Has anyone on here been accepted after being waitlisted first?

How many applicants on the average are called for an interview in each cycle?. Does anyone know

4th year, post match OSUCOM student. I was OOS, from a south eastern coastal city, and accepted off the waitlist. Any questions about the school, moving to Tulsa or life are welcome.

OOS applicant, i’ve been complete since early July. Anybody know if the school accepts updates/letters of interest or at this point is it not worth it?

I updated, resulted in interview. Send it in. It is super late though.

When did you get off the wait list? Current OOS student on the waitlist here. Have sent in an update as well since getting waitlisted after grades improved.

Does anybody know when the interview cycle officially ends? I phoned in last week and was told that my application is still being reviewed.

I think they interview up until April, so there’s still time to be called for an interview within the next 2 months! If anyone has heard otherwise, please correct me!

I believe I got off the waitlist sometime in January or February. I got off it shortly after making a phone call to one of the previous admissions coordinators making it very clear that despite being OOS I would be choosing OSU-COM if accepted. They only take a chance on a few OOS students a year and I think they want them to be very committed / the academic standards for being given that chance are little higher for OOS students.

I feel like last year it even dragged into May, but I wasn't on campus much as a third year. Keep your heads up and stay positive because whether you interview in September or April, if you get a spot the whole game restarts in July.

Do you think that such a phone call would still be a good idea? I already sent in a letter of intent.

@DNC127 Hi there

What are your thoughts on sending a letter of intent? I’ve been on the waitlist for a while, interviewed very early (end of august I think, maybe early sept). I’m IS.

Send it!!! Time is running out. I would send it and make sure you 1. update well and provide significant experiences that improve your app (if you have them). 2. I would state that you will 100% choose OSU if accepted, and if you have been accepted elsewhere I would say "I am fortunate to have been accepted at X (number of schools) medical schools. However, if taken off the waitlist I would without hesitation politely decline those opportunities to come to OSU" or something to that effect. Thats what I did

Do you recommend emailing it or uploading it on the portal? I uploaded mine. Does emailing it make it more likely to be seen?

no clue. I would email. I don't trust portals

Wow ok thank you!
I’ll be at Med-X tomorrow so I’ll send an email out Monday (to Yoder?)

Who would be the best person to send updates to? Sarah Quinten or Lindsey Yoder?

I've seriously been on this waitlist since September. Any idea when we should expect some movement?

Too late to apply here? Regretting not doing so from the beginning, wondering if I'd just be wasting money at this point.

509/3.7/3.5

Any waitlist movement?
I think some people might drop their acceptances at OSU if they get into OU? But idk when the deadline for commitment is for OU. Hopefully the waitlist will start moving faster late March or early April. Best of luck!

Hey, everyone! I just wanted to give an update about the timeline for this cycle. I interviewed last Friday (03/08), and I asked Sarah about the rest of the cycle.
  • She said they already had interviews scheduled for this week, but they were still sending invitations. She said their very last interview date for this cycle is 04/16/2019. So, I think if you haven't received an II by ~04/08-09, you're probably not getting one this cycle. :/
  • About 65 applicants had been accepted so far.
  • She also informed me that 2 people withdrew that week (last week now).
I have some questions, also: for those who have been accepted, how were you notified? I assumed it would have been an email, but I swear Jeff Hackler told us during the presentation before the interviews that Dr. Dyer would call the accepted applicants (waitlisted applicants would receive an email notification). Am I crazy? Also, did Lindsey text any of you who interviewed? I got a text the day before the interview (Like a "Hey, we're excited to have you on campus in the morning") and also this morning ("I hope you enjoyed the interview experience. Let me know if you need anything..."). Is that normal? Neither of my friends who interviewed at OSU-COM this cycle (1 accepted, 1 waitlisted) got messages like that. I'm just being overly analytical and wondering if that's a good, bad, or neutral thing. Lol
Good luck, everybody! 🙂

I got a text and then got waitlisted

I got a text from Lindsey related to my interview, and received a phone call later on when I was accepted.

You should receive a direct phone call from Dr. Dyer if you're accepted. They didn't take very long to call me when I was accepted last semester (I interviewed Friday and found out the next Friday). Lindsey sent out both of the same texts to me as well, but they might not have deep meanings behind them? My friend also got the same texts and was then wait-listed, so I think it just depends. Good luck! Hope you find out this week!

Thank you, guys!!

I just thought it was weird my friends didn't get the texts. But I assume it's just a blanket text that most of us get and probably has no meaning beyond the general hospitality OSU-COM is known for.

Do ya'll know if they send out rejections? I'm still waiting, haven't received anything.

From what I have gathered from personal and collective experience, I don't think they send out any rejections until the end of the cycle. I have heard stories of people who behaved very unprofessionally being rejected early, but I don't know how accurate that is.

I think, if you're interviewed, you'll either get a phone call to say you're accepted, or an email that says you're waitlisted. At the end of the cycle, those who are rejected from the waitlist (and those who never got an interview invitation) will all receive the rejection email. I don't believe they send rejections out until at least the final interviews are conducted, if not until after their class has been mostly finalized.

+1 that the silent reject until the end of the cycle.

I was just curious about the time it takes to hear back after your interview and what you guys think: I interviewed 3 weeks ago this Friday. They told us at our interview that we should all hear something within 2 weeks. I don't know if it matters that last week was Spring Break, or if they factored that in when telling us, but it's been almost 3 weeks and I haven't heard anything at all.

I am not impatient, of course. More nervous. :inpain: I just don't know whether to think this is totally normal, or some sort of omen that they're just waiting to reject me. Lol

I interviewed March 1st for the bridge and got waitlisted yesterday so if you are on the same timeline it may be next week that you find out!

Has anyone been accepted to the Bridge so far?

No interview invite yet. Applied early November. IS // not an URM // 498 MCAT // 3.21 cGPA // 2.95 sGPA without grade replacement // work in medical field // tons of shadowing and volunteering.

Don't know if it was that I applied late, or if my GPA and MCAT combo were insufficient. Still would be great to get some closure, but at this point I'm assuming I was given the hint to reapply next year lol

Your stats are low (sGPA is very concerning) and you applied pretty late. Not a good combo. I would recommend retaking the MCAT before applying.

Would have had a good chance if you applied earlier. Might be worth a shot. A guy in our class with high stats didnt apply till march

I scored a 499 on my MCAT the first time around. But with some soul searching and guidance retook it and got a 512. The subreddit /r/MCAT helped out alot! Lots of good people over there who are willing to help you develop a good study plan.
