LMAO, I wonder how many people will still submit their secondaries at this point?

Mid August to late August to unknown. This secondary must be something of great priority.

Curious if anyone has tried to reach out to the admissions office to ask about secondaries or what's going on lol?

Now that it is September, would it be considered impatient to call them and find out when the secondary will come out?

$5 it is just one essay question consisting of "Is there anything else you would like to tell the admissions committee that is of importance?" idk, you've had my application for like 5 weeks, you tell me lol.

lol I'll bet the same, that would be so nice though.

I just sent them an email today, I never received an initial email confirming receipt of my AMCAS primary, so I'm really confused as to what's going on.
Did they respond with any sort of update as to when we can expect the secondary or provide any news?

So when the secondary does come out, will everyone get it at once? Or will there be batches? Screening for secondaries?

With the quality of decisions coming out of this admin office, I wouldn't be surprised to see them all come out at once and get them all back within the week (because no one has any others to work on) and be swamped.

There was mention of reaching out to admissions, did anyone actually call and ask what the hold up is?

Hmm they must be screening your calls... Have you tried calling from a different phone number???
hey why don't you try your different phone number lmao

Y’all need to chill out and be patient. go outside or something, I’m sure they’ll send you a secondary once they’re ready and calling certainly ain’t gonna make it go any faster
and yea I just want to get these things submitted

Haha absolutely not. I think they just forgot about the secondary and I don't want to remind them

Hopefully they make it like the NYMC secondary, that would be great.

I looked on the website again and it said it'll have 3 questions to answer

Yeah it's always said that. My concern if I were them would be volume of secondaries to review and timeline. They're going to get a ton of applications, possibly more than they would otherwise as time is an important limiting factor when deciding where to apply, and most applicants have a lot more time now.

Interviews have already started at most schools, and while there's some flexibility to push the cycle back a bit, AAMC rules establish a hard deadline for when applicants have to accept an offer. So the longer they delay, the more they risk either compressing their interview season or running up against deadlines, potentially limiting their applicant pool to only those who have not received another acceptance.

They're going to have to do some sort of filtering to have any chance to get interview invites out in a reasonable amount of time. If they send out a secondary right now with three questions and take the usual 6-8 weeks for review, IIs can't start going out until November. I don't know if that's workable, which is why I think there's a chance for an NYMC style secondary at this point. If they do send a real secondary, I don't think there's enough time to do a real review, meaning IIs are going to be a lot more random. Who knows though, just have to wait and see...

Maybe they won't be short answer/essays. Or maybe they will limit time for review on the application like what Minnesota is doing to get II's out.

I also tried calling them and did not get a response, so I sent them an email. I will let you know if they get back to me.

They will send secondaries when they are done/ready/want to. They didnt just forget about the next class. There really is no need for us to call and harass them as they interally know how they intend to approach this cycle. Enjoy the break until it comes and I'm sure most of us have enough stuff prewritten to quickly turnover the secondary.

What if there's a technical issue they aren't aware of? Their email said "mid-August" so they've hit some sort of snag. Can't hurt to ask.

Keep in mind this is still a very new school, the inaugural class just started their M2 year, so there's not much of an established trend to build off of.

Also no MD school in the US will ever have a problem getting butts in seats. Three in five applicants (roughly) will get no invites, and any of them would be more than happy to go here regardless of when they sent out their dang secondary, including myself.

That being said, I just don't want to have to write another essay for the rest of my life

IIRC last year they had a lot of technical issues with the secondary essays and payment. If I’m not mistaken it got to the point where they just told some people to mail in the secondary with a check?

Maybe they’re just spending some time trying to be 100% sure that it goes smoothly this year.

Honestly more power to them if they're trying to avoid that issue again. Reducing stress on applicants is always a noble endeavor in my neurotic book
