2019-2020 Michigan

Is Michigan receptive to letters of intent? Would providing an update that a research paper I am a second author on has been submitted to a journal be worthwhile? Good luck to everyone on the next MichMonday!

The general consensus according to adcoms on SDN is not to submit an update for a journal submission. It's much better to update once the paper has been accepted/published. Just because you submit something doesn't mean it will get accepted (unfortunately). Good luck!

They have some really good financial aid and I will take that in to consideration at the very end, but if it is not an obviously overbearing load of debt (>250-350k) then it is very strongly a no questions sort of thing (if you are still reading UMich, more financial aid is ALWAYS appreciated).
Just to correct a minor thing, they go by U of M.

Does anyone know whether many applicants from U of M undergrad have received interviews here?

Does anyone know how many students they accept from the ~500 applicant interview pool?

Does the University of Michigan send rejections during the week, or only on UMich Mondays? Or have they not sent out rejections?

Is there a point to hold out hope for UMich? Based on their interview tracker, there is less than 150 interview slots available. Complete in September.

not to jump scare people, but does anyone remember if there was a place to talk about gap year activities in the secondary or could i do so in an update?

doesnt look like they've sent any out today? their website indicates a reduction in the number of scheduled interviews

Wouldn't that mean that those interviews happened already? Like thats why they are no longer scheduled?

no I don't think that makes sense because it's the total number of interviews given out (regardless of if they have attended yet or not). I would probably think they just calculated it wrong at some point haha. Probably just an oversight

I know there wasn’t, but I’m not sure about the 2nd part of your q. Depends How sick of a gap year job it is I guess

MSTP interview received yesterday, submitted complete secondary on 10/1.

Edit: spent a summer there so they knew I was applying before my app was technically complete (was just waiting on MCAT)

complete 7/14 and radio silence...
edit: submitted secondary 7/14, submitted CASPer sometime later but not sure when exactly (never received an official "complete" email, only "secondary received")

I was a fool when I first started my application and didn't create/access my account correctly so now I *have* to open the link in incognito mode to access my application... do you think it would be okay to call the admissions office to check that my application is complete?

When should you send an update regarding a paper submission? Once you have submitted, or once it has been accepted? Also, should I take into account my authorship position when thinking about submitting an update?
