2018-2019 University of Virginia

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anyone know whether accommodations are provided for second look, and if so for what dates? I know the event is 3/22-23.

Also waitlisted, pretty disappointed since this was definitely my favorite interview day

It feels good to not be alone - I’m really sad about this I had such a good day there and was really excited about the school 🙁 I’m rooting for us

Just called the admissions office, they said they will make a decision soon and that interviews run till the end of February, but like....we are almost half way through February. Should I just take this as a rejection? I was completed back in September.

hi everyone - first time posting - I was wondering what time on Fridays people have been hearing from UVA. At my interview this week they said they'd be meeting to discuss applicants from 8:30-10:30am

I heard 11:30

Did any IS received II in 2019? I feel like everyone who recently posted on SDN about II were OOS.
Yes am instate and interviewed/was accepted there. Don't think anyone else on my interview day was from VA tho!

I wasn't a part of the rejection wave yesterday but it's still concerning that I haven't heard anything from UVA yet...

+5 R from yesterday. IS for me, sneaky sneaky UVA 😉

Hi all, i just wanted to thank everyone that helped me by answering my questions. I got on the R train yesterday as well- Canadian applicant, finished late september.

Just received my financial aid package, does that mean merit aid has been distributed already?

For those who have received Fin Aid rewards, when were you accepted? Wondering if it is rolling/ how long it takes them to give awards.

Accepted 11/6, but didn't finish submitting my parents W2s and 1040s until like early February. Found out award through email, was pretty generous 🙂

Can anyone here confirm whether the clinical year has letter grades? I feel like I heard that somewhere and want to double check.

According to MSAR, pre-clinical is P/F and your post-core clerkship rotations are P/F as well. Just the core-clerkships are letter graded. Also, does anyone remember how the assessments work in pre-clinical? I remember something about a summative and a formative and one of those is a take-home exam, but I don't remember the specifics.

For any accepted students who picked the Inova campus over Charlottesville, was there anything in particular that stood out to you that made Inova better? I'm debating if the fact that Inova is in a large metro area is enough to make big enough difference clinically
Do you want to live in DC/urban Northern Virginia or do you want to live in suburban/rural Charlottesville? That's really the only question you need to answer. Both Inova and UVA's Hospital are strong.

Clerkship year has both letter grades and qualitative assessments (Good, Superior, Honors).

Formatives can be taken anywhere and summatives need to be taken in the library or the med school. On assessment weekends, students can take their exam whenever they want from Friday noon to Sunday 1 pm.

financial aid will send you info before the matriculation deadline, so don't worry about it - it will get to you by the time it needs to be

Do these qualitative assessments extend to grades of fail too? Or is it only G/S/H? Thanks!

Does anybody know what the average stats are to get the merit based scholarships?
