Hi All. I was pulled from the interview waitlist today.

Only interviews available are those in Morgantown. If I select one of these, will I be placed here? Sorry if this has been previously discussed. I went back a couple pages.

Thanks!
Sorry if you already answered this, Are you in-state?

Can anyone offer insight into the tiers of the waitlist for interview? I emailed the ADCOM and I’m mid-tier. Is there typically any love given to mid-tier when it comes to extending II?

Wondering the same thing my friend.... have not been able to find any information on this. Not sure how deep their II waitlist is... maybe they get to mid and low tier later on in the II season? Let's hope so 🙂

My impression is most applicants were places on pre-ii waitlist..They haven’t sent too many Rs. I think it’s basically a soft r..but there is always hope

Has anyone who has interviewed at West Virginia stayed with a student using MedStay? If so, when did you hear the details of where and who? I interview in a few weeks and haven’t heard a thing.

Yeah - I got an email 9 days before my interview

How was your stay? Any advice
It was fantastic. My host talked with me for like 3 hours the night before the interview and I ordered us food for dinner. My host had 2 bedrooms and had linens and everything out and ready for my use. I 10/10 recommend BUT I'd email to ask where you're sleeping, etc because I def need my own bed/space the night before an interview.

Thanks - good info as always!

Here's a dumb question - how did you get from the Medstay host to the interview? Uber? Walk? And did you have to bring your luggage with you?

I drove... but could've walked bc it was 10 min away. I had my luggage in my car. My host gave me a key and offered to let me keep the luggage there and stay a second night even though the program said one free night so YMMV

Waitlisted today. Interviewed Oct 26, Canadian, no ties.

That's really nice of them!

Has anyone OOS actually gotten accepted? It's looking like a sea of OOS WL out here lol
If I'm remembering correctly, I think my interviewer told me that 80 percent of OOS candidates get waitlisted, 10 percent get accepted, 10 percent get rejected, but there's a lot of movement in the waitlist usually.

For those of you that have already interviewed does the day actually go up until 3:30 or is interviews at the end of the day and you leave after your interview? Just trying to figure out travel plans.

Did the admissions team seem receptive for asking for an early interview or trying to work around the interviewees schedule? You probably won't know that but just curious if you did

I didn’t ask because I had no rush. You can always call or email to ask!

so my memory is failing me. I thought I did not fill out the pre-interview form so I sent an email right now (since the link expired) apologizing for not filling it out and asking how to proceed. But now, I remember that I'm pretty sure I did it. Will it look terrible that I sent an email.. or am i overreacting

I'm not sure how they will respond. However, I think sending an email saying that you didn't fill out the form is better than not filling out the form.

Just for some reference, I received the pre-interview form on 10/21 and received confirmation of submitting it on 11/4 which also said the parking pass will be sent later. It would be interesting to know if the pre-interview form locks out after submitting it or only 2 weeks prior to the interview.

Anyone else interviewing 11/14? I'll be driving from Pittsburgh airport the night before if anyone needs a lift.

It was when the school emails you/changes status on their application site that "your file is complete". AKA all the letters, secondary apps, etc have been received and your app is ready for review. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
I received interview invite before submitting my letters of recommendations .

I have a really chill month coming up, so if anyone has any questions about the program at WVU, medical school in general, or anything else, I'll check once every day or every other day.

I was waitlisted very early, 10/15... when is the best time to submit a letter of interest in hopes to get pulled off the WL? Was thinking January/February but I have no clue how all this works

Was anyone accepted from the 11/15 interview date? I know we were all out of state so I feel like our interview session could be a good representation of OOS post interview A's

H/P/F grading should not be causing anyone any stress until MS3. No one cares that you didn't get honors in PDCI first year, basically no one will care you didn't get honors in anything. The MSPE has a small paragraph on how you did first and second year, but focuses mainly on clinical performance and comments.

Not liking WVU for having a H/P/F grading system is really weird.

So it sounds like many OOS people who have interviewed thus far have been waitlisted - to be expected. Has anyone been able to see a trend from previous years when they started to name those OOS acceptances? Was there a key month when many people heard last cycle?

but if you're choosing between a school that does H/P/F MS1-MS2 and one that does P/F unranked completely (as in not ranked on the MSPE in any regard), why wouldn't you want the less stressful version? What's the purpose?

Assuming all things are equal, it makes sense to choose a completely unranked, unmetered MS1 and MS2. Schools are rarely like that, the MSPE will definitely comment on your standing in first and second year in terms of quartile. It also makes AOA a ridiculous notion. I like the H/P/F because in the cases where I did enough to get that H, it was there, and if not, I was still in the top quartile which is on my MSPE.

Hey interviewing in a week and do you have any inside as to how interview goes what type of questions... what to expect
It was super laid back, both interviewers had read my file throughly, so be prepared to answer questions about anything you've submitted. Even then, it was still very conversational and friendly.
Good luck!
