Got the R today as well. IS. Definitely had some cognitive dissonance going into this cycle regarding the strength of my application. However, I have spent time since late summer working on improving the weak spots and will continue to do so. Wish me luck for next cycle! Change takes time, but time is all it takes!

Sorry to hear that. Is this pre-II?

I'm wondering...For those of you who already interviewed. Was your one on one interviewer's specialty related to your extracurricular activities? Also, I know that interviewers do not know your mcat and gpa, what do they know then? Do they know what college we went to, our entire activity list or just the ones we wrote about in our secondary?
Thank you!

Some of the details can’t be shared due to the NDA but my one on one interview was very comprehensive. My guess is they have access to all other parts of your application except perhaps a detailed class list, GPA, and MCAT. My interviewer was very thorough in terms of asking questions about information in my primary and secondary application, both in the writing prompts and the activities listed.

I’m not sure how much I can share but my interviewer was pretty much the opposite. They didn’t ask specific questions about my app and it just seems like a list of questions they ask ever interviewee. They did seem familiar with my application because I would bring up experiences to answer the question and they would say something along the lines of “oh right I read that in your app” but wouldn’t ask anything further really

+1
Def had a list that they made pretty clear they asked every applicant

Was yours a woman? I might have had the same interviewer, because you experience is familiar, ha.

I did an internship in a specific department and my one-on-one worked in that department.

Nope! Haha. It kinda sucks cause I feel like didnt really create a narrative for myself? I was just asked some really random questions. Not sure what they were looking for here

Darn, that means there's two wackadoodle interviewers at OHSU :dead:

I had the same experience. I was happy with my MMI's, but my one on one seemed... dry, I guess. I was expecting it to be very personal, asking me questions about my 15 experiences, but honestly, I wouldn't have been able to tell my interviewer read my app at all. They asked 'why medicine', 'whats your biggest strength, weakness' and those kind of "typical" interview questions.

OHSU is still my top and my overall experience was good but I was disappointing my interviewer asked 0 questions personally about my app.

Had a very similar experience. My interviewer didn't seem to know anything about me or my application, and didn't seem very prepared to conduct one of the biggest interviews of my life. Nothing to complain about, but hearing the different styles makes you wonder how subjective the 1-on-1 really is and how much the outcome is dependent on who you have an interview with.

yes - completely agree. my interviewer sounds similar to BigPremedGuy, while a friend of mine had a very different interview experience that sounded much more positive. i'm of course happy for my friend and glad she had a good experience, but it makes me frustrated that our success could be dependent on the interviewer we were assigned.

Can anyone post what a portal rejection here looks like? My portal hasn't changed since November and I'm honestly not sure if I'm in limbo or rejected at this point
You’ll certainly be able to tell. There will be a section that is titled Decision. You’re still in limbo :/

This is 2nd time interviewing at OHSU. Both interviewers asked typical 1-on-1 questions but 2nd time went way better for me since I knew I had to craft a narrative for myself even if the questions didn't explicitly ask. I felt more empowered to guide the interview this year and show them who I really am, and I felt much more confident walking out.. Whereas the first year, I made the mistake letting interviewer dictate the flow, resulting in a post-cycle feedback that my narrative for medicine was vague and unclear. Lessons to be learned I guess.

If I have to reapply this is the best advice I've heard yet. Thanks!

Hello everyone. I’m new here. I interviewed in mid-November and still haven’t heard a post interview decision. It has been 14+ weeks since my interview. Is anyone else in this position? Is this normal? Any feedback on past trends as to why the wait has been so long compared to others?

Hey Bvonn, I also interviewed in mid November and haven’t received a post II decision. I’ve been wondering this as well. It seems like such a long period of time.

you both have checked your portals right? because no email is sent unless it's an acceptance. Rejections and Holds are just updated ON the portal. If so, and no update, you should call but it might just mean your interviewer hasn't had time to attend a meeting and present you.

Yeah I have checked my portal. There’s no update posted since my interview. I think I’m probably just going to wait it out and assume my interviewer hasn’t presented me to the committee.

Yes I have checked my portal as well. There have been no updates since my interview; as in no rejection, hold or acceptance. I did reach out at the end of January and assume that I would get the same answer if I reached out now. The answer I got was the same verbiage they sent out in an email not so long ago. I’m just going to wait it out this point, but I have been curious since no one else seemed to be reporting a wait this long. Coming up on three months almost.

What does your portal say to indicate rejection? My portal hasn't changed at all since my secondary was complete in October

it’s pretty clear when you are rejected. So no news probably good news 🙂 hang in there

Yeah I know they present weekly to the committee, the assistant dean told my group that he tries to have post II decisions (hold, R, A) 4-10 weeks after the interview, but there's no guarantee. All I can say is know it's in the process. They are slow, but they don't forget, a decision is coming. I know the wait sucks, but it's not abnormal.

Personally, I am not expecting to know anything until April, but I also just interviewed 3 weeks ago.

I know someone who just interviewed three weeks ago but already heard back with an acceptance. So there’s truly no rhyme or reason I guess!
