2019-2020 Loyola

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That's purely non-clinical volunteering. Thank you for your response by the way🙂
Of course! 🙂

I'd say that's a fair number! I hesitate to say "it's enough" or "it's not enough," because none of know what Loyola or any other school is looking for specifically. 300 is a damn good amount, though. I wouldn't worry about hitting a "minimum" or anything like that. If you fit, then you fit. I know that doesn't really give a satisfactory answer, but the honest truth is none of us really know.

The most important thing is that you put your best product forward when you submitted your primary + secondary. Now it's all in the schools' hands. Take comfort in the work and time you've invested in yourself over the past 4+ years and just wait it out. Send updates! Loyola loves them, and showing continued interest will only help you. Best of luck! 🙂

Thank you. I had a first day interview at Loyola, and today was placed on the CC. I was just trying to backtrack to see where my application was lacking.

I'm at a loss to say the least.

Hmm, difficult to say. If you have 300 hours of meaningful hours, I'd be hesitant to say a lack of non-clinical hours was the reason. Could be a variety of other things (essays, interview performance, LOR, etc.). If you're on CC, then definitely send periodic updates.

Got it, thank you.

This might be too much to ask—and I completely understand if you can't do it—is there a possibility I could DM you some details about my AMCAS app to at least try to see where the issue might possibly be coming from?

Sure thing!

Hey! There doesn’t have to be something in ur application that’s lacking. Many many people get off the CC here especially those who interviewed in the beginning! Whose to say it wasn’t your interview performance? Only like 3 percent of applicants get interviews there’s clearly nothing lacking in your app. Interview = they can see u at the school especially early ones! Don’t give up hope.

Thank you! That makes sense. Now, what really adds to the confusion is that I felt like the interview went as good as it possibly could have 🙁

Either way, I'd be sending updates and a letter of intent soon. I'd love to get an A to this school.

If you’re trying to seek clarity by the decision at one Med school on your application I will tell you it’s not worth it. You are the worst judge of your own interview. You have no idea what they were looking for. Just don’t give up home and keep trudging along. You will Literallt never know so it’s not worth speculating about.

Does anyone who interviewed in late Sep/early Oct still have the “Thank you for scheduling your admissions interview..” status?

I interviewed almost 3 weeks ago, wondering how long people usually wait for the complete status that allows you send updates

I interview the week of the 8th of sept and have not heard back yet

Wait what do you mean under review? Was this a change in the portal?

Dunno when it changed, but if you look on your portal, it says your app is complete and under review.

I’m pretty sure my portal said “under review” as soon as I was complete. I don’t think it really means anything. I hope I’m wrong though! Fingers crossed for some more IIs!

"Your file has been initially reviewed by the Committee on Admissions. Your file will be held for further review later in the cycle. The review process is continuous from now until the conclusion of our interview season in February. If you wish to update your file, please do so within your portal."

Has anyone proceeded to receive an interview invite after having this message in their portal?
I'm very disheartened

I was complete 7/8 and my portal has not changed at all. Just says "Your file is complete and currently undergoing a review by our committee. Thank you for applying to Loyola University Chicago-Stritch School of Medicine.". Do they silent reject at Loyola and that may be what this is? Seems like everyone else has had some sort of change in their portal by now if they applied that early.

Mine says the same thing and I was complete early July also.

They receive 15,000 apps so this is pretty much a soft R sorry bud. I don’t think anyone from last year’s thread got a II after hold

I'm so disappointed at myself at this point with that message

After sifting through last years thread it does appear that they silent reject or hold off from rejecting until March.

my portal's been stuck on "Your file is complete and currently undergoing a review by our committee. Thank you for applying to Loyola University Chicago-Stritch School of Medicine. " since 8/6 lol... cmon loyola dont leave me on read ;(

Did you received the under review email yet?

Wait there’s an under review email from Loyola too? Noooo

Anyone from the 9/24 interview group (or around that date) hear anything or have a change in their portal?

Does anyone know is the admissions office is receptive to emails about applications? I sent in my app over 10-12 weeks ago and my portal status hasn't changed. I know some schools don't like those emails and others are receptive to them (like arizona).

Loyola is very receptive to updates/communications, but what’s the point of sending this? They receive 15,000+ apps per year, and it’s likely they receive the most apps in the country once again. Plenty of people were complete early and haven’t heard back.

It’s likely they haven’t even reviewed your app yet. Sending them an email asking for an update isn’t going to make them look at your app any quicker, and I highly doubt the admissions office will provide anything other than a stock answer like “Your app is in queue for review” or something of the sort. It sucks balls to be left on radio silence, but at least you haven’t been placed on hold. If anything, send an update! Loyola loves those.

Does anyone know how to submit updates through the portal? I saw a post here earlier about it not being a tab but instead being in the box at the bottom of the portal...I’ve looked and looked and can’t find anyplace to upload any sort of update, not sure if I’m just missing something super obvious. Thank you so much in advance!

What school is receptive to these lol I feel in general, once you submit, it’s just a waiting game unless you have something crazy to update your app with
