2020-2021 Albert Einstein

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
for anyone who is HPWL, what are you writing in your email to staff member they listed? a full-on letter of interest or just a short statement accepting your place on the waitlist?

Does anyone have any insight on if people get pulled off of the normal WL? It’s feeling a bit like a soft R right about now especially with the HPWL... trying to stay optimistic but ugh.
Last year the same amount of people reported getting pulled off the "hpwl" as the regular wl. Hpwl just heard back sooner.

Do any current students have insight as to how merit scholarship is given out?

For those on the WL, would sending a LOI be a good idea? Or does Einstein not welcome updates/LOIs after decisions?

Hey! This was pretty confusing my year too. I am pretty sure you need to fill out the FAQ either way, unless things have changed. Here is the link to the FAQ

https://einsteinmed.org/uploadedFil...aq-einstein-incoming-students.pdf?version=1.1

If you really don't want to fill this out, definitely email student financial aid at [email protected] just to make sure that's ok - they can answer any questions. They are usually really responsive.
I emailed, they said no need to fill out FAQ to be considered for merit aid.

For those who have interviewed, how long was the interview day? I’ve only received info about the interview itself (no info sessions or student panels). Thank you!

In order to be eligible for merit aid, do we have to do/submit anything other than the questionnaire?

No, and someone above said you don't even have to submit the FAQ. I submitted my FAQ on Thursday and received the email yesterday so I would be surprised if they even looked at it considering the turnaround time.

I submitted mine right after you on Friday, I was also pretty surprised until someone said it wasn't necessary

What did you guys think you got the merit aid for?
Not sure, but the letter I got says "scholarships are awarded to students who have most clearly demonstrated the qualities of empathy, maturity, compassionate leadership and responsible judgment, and in recognition of academic and personal achievements, as well as dedication to community."

Can you “ask for a friend” if merit aid is still going out? 🥲

Also got merit aid and have not yet submitted FAQ or tax returns. Where do we send those financial aid documents to?

For those who were given merit aid, would you mind sharing your stat?
I'll share my stats, but want to acknowledge that the Dean of Admissions said that they consider community commitment (I have a pretty strong distaste for the word s*****e) not just stats.

ORM 519 3.8x, spent significant time over the past three years living and working in marginalized communities, rural and urban.

For those that got merit aid - did the email itself say merit aid, or was it an email stating your "first year financial aid award notice" ?

Looks like if merit is a separate "SCHOLARSHIP" email, then those of us that received loans only today also can get scholarships?
