2019-2020 Columbia VP&S

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Did everyone who sent a thank you get a reply with “Although it is too soon to know definitely how things will go this year, I can assure you that the Admissions Committee will keep you very strongly in mind.” I’ve talked to a few other students who got that same email after sending thank you, which is kinda sad because the wording makes it seem like they are basically saying you have a likely shot of getting in? At least that’s how it comes off to me but I could be reading too much into that

Yep. It’s a form letter.

Of my four friends that interviewed, only two got it. So, not everyone gets it. Also, mine had personal details from my interviews in the first para so it certainly wasn’t a form letter!
Did your friends that didn’t get it send thank you notes? I thought it was a response to thank you notes that everyone gets where they have a first paragraph that’s has details about your interviewers and then a second canned paragraph.

Either way, their admissions team has been very personable the whole way through and you love to see it folks!

Yes, everyone who received it gets a slightly tailored version of the same form letter with the names of who they interviewed with added in.

Does anyone know whether we can expect mid February decisions like was suggested at my interview day or if it will more likely be in march?

Did you guys submit your FAFSA and CSS to VP&S even though we don't hear back for another ~month?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the pamphlet in my interview folder said to submit the FAFSA but to hold off on the other supplementary forms until after you have been offered an acceptance

What point in the cycle did they say this? For some reason I had mid February written down also.

edit: just cause I wrote it down in my folder doesn’t mean it’s correct. I was so nervous I don’t even remember writing it lol

I’m not the person you replied to but at my mid-November interview they said they were shooting for mid Feb but couldn’t make a guarantee other than by March at the latest

I interviewed mid-late December and they said they hoped to release decisions by late February. It'd be great if it was sooner, though!

I do know that one friend who sent thank you notes did not get the email, but maybe it was a flub!

I interviewed in October so I was wondering if anyone who interviewed recently had more accurate info as the cycle progressed.

So the question is, do I withdraw now to avoid the R or go down with dignity?
Unless your ego just can't handle the R, if you might have any interest at all in the school, it costs you nothing to wait and see what happens.

What you think is going to happen is very likely correct, but unless you are receiving your information directly from the administration, there is always a chance whatever information you source from the interweb is not 1,000,000% accurate. Plus, schools reopen interviews on occasion for various reasons.

I think it was a rhetorical question...

Please let me and my ego joke about rejection in peace, sir.

You remind me of the pre-med that wears scrubs to class

Are Student IDs only issued after acceptance? (for Netpartner)

I am FREAKING OUT. I got an email from my interviewer reaching out just now but I haven't been formally accepted? Does this mean I will be?? Did anyone else get this? Or has my interviewer gone rogue????
Holy crap what did they say? Also what are the initials of your interviewer?

omg what did they say?

Very short and sweet. They were thinking about our interview and enjoyed meeting me. If I have any questions about Columbia going forward, reach out. I never reached out post-interview bc I was kinda waiting to see if I would even be accepted first, but this also means, idk where they got my email from...
