Hey all! Does anyone happen to know when we're supposed to submit our transcripts by if accepted? Also, is the new curriculum a block one?
Accepted! OOS, interviewed 12/11
+1 ☹️. Did it say you’re “placed on the alternate list”?Waitlisted today :’(
It said that for me.. sucks, Wayne is my top choice. Thinking about submitting a LOI, but honestly loosing all hopes after being put on the waitlist for all three schools I interviewed at...+1 ☹️. Did it say you’re “placed on the alternate list”?
Yes. It really does suck. This was my first one, but it was disheartening and now I’m nervous for my other interviews. Accepted via email, in-state interviewed 11/20!!! Very excited as this is more than likely where I will attend medical school!
Yes, MSUCOM starts in June and the housing goes super quick there. I hadn't heard from anywhere else so I pretty much had my mind made up until now!
Have you submitted any updates?Starting to lose hope , I have been on the waitlist since oct 17 and I interviewed on 9/11.

What's the proper code??Hey guys make sure you enter the proper school code for FAFSA. Just realized if you search their medical school it wont be the same code as the one Wayne asks you to use, had to fix my mistake just now :/

According to the website, they interview until February, so I feel like they may send a few more invites in January, too? I’m not too sure thoughWill they still be sending IIs in 2018? Or is it almost over?
Same! Hoping maybe they'll reconsider for January decisions. Don't lose hope, hopefully we'll hear some good news soon!Yes, I sent one about 3 weeks ago, was hoping that would help.

My AMCAS was verified on august 4 and Wayne State was one of the first schools to offer me an interview. By November 20th, I was placed on the waitlist. It's been over a month and im still stuck there. I figured that since they offered me an interview so quickly, they must have liked my app and since the interviews seemed to go so well, I would get an acceptance. Does anyone know when is the next date that they are going to take students off the waitlist? I am tired of checking the stupid portal everyday like a neurotic ***** lol I also emailed them last week asking them a few things and haven't gotten a reply, would a phone call be a better idea?
I was also placed on the waitlist. They said they can only offer a certain number of acceptances at a time, and the rest goes to the waitlist. So if you’re on the waitlist, you get re-reviewed every time the committee meets. Frankly, You can “look” for an acceptance every 2 weeks starting the end of January, but there’s never a guarantee you’ll get one. They don’t send out rejections until the end, I think May/July. The sad reality is that we have to just wait it out and hope for the best. I hear there is a lot of movement off the waitlists, so if you thought the interview went well, I would stay hopeful!
No, they only met once in December and they said they’re only meeting once in January, towards the end, due to the holidays. They said after that, they’re gonna go back to meeting every 2 weeks. Words from the admissions office phone call."Every 2 weeks starting the end of January" ??? Did you mean to say starting the end of December?

I am in the exact same situation, complete end of July, II a week later and waitlisted on oct 17. I also thought the interview went very well, but being on the waitlist for this long has freaking out about every little “mistake” I made. Worst part is, this school is my top choice by a whole lot, I’ve lived about 20 minutes away from it my entire life. Please pick me Wayne!!!

Edit: when I scheduled my interview, which was the last option for December, 12/11. The next option was 1/15 or so (I think)... so I guess that’s why they’re only meeting once in January.
Thanks for the heads up. Do you think it'd be a good idea to call the office to inquire about my application and if there is any activity that may help me get in or is it a loss cause and they will just be general about it?
I’m not too sure about that. When I talked to them, I asked was it ranked in any kind of way and they said it is not, and that every single person on the waitlist is re-reviewed at every meeting. It wouldn’t hurt for you to call yourself if you want more clarification and want to confirm the things they told me. I don’t think they’ll give you any more info or make you feel any less stressed about the situation, though.
I believe it was ranked last year. They actually said there’s no ranking whatsoever? The order of people on the waitlist is just first-come, first-serve?
I said “is the waitlist ranked at all, or is it just first come first serve”.
She (I think it was Dawn) said “no, there’s no ranking. Every single person on the waitlist is re-reviewed for a decision at every meeting. And rejections aren’t sent out until the end of the cycle”
I don’t know how realistic that sounds, like if it’s a lot of people on the list, ya know?... idk, I didn’t fully understand, but I didn’t want to be a pest and constantly ask more questions.
Ranked as in like the best interview? Or ranked as is best stats? Or what?I was waitlisted last year as well, and I’m pretty sure it was ranked. They wouldn’t tell us this themselves though but we all knew it was. This year I’m not sure if they changed things or not, but I could call them myself and try to find out.
Both. It was ranked in terms of how qualified the applicants were, with both stats and interview considered.Ranked as in like the best interview? Or ranked as is best stats? Or what?
I'm unsure but in general I've been told from premed advisors that an loi isn't factored in much. For the most part the update that is presented of what one has been doing in the last 4-6 months since they submitted their app isn't verifiable prior to acceptance, and also won't be much of an improvement on what was already presented in the initial application which has essentially taken years to put together. An loi does show continued interest, but a lot of students also send them to every school they've applied to so it can't be factored in that much in terms of that either. If it is a ranked waitlist system, does that mean an loi wouldn’t help? Or could an loi improve your ranking?

When you say "they wouldn't tell us this themselves though but we all knew it was", what do you mean exactly? How did you guys know it was if they weren't telling you? Did you end up getting accepted?
That’s just what everyone on SDN said, so I believed it to be ranked, which made sense anyway; there were people who interviewed after me, got waitlisted after me and got accepted before I ever got a final decision. I was rejected by the way, which is why I’m here in this thread. I interviewed again this cycle and got waitlisted again.
For the record, a friend of mine (Wayne med student) has a friend on the admissions committee who told me that 80% of students on the waitlist get accepted eventually. This number may have changed since last year when my friend told me this, or when her friend told her this, but I believe it to be accurate. Also a cardiologist I recently scribed for who went to Wayne State told me that most students on Wayne’s waitlist get accepted. So just keep in mind, getting waitlisted isn’t necessarily the end of the world 😉
