What has happened at numerous schools, and what lies are you talking about?

Lower board scores/pass rates for first-year classes, then a bump in scores and pass rates for subsequent classes has happened at numerous newer schools. That trend has largely held with a few exceptions. About the lying, just stick to published information rather than what someone tells you, and you'll have a better chance of not being hoodwinked.

This is just a reminder of how much I dislike premeds sometimes... Jesus.

I'm not a premed.

So are you saying that information published by the school itself is not accurate?

I am definitely not saying that the current stats are inaccurate. I am saying that administrators embellish and/or exaggerate for interviewees as part of the recruitment process. FYI, they do this for faculty as well, and yes, I understand it's part of the sales pitch. Ask to see graphs/data sets, and see how far you get rather than just being able to see a bullet point in text. It would be better if AACOM, NBOME, or an independent 3rd-party reported statistics rather than schools self-reporting (AACOM and NBOME have some reports, but they don't report everything). This goes for all schools, not specifically ARCOM. For all of the "evidence-based" talk, there is a significant lack of data-driven decision making from the top down.

The school is trying to sell itself just as much as we are trying to sell ourselves - Everyone should be aware of this and do their appropriate research. It's still disingenuous to say that admins are "paid to lie."

Let's keep the thread relevant to its point - Asking/answering questions about ARCOM and its admissions process. Inflammatory posts like yours are not helpful to the cause.

I apologize. I may have let my frustrations with my own school's administration cause me to generalize and stereotype all administrators. Hope everyone has a successful application and interview cycle. I also hope medical school is a great time for all of you after successfully gaining acceptance.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I definitely thought the "paid to lie" thing was true until ARCOM bought a 300k sqft facility for research and community engagement. Something that ARCOM has talked about over the past few months and people (on SDN) thought they were bluffing. So far, ACHE and ARCOM has lived up to every expectation that I have had.

They’re not paid to lie. If you want to stop being an idiot and come up with a real cause as to why the scores may be so high is the weaker students have not taken boards yet. This count is not for the entire class of 2022. More will likely fail.

you sound like one of those trump election conspiracy theorists. I really hope you stay the hell away from my school. We don’t need people like you here.
Tact and Charity are lacking in this response. Otherwise, I do agree they are not paid to "lie" but of course conclusions can be jumped if the data is incomplete.

We might be dangerously close in terms of stats it isn't even funny. I would wait for January to call them and ask what's up. As for MCAT take it at your own discretion, I probably will be needing a retake but I will have it much later since I am on 4 post-interview waitlists. Just need one A to drop the ball honestly.
oh shoot! did you turn in secondaries early? 4 waitlists gives me hope but good luckkk
and by taking your retake late do you mean like late January?

I might have to shoot ya a PM

Send me a PM. No, my retake is looking like June 2021. I need a break and I sort of am banking one of these schools will take me in. I am not sure what would happen if I scored lower on my MCAT when I retake, it might actually ruin any chance of med school.

Has anyone heard back from their November 3rd interview? I haven't heard back yet and am high key getting worried.

I interviewed on November 6 and I think they talk about the whole weeks worth of interviews (nov 3 and nov 6 interview dates) the next Friday (today) and we should probably know next week. That’s the trend I saw on this SDN thread! 🙂

Oh, sounds good. Hope we get in. Had a great time touring the school. 🙂

Interview this upcoming Tuesday. Anybody here willing to say if the SDN page for ARCOM Interview Feedback is accurate, and how the stress level of the interview compared to other schools?

IMO it’s going to be stressful no matter what because it’s your last hurdle to being accepted BUT compared to other schools I think it’s *less* stressful. They had emotional support dogs during the briefing portion and you can tell that they really put an effort to making you feel like home. My interview itself wasn’t very conversational and I wasn’t sure if it went well and so I was personally freaking out inside but everything else was super lax. I also ended up getting the A so don’t lose all hope if you feel like it didn’t go as well as you expected because you never know. GOOD LUCK! Be yourself and enjoy learning more about the school 🙂

About how long has ARCOM been taking to notify applicants that they either gotten a secondary or they've been rejected for one (assuming that they do this)? I submitted my AACOMAS to ARCOM on 1-Oct. So far, nothing in my bulk or trash folder as others have indicated might be the case...

Its usually about 2 weeks or so. At least that's how long it took for them to get back with a decision for my interview group.

Thank you. So this could mean that they are reviewing applications slowly/are behind or I just got turned down without a reason or communication...

They’re very selective with secondaries because they usually only send one to people they intended on interviewing (unless something happens and you don’t get an II after but it seems unlikely). If you haven’t heard back, it’s not a rejection until they’ve emailed you that they have not selected you for a secondary

Hey there! Quick question for those of you that were accepted. Would you mind sharing what your MCAT scores were? I’m trying to determine whether I can get in or not lol

Also, can any current ARCOM (or other people knowledgeable about rural areas) students tell me whether a car is necessary for 3rd/4th year rotations.
I don't have a car right now. I just finished the mandatory driver's ed. And I'm about to make a car purchase (brand new car: $20,000). I'm not buying used (I've had too many instances of used stuff breaking down in my life both personally and my work life so I'm not even going to bother with used).

Yes, depending on where you'll be at for 3rd/4th year, you may have to drive to different Hospitals and clinics. Public transport is not reliable here. Plus in 4th year, you may want to do audition rotations in different residency programs, and when interview season roll out (assuming covid is gone by then) you'll have to drive as well (or fly out and rent a car depending how far it is), so you will definitely need a car at some point in 3rd/4th year.

Can any current students speak on rotations? Are the core rotations near by or will I need to relocate during rotations?

If you wanna stay in Fort Smith, there are 2 sites there, Baptist health and Mercy Hospital. You can definitely get them for 3rd/4th year because they take a big chunk of our students.
