I got passed over too as a reapplicant (not to VCU in particular but in general). I'm really worried... 🙁Passed over this round. I’m a reapplicant and so tired of this...
Same here 🙁6:05 PM has come and gone with no change so... guess that's a no for me!![]()
yeah sameI have not, but that is a great question because I was accepted in October and haven't heard anything from them. I just checked the portal and this was on the bottom:
PLEASE NOTE:
Criminal background checks are completed by CERTIPHI on every applicant accepted by VCU SOM. Medical schools work with AMCAS through their agreement with CERTIPHI beginning with your primary application completion. CERTIPHI will email you in several days to begin the process. Please respond to them immediately. Your acceptance is not final until VCU SOM receives your CCBC report from CERTIPHI.
Mine did this a long time ago, and I haven’t heard anything since. I don’t wanna be the bearer of bad news, but I’m pretty sure it’s bad news.I had been checking my status maybe once a week, never went to sub-committee or anything. Just checked today and it says file review is complete, but also didn't get an email that notified me of it. Anyone else have something similar and not ever go to sub-committee?

Bad news would be an outright rejection. Until they have finalized their class, no news is still good news. Even if you are in the "potentially reject" pile, spots may open up if others decide to go elsewhere as decisions are released over the next month.
Hey guys I am so sorry to be the debbie downer again. But those numbers are from two cycles ago not this last cycle. Last year about 300 acceptances were given and over 700 interviews were given. The Post-II acceptance rate is more in the 40 percent now than 60 percent. I have cited my sources from @Dean Mission on previous pages if you all are interested. And realistically it is about 25% on December 16th because there are usually 200 on hold for acceptance for 50 acceptances. That ultimate number includes total acceptances with wait list. About 200 acceptances are given over the 4 dates and 100 from the waitlist.
Very true. I was thinking I would not get an interview from VCU this cycle, but instead got one in early January after submitting late. Everyone, keep your head up!
On New Years Eve? Dang these adcoms are working hard. Respect.
I just got an email update that my file review is complete (submitted late sept) and will receive a status update if offered an interview. is there a typical time between file review complete and a rejection or II? Not sure if it’s a good sign that it wasn’t a rejection or do they usually wait anyway

They really don’t. Like you can send in an update but it’s probably not gonna change much at this point.I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but does this school take update letters?
Just be aware that the surrounding areas are very different than the city itself. Richmond is very liberal, henrico County is as conservative as it gets.Any current students here have recommendations on locations to live? I'm nontrad with a family and we are hoping to buy a house in one of the suburbs around VCU, was thinking mechanisville?
I submitted in late July but my application status says I’m still awaiting subcommittee review. I’m assuming it’s going to be a rejection at this point, but is anyone else in the same boat?

File review complete is not limbo. It means your file has a number score And you could receive a II, but there most likely aren’t many left except for those that are to replace withdrawn onesMy status is now file review complete, I am guessing this occurred within the past 3 days since I check my portals almost every day (yes I am neurotic). Submitted mid-July. What does this mean so late into the cycle?
EDIT: combed through this thread, earlier posts suggest this is a limbo state and likely a bad sign. Oh well...

thats being realistic but it’s not over until it’s over! More II will be sentout as others withdraw so there’s always a chance
Exactly!!Last cycle, my status went to 'complete' at the end of January, and then got an II the first week of February for March. Plenty of time left for an II at VCU!
Last year the majority didn’t receive emails. This year it’s seems 50/50 I didn’t for example. So who knows.+1 to the file review complete! Although I didn't even receive an email so maybe this was a recent change? 😵
aww. Sorry to hear that.Pre II R just now
Its stings abit but it's all good. Best of luck to you!aww. Sorry to hear that.
Just the main admissions email. For those that have interviewed, does anyone remember who we are supposed to send 3+ month updates to? I can’t find the sheet I wrote it down on and don’t want to send it to the wrong person!
At this point you have been voted on and you have received your score. Realistically VCU is not big on updates. A new activity of 3 months is significant but if we are being honest at this point its not really going to change anything. What happens is essentially Dr. Whitehurst-Cook will take your update and paste it into the notes on your file, but it will not change the score that you received. Your score essentially determines everything.I interviewed in October but I don't quite remember what they said about updates. Do they only want updates of new activities that you have been involved for 3+ months? Or can you update them about any new, significant activity?
Withdrew what? Acceptance or II?Withdrew today; good luck everyone!
