2019-2020 University of Chicago

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
NYU had at least one student report a full scholarship and some MS1 chimed in saying they had several in their batch.
yea I think NYU gives like 10-15 students a COL stipend on top of free tuition, though I could have gotten that wrong

Congrats!! Mind sharing when you interviewed?

Rejected yesterday. Complete around 7/30. Best of luck to everyone still left and all of those with interviews!!

Think any decisions for early October interviewees will be released in November?

Im leaning towards a hard no. I was early sept and they said they’d release a few acceptances oct 15th but everyone else would have to wait thru march

Based on last year’s thread, it looks like they release small batches every month in the middle of the month leading up until the large batch in March
Congrats on your success.
From an outdoor enthusiast point of view, there is more than meets the eye in the Chicago area, the two exceptions are nearby thousand+ foot vertical drop mountains for skiing/boarding/single track mtn biking, and white water rivers.
But biking, canoeing/kayaking, Camping, water sports, beaches, less big skiing etc are all available.

Plenty of white water nearby. Head up to the Dells!

Question for those who have interviewed: so I understand there are 3 interviews—what is the planned duration of each of these? And are they scattered over the course of the day, or consecutive? Also, any words of advice or encouragement?

They're 30 minutes each. One with a student, one with a faculty member, and one with an admissions admin. They're scattered throughout the day and you could have some significant downtime during which you're allowed to wander around campus and check out the library, athletic complex, etc. The interviews themselves are very conversational they don't grill you on anything they just want to get to know you better. They're also very unstructured. My last one was right before the closing presentation and ended early because she had no more questions for me and I had already asked all the questions I had for her.

At my interview they said that they would do monthly batches, so was more so just wondering if people thought the november batch would still just be august/sept. interviews.

Does anyone know how Pritzker wants us to update them post-interview? I saw that there is an option to update through the portal but I remember them saying something about emailing them updates towards the end of the interview.

+1, dead silence from uchicago and northwestern, despite hearing back from many similar stat schools in the northeast. I'm convinced it's a geographical thing, like they think I'd pick a school in the northeast over moving to chicago. Uchicago's mission is right up my alley, so it's a bummer.
Do they ever hold applications? like review later or what is the deal? you think

yes i'm sure they hold applications, as that is common practice for all medical schools. i'm just saying it's a bummer they haven't gotten back to me yet. it's not the end of all hope.

So you think they review our applications and think - yeah this person is interesting- we will review them later?
