2019-2020 Virginia Tech

Anyone else complete beginning of September with no interview but no rejection?
Being realistic, theres one more interview date and all of the II have seemingly been sent out for that already. I would say there is a >0 chance of filling in for someone who withdraws their II but thats the odds are very very low at this point. BUT >0

My boyfriend shared his LOI to this school with me earlier this morning through GoogleDrive, and of course the first words I registered were "Virginia Tech" and "Invitation" in the subject line. Guess whose heart stopped for about 300 ms today before they realized what an idiot they are??? 🤣

Does anyone know what sort of healthcare insurance options are available for med students, besides VTC's healthcare option? Is there a Virginia version of Medi-Cal?

Also got the pre-II rejection.

I love how they say how much they value re-applicants lol... Last March I had a 45 minute phone call with an admissions counselor that ended with her emphatically stressing that I apply here again next year.

I guess the third time's the...wait, I'm out of money.

Ugh, I feel for you so much! I am a reapplicant as well. SMH at how expensive this process is and how there are no guarantees.

That is incredible feedback. I too received good feedback from VTCSOM last year which guided my new application. I do wish he had given me specific interview feedback thats unheard of!! Now that I think of it though maybe I didn't want to hear my feedback... it was my first interview and I cringe looking back at it now.

I can't believe that one can be "too assertive" in an MMI. That's crazy! Sometimes I feel like MMI's can be your best friend because of how objective they are, but 7-8 minutes is not a lot of time to evaluate someone, so I guess that means they also have to be more critical during that short period of time.

@mushu22 It's all good, I was accepted to a different school on Wednesday...assertiveness and all! 😛

@ those who've interviewed: what was the dress code like for the Friday evening reception?

Apologies if this has been asked already, but does anyone know VTC's CTE deadline? I know they say that April 30th is when you "may choose to commit to enroll to VTCSOM" but I wasn't sure if that's when you absolutely had to change from PTE to CTE or if they're just referring to narrowing your final acceptance decision down to one school.

Every school has their policy as to when you need to commit to enroll. Typically it is 3 weeks or so prior to orientation so with that being said no you don’t have to do it immediately. I would call and ask or look back at the interview packet for specific details on CTE date.

Thank you! That's good to know that it's in the interview packet - I haven't interviewed yet so I was hoping that it would be found somewhere in the materials given out on interview day.

Accepted here, found out a while ago. Just wanted to jump on and say to take everything you see on these forums with a gargantuan grain of salt. MCAT scores and GPAs are important, but this is a human process and it's not helpful to compare yourself to anyone else. If this is really what you want to do, keep pushing, keep reapplying and you WILL be accepted to the school that's right for you.

This is so hard and parts of it feel really discouraging and make you question everything, but perseverance is always rewarded.

Interviewed here on 1/11/2020. Thought I would remember the timeline they gave us for hearing back, but I was way too nervous to remember anything. Does anyone know of when we are supposed to hear back? I know they mentioned March 15th, but I thought that was more so a part of the traffic guidelines.

That's what I remember as well. I believe they are grouping us with the February interviews.

Interviewed yesterday. At the reception on Friday, Dr. P mentioned last week of February or early March and stated that this is because they would be expediting the review process. I don't know if this applies to your group as well, but thought I'd share.

Any idea how many Acceptances have been offered? Or what its going to look like for the "April Round of acceptances"? Interviewed in October, active-status pool.

When were they supposed to get back to the 2/8 group of interviewees? End of this week or next?

Would we be able to update them?

I was a 1/11 interviewee. They told us March 15th was the date we would hear back. One of my friend's from the 2/8 group said they would expedite the process to last week of Feb or first week of March.

Might as well update them. I know Dr. P said they love update letters.

Yea, because their numbers are so much lower than other schools, the adcom only makes decisions after 2 interview dates (which means every 2 months). So if you interviewed in Jan you'll be reviewed in the same meeting as the Feb peeps and all hear at the same time. I interviewed in mid Sept and heard back in late Oct.

I'm really really hoping us January and February interviewees hear back today although I feel like it's still a little too early

Omg this was literally me. I was in the worst environment possible to receive a phone call and was essentially yelling into the phone 🤣

This makes me feel loads better!!! I was also in a very public place and I'm sure that people around me thought I was psycho, haha

Wow, congratulations everyone! And thanks for thinking to update the thread. I didn't get a call today - (yet?) but it's nice to be in the loop and to know what is going on. VTC is a really special school, and they are lucky to have you!

This is super kind of you!! Sending lots of good vibes your way 🙂

Hi everyone! Two questions - first, is there/will there be an accepted students Facebook page? Second, does anyone know the exact date of orientation yet?
