Interviewed on May 11th, and haven't heard anything. Since the WL is moving and other people have gotten A's this is weird. Do they email rejections and WL? Do you need to call admissions?

I got an email from them yesterday saying I was waitlisted. Should probably call them if you did not receive any notice yet. (Interviewed on the 12th)

Keep us updated on their reply

They want an updated transcript which states that I've successfully completed my master's degree. Got an email around 3am EST informing me that I've been placed on the alternate list as well...womp womp

I’m too scared to call lol.

My too. I feel like that might be tempting the gods.
It’s all a terrible game lol.

Unless they specifically gave you a timeline on when you would hear back by, it might be safer to wait the full two weeks since your interview date and then call/email early next week if you guys still haven’t heard anything?

Also idk if this has any effect on admissions at all but I know this week is graduation week so maybe that’s slowing things down a bit? Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself...

The post-interview email does not mention a timeline, it says they will contact me as soon as a decision is made.

Yeah that email is pretty generic. I was referring to whether they mentioned something to you guys on your actual interview day though, seems like they didn’t.

They did not lol. Part of the reason I did not feel so good about the interview.

Thanks! I need to retake the MCAT because my 503 isn't strong enough. With the covid craziness I have been hesitant to sign up for the exam and pay the money for uworld etc when I haven't heard back yet about this cycle's interview. I can however start working on questions from TPR. The thought of taking the MCAT again makes me want to stab myself in the eye with a fork.

I still have heard nothing at all.

Same. It is good to know there are 2 of us. Maybe they didn't get all the way through the list when they met?
IDK...Since it is a ZOOM/Webex meeting and 2021 AACOMAS has not started, I wonder what exactly is going on.

There were 17 at my interview day, and I think there were 5 interview days, so around 80-100 people to go over. I could see them taking a couple days to go through everyone. Probably a little "polyanna" of me.

Didnt they have 2 weeks of interviews in May?That would be 10 interview days.

How many interviews did you get this cycle? Did you submit everything early? I believe some DO schools are sending out interviews without MCAT but extending final acceptances with a MCAT score for 2021 entry, which means it will just be a score cutoff probably. Ask the schools and make an informed decision. Don't torture yourself for something unnecessary.

I only recieved one interview. I submitted super late. (Sept MD, Oct. DO).

I have a checkered past, no home state, and no research. So I defintely need a better MCAT. I think at this point there isn't much I can do about the research b/c covid. I was an internationaly touring musician for 20 years, so you can fill in the blanks. I have been sober for 9 years now, but red flags are red flags. Gpa is 3.9 sci, 3.79 non science. So not much that I should/can do there. I also filled a ton of stuff out on the application the wrong way. This 2021 cycle should go better?!? But I don't want to reapply with the same MCAT. It is way to much work. :)

Yes. In fact, the second week might be right now? Earlier posts on here said last interview was May 15th.

We are all humans and some were not born with silver spoons. It is understandable. Who knows? Maybe your history makes you a better addiction specialist/psychiatrist. I really feel that sympathy/empathy from those who have had similar/relatable experiences are more genuine.

No, they had a week of interview on May 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, ish then the week after too(11th, 12th up to the 15th).

I think the first week was rescheduled from earlier, because I got extended an interview in mid April, and the dates available were May 11-15, but for some odd reason I thought there were more dates after that week that could have been chosen. Now I wish I would have taken a picture. :) I basically chose the first available date and didn't look any further.

Is there an accepted students Facebook page? If so, can someone please direct me to it?

Hmmm, that’s interesting. In the past they’ve finished interviews before graduation week which is currently this week, but since everything went online maybe that’s changed too.

Both of those 2 weeks were opened for rescheduling.

Maybe. If so we are screwed because this Monday is a holiday. Lol. I told myself I will start studying on Monday for the MCAT retake.

After a lot of thoughts, I'm officially withdrawing my acceptance from AZCOM. This was a very difficult decision for me to make because it was my first acceptance to a medical school ever, so I'm very very fond of it! The school definitely has a very solid program, and I really hope that one of you here who is still waiting will get my spot soon!!

The checklist for CCOM has disappeared but that is after the "we have done our interviews for this season."
Still nothing...

Where are you going now?

How many people were recently interviewed due to their masters program and awaiting a response?

