I’ve been researching about the interview and heard some people in admissions say a few years ago that the interview with the faculty member is about an hour, while the student interview and MMI portion is about 30 minutes each. Is this still true?

Yea but they have a LOT of waitlist movement. I think the post-II acceptance rate is actually somewhere around 66% because of how much waitlist movement they have, and how many acceptances they actually extend (I think it’s somewhere between 500-600 based on past class sizes) to fill such a large class

I hope so! I hope we hear some good news soon. I only got waitlisted recently and really feel for the others who have been sitting in WL limbo for a while. Hope we all get accepted sooner rather than later!

Anyone with reliable information regarding the acceptance deposit policy for Wayne state?

I was waiting for additional instructions in the mail as per the acceptance email, but it has almost been two weeks and no update. I have some contradictory information. I have read on some old treads that "there is no deposit required." On the other hand, I have read on the school website that a "payment of a $50.00 deposit is required upon acceptance."

I don't want to miss any deadlines waiting for the mail.

Your help is much appreciated!

It took a little over a month for my written letter to come in the mail. However, it didn’t come with many additional instructions lol. Basically what I know is 1. Submit FAFSA for financial aid 2. Send transcript 3. Background check starts coming out Jan 1. I think additional info will come out slowly since most people who will end up attending have not been accepted yet. I would really like to know when second look is though

I see some people saying that there was no indication/steps on how to accept their offer and some people saying that they needed to accept within 2 weeks in the portal, can anyone clarify this? Do accepted students have 2 weeks to accept?

Yes, you will have to accept your offer within 2 weeks if you plan on attending. There will be a new link on your secondary portal that enables you do that.

The discussion above regards the acceptance deposit (which I have learned not required at this time).

I wouldn’t lose hope yet! We still have about three months of interviews. And this weird 150 update maybe an error that occurred (happened before already); it is weird that within these past two days no one came in to post about getting an II like when other updates happened. Or they may have updated to early and 150 IIs will be going out in the near future, but haven’t been sent out yet.

And if this is in fact the correct number of interview requests that have been sent out at this time, there can still people that decline them! That and they are hoping to do 1,500+ interviews this year, so even under the circumstance that everyone who got an II goes through with them, there are still 300 interview requests at MINIMUM, that have yet to be sent out.

If you are really interested in attending, please send us a letter of interest (by uploading it to your student portal). These are generally well-received by the adcom and prove to us that you are genuinely invested in our school and not just applying as a "safety school"

If you have been interviewed but were waitlisted, I would suggest drafting a letter of intent (but only if you are committed to Wayne only, if you have several schools you are planning to attend, to send a letter of intent to one is fictitious and reflects poorly on your candidacy). This letter should update the committee on your pre-med/med related activities and show us that you are continuing to "better" yourself in the field of medicine.

I sent in my LOI in June and was accepted at the end of that month, so it is worth a shot for sure

I'm like 99% sure that they won't accept anyone off the waitlist this cycle until after the AMCAS deadline for holding an acceptance to only one school. All schools are acting more cautious cause of the AMCAS changes, interviewing and waitlisting more people than usual.

This year is different, but we'll see.

Last cycle we had the same AMCAS changes and deadlines, as we were the first ones to experience them. There's going to be some waitlist movement until the 1st date hits in Feb, just not a ton.

I can't speak for other schools, but Wayne most certainly adopted these changes last year. I would know, as I was part of that cycle and currently go to this school lol

EDIT: I also recall some of my classmates getting repeated emails about updating AMCAS Choose Your Medical School Tool as deadlines approached since the school wanted to keep the waitlist moving in an orderly fashion

That's good to know, although several of us were also part of the cycle last year too. The email doesn't exactly say they changed their admission process though. What seems different is that they have been interviewing more people this cycle, plus accepting a lot less right off the bat. While the credibility of the admission tracker is questionable, looking at how many people are simply getting waitlisted on SDN and how the tracker only has 30% acceptance rate so far, it is very little compared to last year and in general. It just looks like they're doing things differently this year like other schools. All the poor EDP people getting waitlisted this year too is a big anomaly.
