2020-2021 Colorado

Is it really over? Does anyone have reason to believe they are still making calls? 🙁

I’ve seen that people have heard into the afternoon on other days. One person a few weeks back said that they had “just heard not too long ago” and they posted around 3 or 3:30

This certainly diverts from their recent trend of Monday’s and Friday’s, why do you think they did that? You think more could go out tomorrow or Friday? Ha ha, trying to convince myself at this point.

I mean... it was kinda weird that it took all of 10 minutes this morning 🤔 but I’m also not going to set myself up for that kind of repeated disappointment.

Also got accepted yesterday! Dean SooHoo said that I would receive an email soon, but I haven't received it yet. Has anyone received an acceptance email?

Sorry if this was answered before, but accepting our spot isn’t binding correct? If we get an offer to another school, for example.

What is the difference between the alternate list and the waitlist?

From my understanding, I think Colorado has both an alternate list, which is unranked, and a waitlist, which is ranked. I wonder what circumstances they pull from each. Please correct me if I’m wrong

Waitlisted. OOS. 2 other acceptances but this was my top choice. Don’t know what to do next

Hmmm, I thought that CU only has an alternate list. I believe later in the cycle this list does become ranked in terms of tier level.

Thank you for your help. I may be misremembering. Which phraseology did they use in your emails (“waitlist” or “alternate list”)?

Edit: Sorry to cause confusion, I think I am misremembering.

No worries 🙂 It is sometimes hard to keep track of what school does what thing.

The people who were "WLed" above said that the email actually stated alternate list. It it easier to type WL, so people usually just use that synonymous term instead I think.

When I remember reviewing last year's thread, I think I remember it being clarified that the alternate list and waitlist are two identical terms to describe the same state of your application. Some schools use one over the other.

Anyone have any info on previous cycles movement in the waitlist?

Does CU pick applicants off the waitlist only near the end of the cycle (April, May, June) or is it possible to be accepted off the waitlist before this point?

For those who are accepted, am I reading it correctly that the branch preference is due within 2 weeks of acceptance? :O I'm kind of confused because the options include 'I would like to learn more about'... Does anyone have more background on that? If I submit that form, am I really only signaling my interests and not committing to a particular branch?

Hey there. Yeah, they only gave me two weeks after the acceptance notice as well. I do not think that this is a hard deadline, though. I think some people said earlier that they handed it in late and were fine.

Basically, if are interested in the Colorado Springs Branch or the Fort Collins Branch, you can click those options and a representative will contact you at some point to chat. I do not believe that means that you are committing or cannot change later. If you are not interested, you can just click the default campus (Anschutz).

I clicked CS branch and i just got a call and email from their Dean offering to provide more info. I think it's just to gauge interest. I don't intend to pursue the CS branch was just interested.

Any international (Canadian) applicants hear back about an II?

I went under review in October time! Idk whether they've gotten to our dates or if they just look at internationals last 🙁

For the data junkies like me out there, I compiled some info from this forum and here's what I found... there's definitely a trend of Monday and Friday decisions, so I'll let Mondays and Fridays be my anxiety days, lol

Edit: "results" meaning acceptance calls, I didn't account for WL and R emails that came in the days after
I interviewed on 1/22 and am trying to manage which days I will let myself be anxious for a phone call. Sadly it could be any date, but I figured I would repost this because it is so helpful.
The 1/8 interviews got their acceptance calls on Wednesday 1/27 which was 19 days after the interview.
