Did anyone receive any info about financial aid today and have anything other than loans listed in their package?

I just got my financial aid e-mail from Discover Drexel today, and didn't realize I was accepted until I checked my online portal. Make sure to check your spam box too!

I'm from the second to last week of november and haven't yet heard back, hopefully tomorrow or I guess March?
I think if we haven't heard back yet, it might get pushed back to the week of March 25th, according to the portal..

Maybe today will be a good day for some of us!

Your optimism is misplaced asgardian

Just got an II after being on hold since September! I added an update to the portal in January. IS, LM ~75
Mannnn why you do this to me, I already accepted that being on hold was a silent rejection but now I gotta get my hopes up again lol. But Congrats! Hope that there's more good news to come!

Congrats! Were you on hold prior to the invite? Good luck!
Thank you! No hold, just silence haha. Considering withdrawing though, not sure if it’s worth the cost to attend the interview (already holding an acceptance at Tulane). Any thoughts on Tulane vs Drexel?

Always nice to go with who wanted you the most and obviously Tulane invited you for an II awhile ago since you already have an A!
Congrats & good luck with your decision future MD!

Got interview offer today after hearing nothing since submitting secondary in August! I also have a coworker who received an interview offer a few weeks ago. Hopefully there's a bunch of spots left!

Is Drexel receptive to letters of interest / intent after being deferred post-interview?

Re: Letters of Intent/Interest
This is what I was told by faculty/staff who has an inside look on the admissions process:
Drexel is receptive to and takes LOI's seriously, but do not send one until two or three weeks after you have been deferred.
The LOI is appreciated but it does not add value to you application. It will not make or break your admission; just serves as a reminder that you exist and that you really want to go to drexel.
The committee just recently looked at your application and decided that it didn't wow them enough for an outright admission, but didn't warrant a rejection either. If you send an LOI right away and they review your file without time having passed, they'll likely reach the same decision again. Waiting a couple of weeks allows them to come back to your application with fresh eyes, after reviewing applicants who were lower on their list than you. When they open up your file amidst the other applicants, its looked at in a different light.

What an LOI needs:
A genuine reason that Drexel is a high priority for you. Do some research about the medical school, what about it connects to you and your core values? How have you demonstrated those core values in the past and since this application cycle started? Do you have any home ties to the school/area. Give them a reason to believe that you want to be a DUCOM and aren't just throwing an LOI at them because its your last hope of admission this cycle or are sending LOI's to every school you applied to.

Thanks for the information! When you say LOI do you mean interest or intent or both?

As I was leaving my Drexel interview with another guy in my cohort, one of the students coming in the door saw our nametags and took the time to walk with us for while out to our cars and basically told us if we don't have a choice, obviously go to Drexel, but if he had to do it over again he'd go literally anywhere else. Yes, he could have been a lone disgruntled student, but I've seen online plenty of others who rank Drexel similarly, and his issues echoed many things that I'd picked up on during the tour.

That said, the interview t-shirt is pretty much my favorite piece of swag

Seconding this. Too many complaints from current students about lack of student-professor accessibility, unclear curriculum structure, and being overshadowed by the other med schools for for med student opportunities in Philly.

I have three acceptances including Drexel and this is freaking me out 🙂

Just to offer another perspective, on my interview day two Drexel students saw me walking and offered to show me to my interviewers office- they said almost the exact opposite.

They were MS1 and told me they were having a great year- they went in depth about the how much they loved the students, staff, and curriculum. They even gave me their numbers and encouraged me to contact them with questions! This experience really has me leaning toward Drexel!

Yeah, I've heard it both ways to be honest. But on my interview day there were many students who said "good luck! it's awesome!" in passing or "you'll love it here!". Now, my student interviewer wasn't really singing the school's praises, but I would imagine with a class size of roughly 300, you're bound to get people on both sides.

I appreciate the sincerity and know @themightyquinn was just trying to give pragmatic advice, but some of us "don't have a choice" and it kind of kills the vibes for all the future matriculants and people waiting to hear back. I got nothing but positive feels during my interview. I appreciated their focus on women's health, wellness, diversity, and the social determinants of health. After doing an SMP, I learned I much prefer watching lectures 1.5x speed from home, so it felt like a great fit. I also learned that although the medical school my SMP was at had great STEP scores and other statistics, there were a lot of disgruntled students about administration, professors, rotations, community service, and a new curriculum change. It happens everywhere. Although admin/professors can obviously make improvements, the medical school experience is what you make of it, how you study, and how you take advantage of the opportunities.

Like I said, I know you guys just want to help and inform the public, but I for one am more than excited to attend Drexel in the fall and really look forward to meeting my classmates.

Drexel is currently one of my choices and I am thinking hard about my options . I agree with you. I think every school has some pluses and minuses , and everyone should just think what is important for each individual. For example , I don’t care about “limited professor availability “. I don’t even go to half of my lectures . I am “read a book “ kinda person . What I do care about is that Drexel has a very impressive match list , especially in the specialities that I am considering at this point . Also the step score is pretty decent . For me those two factors are the main criteria that I use to evaluate the quality of preparation and level of competitiveness of Drexel graduates . Maybe I am wrong.

I got Drexel acceptance just a week ago - which was my first acceptance . I remember reading your post a while back , how you were crying when you got the acceptance. It made me feel so happy for you ! You fought for this for so long ! And you DID it ! Remember that moment . Take that hard copy of Drexel acceptance letter and frame it ! And hang it up . Every time you look at it it will remind you of all your hard work you’ve done (I am planning to do that ). Your medical school experience will be scary , and painful , and wonderful, and a lot of other things . And there will be good times and bad times , which will have NOTHING to do with Drexel . But at the end of the day - it IS what you make of it . Be PROUD of yourself .!!!

I think they are just one of those schools where you have to actually pursue stuff instead of having opportunities fall in your lap. Things aren’t impossible and they match well and even into competitive specialties so it’s not like it holds you back at all. If you’re very independent (like I am) and don’t need people to set everything up for you or “hold your hand” like some other schools, then it should be fine. I feel like 90% of the stuff that is pointed out about schools during interviews don’t get utilized anyways (I may be wrong but that’s the impression I’ve gotten from most students I’ve met at interviews)

Yeah , I am definitely a “go-getter”( is this how you spell that ?🙂)). I think Drexel would be a great fit for someone like me , because I feel like I should have more opportunities to “mold” my education into what I want it to be

Hello! Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how does the interview day work? I know there's an essay you have to write on an iPad, but do you also have a one-on-one interview AND a group interview?

Yes, a one-on-one interview with a faculty member, and a group interview with a student

just got an II after silence since being complete in August... obviously honored but also curious if they are just interviewing for the waitlist? Anyone have insight on this? The earliest date I could choose was 3/25. I still plan to go but want to manage my expectations of getting the A this late in the game.