They were done in the two weeks of May. Most masters students who interviewed are on the waitlist

Source: I'm a (was now) a Masters student
Wow that’s surprising, I thought the linkage between the masters and AZCOM was solid. Any reason there’s a change this year?

It's sort of a pseudo-linkage. Most masters students end up on the waitlist every year but eventually get in throughout the summer. This is because the school doesn't even look at the applications from the Masters students until after the winter quarter (in February) unless your application is good enough in which case some have gotten interviews and have gotten in earlier. A few people get in right off the bat in the late interview dates but I would say most get picked off the waitlist as it gets closer to orientation (this is judging by the AZCOM threads in years prior).

They say the waitlist is unranked but I do believe they give preferential treatment to the Masters students. For example, people from the program get in even with sub-500 to lower than average MCATs, and they are really lenient towards the Masters students when it comes to things like deadlines (some got interviews without even submitting a secondary). Keep in mind the program is set up as a way to prove that the students can handle a curriculum that is similar to AZCOMs. So student's who've done well in the program are sort of "proven" in a way. Not to mention the students are familiar with the faculty of the school and may have even gotten letters of recommendation/ committee letters from the right people. Some of the interviewers for AZCOM are faculty members that teach the courses in the program so they may already be familiar with the student. That is not to say that people who haven't done the program and interviewed late don't have a chance, but I would say the Masters students do have an advantage because 1. They have proven themselves with the program, 2. They are familiar with the faculty and 3. They are already in Arizona because of the program.

According to my OMS1 friend at AZCOM, a good chunk of people from his class are from the Masters program— and that includes people from the masters program in Chicago

All of the interviewed master students have heard back?

Has anyone been rejected?

Not that I know of. I think if you're from the program and meet or are close to the articulation agreement you will be at the very least on the alternate list. There may have been a few interviewed that the school may have asked for an MCAT retake or submission of spring quarter grades before they can be progress in the cycle, but no flat out rejection unless the person was a complete weirdo in the interview.

Currently, our MA (1 year program) class has 101 people. Assuming that half of the class is pre-dental, or pre- anything other than pre-D.O. we can may estimate that there are about 50 people in the MA program that are pre-D.O. and if you account lets say 20 people who are taking a gap year, chose to go to a different school, already got accepted or failed to meet the articulation agreements you can assume maybe 30 people from the program are on the alternate list.

There are also the MBS (2-year program) students who may have applied but I'm not sure how many 2nd year MBS students are pre-DO and applied to AZCOM but I assume they may have interviewed earlier and have already gotten in or are also on the alternate list.

Then finally there are the MA and MBS students from the Downer's Grove campus but I have no idea on how many students from there are appling to AZCOM but I remember a faculty member saying at the beginning of the program that if you meet the articulation agreements for the Masters you will get the guaranteed interview at both AZCOM and CCOM,

These numbers are all just estimates/assumptions of course. But if I had to take a guess, there are good number of Masters students on the alternate list.

I can't say for sure. I would say no because people at this school have literally been called for a seat on the day of orientation so unless you get a formal rejection I would think you're still in the running. I would contact admissions after the holiday and ask about your application status since it has been about 2 weeks since your interview. They have been a little hard to reach by email as of late because of the pandemic so its best to call.

Since some users have brought the MA & MBS programs up I'd be happy to answer some questions. I personally went through the one year MA program but can probably shine some light on the MBS as well.

I am starting to think that they reject by snail mail and that takes more time to reach than an email. Is this true?

Same here. Happy to share my experience and answer any questions. Except I won’t be able to answer much about the MBS program.

It seems that before the pandemic, they were sending out WL and rejections by postal mail but someone reported they got their decision by email once interviews went online. I think your best option now is to hold tight until tomorrow and call to ask about your status then.

I got waitlisted via email. Interview was online on May 12th and i got the email the Friday of the following week (i think). Although not the same school, at another school, I was notified of an acceptance a few days after candidates who interviewed the same day as me received waitlist/rejection emails, so the wait does not always indicate something negative. I would say the extra time is either so they can have more time to decide on your application (good because chance of immediate acceptance) or because they've sent a physical letter of rejection. Hoping for the former for you all, good luck!

What did you think of it? Were you able to matriculate into the medical school?

Anybody in the US received a physical reject mail post-Webex Interview? My mailing address is in Canada so it might take a bit longer.
