna say that I attended VCU for undergrad and I absolutely loved it! If you have any questions about Richmond (also amazing) or VCU in general feel free to hit me up!

anyone get this status and get an interview / the very interested status anytime after? or is this almost a silent rejection. 🙂

I have a II coming up for this school. Does anyone know the format of the interview?
 
Anyone else in Richmond today, checking out the city for interview tomorrow? Looks pretty exciting out there!
 
Your M.D. file is now complete. The Sub-Committee will now do a review of your application. Once this review is complete, you will receive a status update regarding your profile.

Please note that your file may be put on hold for the following reasons:
Hold for MCAT: We are assuming you are scheduled to take the test. The Committee wishes to wait to evaluate your file until those scores are available. MCATS taken after September of the year of application will not be considered. If you are not planning to take or retake the MCAT, please notify us immediately.

Hold for Grades: The file review done by the Committee has determined that you are engaged in coursework which may affect their decision about whether to invite you for an interview. It is imperative that you submit grades for current or proposed courses in a timely fashion. Any file on hold for grades that are not submitted by January 31st will automatically be rejected. If you did not take the course indicated on your primary or supplemental application, please notify us immediately.

Does this mean im on hold errrrr?

I got this message and then a few days later got the very interested message, so I don't think it necessarily means a hold

Interesting I don't have the please note section I don't think just that my app is complete and they haven't reviewed it yet complete since like 7/21 ish
 
Does anyone know if VCU receptive to "In the area" emails? I have an interviews at other Virginia schools and don't want to make multiple trips if I don't have to.

Maybe they haven’t even gotten to mid-Aug/end-of-Aug applications?

I was complete around the same time as you were and haven't heard anything yet. Lizzy M 64, so definitely not too hopeful at this point.

Did you get an email when you were able to schedule an interview? Ive only had the V.I. status for a couple days

I'm not sure we're allowed to tell. However, it's not something you can really prepare for. Just be introspective on your previous experiences, consider both sides in ethical scenarios, and know the answers to the Big 4: Why medicine, tell me about yourself, obstacle you've overcome, strength/weakness.

Thanks! Yeah my portal has been updated with the info but there just doesn't seem to be a lot of info on portal for next steps besides paying deposit under the Matriculation form. That's why I was wondering if more details or info would be sent through mail.
