I identify with this!
Hello everyone. I’m new here. I interviewed in mid-November and still haven’t heard a post interview decision. It has been 14+ weeks since my interview. Is anyone else in this position? Is this normal? Any feedback on past trends as to why the wait has been so long compared to others?
Unfortunately from what I've gathered this is pretty typical. Maybe a little on the longer side (my wait was late October to early January) but definitely nothing to worry about. I'd say if it gets to late March/April and still nothing, check in. But you’re not alone!Hey Bvonn, I also interviewed in mid November and haven’t received a post II decision. I’ve been wondering this as well. It seems like such a long period of time.
silence pre-II here... in-state reapplicantI do!
The latest I've heard someone mention is March 18th, but I don't know if there are more after that.Does anyone know when is the last interview date?
It looks like the first day of orientation is on August 10th!Can someone who has been accepted confirm what the first day of classes/orientation is? Still on hold, but want to make plans in case I get accepted!
I have a question...I know you went through this process recently so you know the standard SDN suggestions on having a strong application. Is there any way that OHSU bucks the standard advice, or area that they particularly like to see strength in (more than other schools would)?Hey all, OHSU MS2 here who just started clinical rotations. I remember how unnerving this point in the process was, so if anyone has any questions (about OHSU, sadly I can't say where your app is) I'm more than happy to answer them here or via DM.
Good luck to all of you and keep your spirits up!
OMG! Accepted! Somebody pinch me! Interviewed 12/17

So exciting and congratulations! Love everyone sharing their As on here I’m getting second hand excitement even though I very well could be rejected. Will you please do all of us neurotic folks on hold a favor and tell us whether you got an email about a portal update or did you have to check it yourself?
I received an email. No prior hold. Outright rejection last year and outright acceptance this year. HahaSo exciting and congratulations! I interviewed today and one of the OHSU med students said she was going to start the FB page for class of 2024 soon, so it hasn't been made/released yet! Congrats, though!Does anyone know if a Facebook group has been created for OHSU’s class of 2024? I tried searching but no luck.

You definitely still need a strong application in a traditional sense, as OHSU is a fantastic school so they can afford to be selective in terms of GPA/MCAT, etc. That said, OHSU definitely prioritizes life experience and background in a way that ensures the classes are not only diverse in terms of experience, but also really cohesive and friendly. "Gunners" in the traditional sense really don't exist in my class.I have a question...I know you went through this process recently so you know the standard SDN suggestions on having a strong application. The last II's may still be trickling out, but this is about the time OHSU opens up the hold floodgates so expect less II's to go out and more acceptances to roll in over the next monthWhen do yhe

tell them you're married🙁 Okay. I do have a strong app in the traditional sense and I have a lot of life experience (I'm in my mid-30's) but I haven't gotten any love from OHSU. Still wondering what I should be doing.
Not sure what you mean, exactly. That they are worried that I'm a single mom and won't be able to cope? I did mention in my PS and secondary that I'm married with kids.tell them you're married
It was a dumb joke, OHSU seems to really value non-trads / those with life experiences and from my impression it seemed like many OHSU students are married. definitely was not trying to insinuate that their adcom looks down on single mothers in any way.Not sure what you mean, exactly. If it was a joke, it flew right over my head.
Wow that is awesome! Congrats!!Accepted off the hold pool today!!! Oregon heritage, interviewed 10/24, hold 01/10.

SameOOS, Non-Heritage, but from a neighboring state and would love some love from OHSU. Silence since July. Still IIs? Still reviewing non-heritage OOS applicants?

Sorry, I can't really help you, but I wanted to say I feel the exact same way! I need to plan things, but I can't. I'm just hoping for an acceptance soon so I can have a slightly clearer picture. Maybe ask a current OHSU student, or maybe the student handbook to figure out the answer to your question. My PI asked me to go to an international conference in September but I told him I'm not sure if I'll be able to in case I get into medical school. In the off chance that I do end up getting accepted off hold, what is OHSU's attendance policy like? I know I'll be able to watch the lectures online but I would end up missing a Friday due to the conference which I understand is when the weekly exam is. Is OHSU accommodating for students missing exam days for professional reasons, i.e. a conference?
Planning for things in the future is super hard with OHSU letting us know so late 🙁 I think my PI is starting to get irritated with me from not knowing whether or not I'll stay in the lab lol.
Thank you so much for your time!

Gotcha, my bad. I just wanted to express my frustrations along with you about the long process and how it's hard to make future plans!I looked through the handbook and couldn’t find an answer. That’s why my post is a reply to Exli, the OHSU MS2 on this thread who kindly volunteered to answer some of our questions. I thought I would post it on here instead of DMing in case anyone was curious. Best of luck I hope we both hear good news soon.
Here's an actual quote from the Assistant Dean of Admissions: "I never have accepted a medical student and wish they got one more A, or 1 point higher on their MCAT afterwards".Hello all, I would appreciate some advice. I have an interview March 17th. My top acceptance right now is Colorado. From an online POV, the schools seem to be similar in their mission/values, and they are both geographically amazing. Financing my trip is possible, but, a current class I am taking will take a further beating (have missed classes with quizzes because of other IIs).
I am happy with Colorado, but OHSU was actually my top choice from the beginning. Will getting a B- or withdrawing from the class have consequences at this point? It is the only class I am taking. I don't need it. I only took it to stay fresh.
Thank you

If you got an II, your grades got you in the door, now your personal path to medicine (what they call your app essays, secondaries and interviews) will account for 80% of the rest of your decision. It won't matter, getting a B- or having a W on your app won't be super significant for OHSU, they care more about who you are and your motivations. You need to be academically competitive, but you already showed you were by getting an II.
I had a 3.4, with a few C's and a withdraw and got an II. And after the interview, the admission cannot look at your grades again, theyre blinded to GPA and MCAT and the Dean made a big deal about that.
EDIT: this is only my suggestion for OHSU, no idea about other schools where grades and MCAT may be a bigger portion of the pie than in portland.
That's very sweet, thank you!Just want to say - DANG congrats on your amazing stats. Juggling real life as a married mom with kids and still kicking A in the med school game is pretty phenomenal. I admire you!!
For those accepted, what email does the official acceptance packet come from? Recently accepted but wanting to make sure I don't miss the sign-the-dotted-line date they set for me by not getting the email. How long after the initial acceptance email did you all receive the official acceptance packet email?

OHSU is very good about making allowances for people to attend professional conferences! A retake exam would probably be scheduled for Monday, there's a form you'd submit to the teaching services office and that would be essentially all you'd need to do. Other things that are excused are big personal events, i.e. if you were to be a groomsman or bridesmaid in a wedding.
