Hi all! I’m super excited to be interviewing here soon! I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight into how they prepared for the interview and what to expect. Also, I sent a letter of interest; should I reiterate the reasons I listed of why I want to go there, or should I list new reasons why I want to go there during my interview? I have loved everything I’ve read online, and am honestly looking forward to seeing what more the school has to offer!
Messaged!

"The Admissions Committee of The Ohio State University College of Medicine has completed a review of your credentials following your recent interview. At this time, we have decided to defer a final decision on your application until we have had the opportunity to review more applicants."
I applied for the Primary Care Track, and I just got this message on my portal along with some other information. Does anyone know if this means that all of the slots have been filled or if everyone got this who applied because of the application timeline?

That is the regular MD deferment statement... I know it all too well

Hope we both get in eventually!

Hello everyone! I have heard that Ohio State's interview differs from those of other schools in that you are not interviewing to gain a spot, but rather interviewing to keep your spot in the entering class. Can anyone who has previously interviewed or is a current student provide some insight into this and provide some tips for preparing to interview? Thank you!

Hi there! I am a current M1. What you are saying has some truth to it, but is not the whole truth. Overall, OSU only interviews about 800ish applicants (don't know the official number), so they are fairly selective on who they choose to interview. With that being said, they do tell you when you're here that if they offered you an interview, then they believe you could fill a chair in the class. It is definitely not a guarantee, but OSU ends up accepting about 400-450 of the applicants who interview, so there is a very high chance compared to some other schools that you will be accepted post interview!

As far as advice for the interview, be yourself! They genuinely just want to get to know you and learn more about you, and the best thing you can do for yourself is be genuine and answer all of the questions to the best of your ability! There's no trick questions and the interview is very conversational, so try to relax, have fun, and I hope you enjoy your time at OSU!

Hi all, congratulations to those accepted! For my interview next week, they asked that I bring a wallet-sized photograph. Most schools have asked me to upload a 2x2 photo to their portal before an interview, but that doesn't seem to be a printing option at my local CVS. What have previously interviewed students used as dimensions for their pictures? Or does it not matter as long as it's "wallet sized"?

+1 also wondering about this!

They just want the picture to upload to your file. I'm not sure why they don't just let you upload your own, but I also know that it's not a huge deal. I know one student who didn't have access to a printer before the interview and they ended up taking a picture of his driver's license, and another who couldn't get it printed in color and went with black and white. Neither of them said anything about their pictures not being accepted or the admissions people being upset about it.

Try your best to get a wallet-ish sized picture (dimensions are not important) and if something is preventing you from getting it don't stress! They'll make do with what you can give them! With that being said, still try your best to bring what they asked for !

Most places like CVS/ Walgreens have options for wallet sized photos! Mine came in a set of 6 so I just had some leftover.

Hi, sorry if this seems obvious, but i can seem to access my secondary application after having submitted it a long time ago. Am I missing something or is this intentional? Thank god I saved my secondary essays in a different doc tho, yikes

Yeah I dont think they let you see your secondary materials. I have all mine in a google drive luckily.

Just got an II. OOS. Anyone have insight of how the interview day is structured? When is the earliest I would be able to fly out?

The interview itself is held in the afternoon, but it usually finishes up right about 3. The airport is about 15-20 minutes from campus, so make sure to give yourself time to finish your interview up and get there when you schedule your flight out!

So with this whole Step 1 P/F fiasco, where does OSU fit into all this? A lot of people are saying T20 students benefit drastically while those from low tier MD/DO schools will hurt. I feel like OSU is in that awkward middle space.

Does this school call when they accept? Bc I had a school that called the night before they said they would give us a decision. Or is it just a portal change in vitals? Do they email that ur status has changed? I heard that the portal changes early in the morning so I’m literally not gonna be able to sleep lmao

They call, but at least for me, it was after I found out on the portal.

Does anyone have links/websites where OSU College of Medicine apparel can be purchased? Lol
