2019-2020 Wayne State

My interviewer told me the ADCOMs aren't even meeting until Oct 1st and we'll be getting the EDP decisions late this year (1st or 2nd week of october). Regular decisions will be "god knows when". However no one else heard anything remotely similar to that, so I'm hoping there was a mix up of info on their end.
AAMC requires they give out a decision for EDPs before Oct1 so what you heard was probably (hopefully) only for reg decision.

I interviewed on 9/13 and Abhi announced to my group to expect to hear regular admissions decisions in 1-1.5 months.

Anybody else here not impressed with the school after the interview? I love the city of Detroit and a lot of the clinical opportunities thru WSU looked fantastic, but the school itself seemed really... chaotic? Like I don't know how to place it but it felt like being in a high school lol.

Before people call me out for being ungrateful, I'd absolutely love to come here at the end of the day, but yeah... I'm just being real: I was not impressed

I can relate. At the end of the interview day, one of the tour guides asked us how we felt the interview day was organized and executed, because "the administration isn't always... there." They were shocked when I told them that everything seemed fine lol. To have a student, let alone a tour guide, say this...... big yikes.

Other than that, school seems great, and I truly think the clinical experience would be special.

That'll be really annoying if some offers weren't given October 15... I don't get the reason for them being so behind when interviews started back in Early September and first offers wouldn't be until October 15.

She specifically told me that EDP will hear in like the 1st or 2nd week of october, because i even doubled checked and ask if she mean't EDP, and the RD in god knows when.

Edit: I even specifically mentioned AMCAS requires us to hear back by Oct 1st. I was very very suprised to hear about that. She even acknowledged it.

I'm just hoping she had some misinformation.

Really? Wow that’s strange. Abhi told us that the adcoms would begin reviewing our files the day after the interview and that EDP would receive their decision by October 1st.

Honestly, Abhi is probably more informed than the interviewers. I was just suprised about it tbh.

Same. I love the clinical experience but was largely turned off by the disorganized interview experience. After having gone to a few other interviews and seeing how well-structured they were Wayne lost some esteem in my eyes.

As per aamc rules for EDP, Oct 1 is the deadline for them to release EDP decisions so I highly doubt that that’s true

To be fair, any school could give it after Oct 1st and what is AMCAS going to do about it? Take the school off AMCAS? Those deadlines don't look as enforceable as they seem to be.

I just hope Wayne does what they wrote on their own site.

Yeah that’s a good point. But I think if Wayne doesn’t post by Oct. 1st then they could lose credibility for their EDP program by future students. Personally, if I saw a school didn’t meet their EDP deadline one year I prob wouldn’t risk applying there.

ESP since there are still some students who wish to apply to other schools ASAP. Abhi emphasized that they want to release the decisions before Oct 1 for those students.

You're probably right, although the it would be just credibility for their EDP program, they'd probably get lots of apps for regular decision. Seems like someone else also heard that RD won't hear back for another 1-1.5 months, which is ridiculous lol.

What if they want to lose EDP credibility so they lower the number of EDP applicants? Hahaha. It was like 10 people a couple years ago, now it's likely over 50.

Pals, I just contacted the admissions office earlier this morning. They told me that they're on track with the EDP applications, and EDP applicants will hear back by Oct 1st.

Any word on regular decision? Will it be on or around October 15?

Sorry boss, I didn't end up asking about the regular decision applicants. But don't be hesitant to call them, I've called them previously a few times already and they're always very understanding.

Do y'all know if Wayne is still sending out II's? They last updated the tracker for a major wave of invites like 2 weeks ago.

Y'all think it's too late to submit to Wayne State? They've sent a couple letters to my home past few weeks.

Maybe this was already mentioned, but does anyone know what the post-interview acceptance rate is for Wayne State?

I believe US news had it somewhere that if you account for people who withdraw their apps after the interview, it's like 78%.

Shouldn't it be total student class size (~200) divided by total interviews given? (~1000). Based on this, it should be around 20-30% acceptance rate post interview.

The class size at Wayne State is around 300 per year. Also remember that there are always more acceptances sent out than the class size, usually around twice as many, because many people who are accepted don’t end up matriculating at that particular school.

Folks getting interviews throughout this past week with no updates having been made to the application tracker makes me think that +400 addition to “Interviews Requested” two weeks ago may have been added a bit early.

Nevertheless, congrats to all of you who got interviews! I wish you the best of luck in them!

Congrats to those who got interviews recently! I've noticed there are a lot of higher-stat II's going out these past couple of weeks (ie. not me lol), but I noticed that the accepted stats for Wayne aren't particularly high, at 3.74/510. I wonder when the pendulum swings the other way...

I thought this as well, as it was around 880 for several weeks even with some II’s sent during those times. It looks like it got updated to ~1200 today though so I hope they do prematurely update this before they’ve send all of them out.

I really don't understand. Last year around this time they had only requested 600 interviews, now they've somehow requested 1,220?

I applied back in early July and still haven't heard anything from them.

Yeah I’m a bit confused too, also complete in July. But it could be possible that they are requesting more interviews than previous years as many might cancel their interviews starting mid October when they get acceptances from other schools they’d attend over Wayne?

They still seem to have the same amount of interview day and slots as last year, with it being just once a week. If the interview spots are the same, I don't see them sending much more interviews. Last year they sent something between 1400-1500 interviews. So there's still up to 300 left

This is honestly where I’m confused. Why have the majority of interview requests been sent out so early? Especially after so few other schools have sent out acceptances.

It all feels premature for a school that doesn’t even have rolling admissions.

I thought they do have rolling admissions?
