In addition, it's really unlikely that it'll actually hurt you. Either the committee still hasn't decided (as unlikely as this is), and your update is taken into account, or they have decided and they'll just take it into account when reviewing the waitlist. If you want to be safe, you can just ask them (since they're really friendly about replying), but I don't think you have to.
 
OMG why wont my MSTP decision link work, did this happen to anyone else?

I personally think it’ll be Wednesday or Thursday of next week based on previous threads

WL from MSTP -- wondering if schools that know they're a really bad fit for your research interests make decisions on that basis, bc Columbia definitely was in that boat for me

Also waitlisted, but Columbia fit my research interest like a glove.... so can't say that applied to my case
 
Hi, I have some questions about grades during clinicals! It would be super helpful if any current students have input! What’s the clinical grading system like? For example, are shelves or evaluations weighted more heavily? Are there certain cut offs for what % of students can get honors, high pass, etc? Do students feel like the grading is fair or does it feel arbitrary?

Current preclinical student here. Clinical grades are H/HP/P/F. My understanding from speaking with M3/4s is that the weighting of shelves vs evals depends on the rotation, with some being heavily weighted towards shelf grades and others less so. There are no cut offs, theoretically everyone could get honors. I can't speak for how everyone feels about its fairness, but I honestly don't think this will differ from anywhere else you might attend.

Also, congratulations to those of you who got this A this past week! Columbia is an amazing place to learn to be a doctor and I hope you'll choose to join us here next year. Happy to answer any other questions for people now that decisions are being made.

I think my tour guide told me that a handful rotations, notably surgery if I’m remembering correctly, have cut offs for honors.

Yeah it would be a good question for second look for anyone that is lucky enough to get accepted!
 
Anyone know if they give out A’s and R’s at the same time? For MD I mean
 
omg y'all chill, this is not a school where they told us we'd hear months ago and people are in silence (@ucla), this is a school that was very clear by giving us the week that decisions would be released (this week or next) so just hang tight, don't annoy the office, take a deep breath, etc!!!

so many notifications from this thread! but we know it will be later this week or next! so let's hang tight and roll w/ it 🙂
 
I’m guessing Columbia doesn’t match for merit scholarships, but has anyone heard of them matching a need package? Like if some other school calculates EFC differently

Dang thanks for sharing. I was confident this week was gonna be it. Looks like it'll be the first time in 3 years that regular MD decisions come out more than a week after MSTP decisions. Then again, the timeline on the website does say March so I don't know why I'm trippin lol
 
I don’t get why schools have to be secretive about their decision release dates. They’ve been done with interviews for like a month surely they aren’t making last minute changes in admissions decisions.

I will say I do trust the person who told me, very reliable source. But pls don’t kill me if they come out this week!
