2018-2019 Georgetown University School of Medicine

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I believe it was marked complete when I submitted because I submitted the primary with all letters of recommendations on May 31st, first day.

Noticed something funny about their secondary. Never outright do they ever say 'Cura Personalis' but they define the idea and skirt around it and do definitely discuss the idea. I'll bet they want us to say cura personalis in the secondary to make sure we've looked into their philosophy and have researched their mission statement, without them giving it to us.

I mentioned it in my secondary and got an interview.

Interview invitation this morning! Secondary received 7/3, completed 7/15. OOS, MCAT 516, GPA 3.83.

Congrats to you! I was complete the same day but didn’t hear anything - Georgetown is my dream and I hope they are interested in me, I’m international though so things are generally harder 🙁 but one day at a time 🙂

HUGE congratulations! was curious if your completed date you put was when you submitted it or when they marked it complete, since they had so many people get delayed being marked complete cause of the letters downloading. Thanks in advance and I wish you the best of luck!
Thank you! I both submitted and was marked complete on the 15th. I guess luck was on my side, as that doesn't sound like the case for so many others.

Opinions on whether or not it's worth applying with my 509 (127/124/127/131) MCAT and 3.9+ GPA? Heard this school screens for subscores below 125 but not sure how seriously I should take that into consideration, considering it's not stated on their website

Shoot your shot, you never know

Just FYI I did this too and wasn't complete until 7/26... they had some issues which seem to have resolved but you might check your portal 🙂

Submitted my secondary 7/1 but wasn't marked complete for letters until 7/26 even though amcas has had them since early june. I know admissions said the letters issue wouldn't negatively impact our applications, but it seems hard to believe it hasn't :/
RIP us 🙁

II earlier today. Submitted on the 17th. LM score is 70-71. Anyone know what percentage of kids who get interviewed get accepted? I know that MSAR says that close to 20% of people interviewed end up matriculating

Congrats! Not sure how accurate this is, but someone shared USNWR interview/acceptance stats last year and it says 32% for Georgetown:

They seem to be going through these applications pretty linearly, right? They already moved passed my interview date without an II, I have a feeling that that is bad news for me.

Obviously, who knows for sure. Just a feeling

It is possible that there is some linearity to it. I think that there is. But, just thinking about the perspective of the goals the AdCom has for this year (who knows what they are beyond target medians and that sort of stuff), I imagine that there are some "kinds" of candidates that they may think its best to vote on later on - just a thought. I have heard though that its super normal for Georgetown to send good news way later.

Thank you for this. Keeping my spirits alive, even if it is only for now.

Just an update, I just read through last year's thread. At the end of August, a bunch of rejection letters were sent out bloodbath style.

Also, they went similarly in a linear format last year and plenty of people were sent interviews weeks after others from their submission date received interviews.

Long story short, there's hope.

Also keep in mind that many schools assign your application to different reviewers and some reviewers may get it done faster than others.

I was complete 7/16 with no news yet, so I'm praying. This is one of my top choices 🙁

Congrats! Were you complete around the same time that you submitted? Or was there delay like some people who submitted earlier?

For people worrying about linearity I talked to a family member who's an advisor for the school, they said there is absolutely nothing to the fact that people who submitted earlier didn't get II's and people who submitted later did, theres no rhyme or reason outside of a general timeline. Trust me I feel the paranoia mounting with all of you, but have faith!
I think I will say this on behalf of EVERYONE in this thread - thank you. I might sleep better tonight.... I cannot promise that the paranoia will not kick in tomorrow, but today i will try to relax.
If you friend said anything else, - feel free to share 🙂))))

My PI is an adcom and told me the same thing. Some people review applications faster than others so they can blow through a couple stacks faster than it takes for someone else to finish 1 stack. He said to not worry too much about when you get interviews even if its rolling because if you think "its late in the cycle. They may not have many seats left and Ill probably be interviewing for the WL" then you have already kinda set your fate with that mentality.

Thank you, that's music to my ears

ii on friday (8/3) around noon. complete 7/18. LM 74.6. OOS. ORM. Reapplicant (graduated this year). Dates available: September 18- October 1. I think thats everything. Any current students or previous interviewees here who would like to offer some advice for the interview? Georgetown is really one of my first choices and I'm quite nervous for the interview. Thanks in advance!

Congrats! Why is my neurotic self worried about not getting an II from Georgetown despite numerous people saying IIs aren't sent linearly. We have very similar stats so hopefully, that means I will get an II sometime this century.

I was surprisingly rejected post-II here last year. I wonder what my chances are this year.

Welp, been passed over. I know there's no linearity to the process, and the process lasts fo'eva, but can't help but be bummed 🙁

Congrats to you lucky ducks. Rooting for you guys 🙂

Don't give up hope yet, it's literally the beginning of August! So early. Keep your head up and be sure to send updates expressing continued interest.
