Hi! First time writing in SDN, was wondering what people thought about the new md/phd program they are offering with Wharton (UPENN), I saw it at the very end of the secondary and was shocked because it seems to be more of an economics/Healthcare Management phd program as opposed to the traditional md/phd. I am not an md/phd candidate for any school but interested in an md/mba possibly so I think it could be similiar?

Did everyone get an under review email as soon as they submitted? - that simply the same as a complete email?

I chose 1) help underserved 2) freedom from supervision and 3) family in healthcare. I don't think choosing freedom from supervision is bad... I thought of it more like explaining why I'm going for MD/DO rather than PA.

No, I read last years forum and apparently they send them out in no predictable way. Some got them as late as November/December but still got in. Not saying you will get yours this late but I think patience is especially the game with Meharry
 
guys what abbreviation are you using for Meharry? MMC?
 
About how long are your essays for the two questions on the secondary? There's no limit or recommendation indicated, so not sure how detailed I need to be.

Wondered about this too since some schools have 75 words, others 2,500 characters. I decided to go with longer essays as I really wanted to showcase my interest in the school / why I think I'd be a good fit. Mine are about 1750 characters pre-edit. But no clue if its advisable to go longer or shorter when no length given. Lol don't lean on my advice though since I only have 2 R's and 0 II so far.

As a wannabe writer the best advice on this I can offer is to only write as much as you honestly need. Write it out, tell your story. Then come back some time later and read it out loud. How much of it is fluff and how much of it is actually answering the question? Did you just throw five adjectives in front of a noun without a real reason? In the end it's up to you and how you feel about it. Both of my essays ended up being approximately 500 words each. The "Challenge" essay, when I thought about it after the fact, could probably have been cut shorter. I got caught up in the story more than the question. It's all a learning process.

I did not enter any code. I just clicked on submit and it worked. I got the "application on review" email after that. But just to be on the safer side, I emailed the admission proof of my FAP

It reads "Thank you for your application to Meharry Medical College!
Please be advised that your application is currently under review by the Admissions Committee. Once a decision is made regarding next steps on your application, you will be notified by the Office of Admissions and Recruitment.

Is there anyone else whose app said the video interview page doesn't apply to you? I wonder what this means....

I think everyone's does. It just means we haven't been invited for an interview yet. You know how other portals only get an Interview tab if you've been given an II? This portal has an automatic Interview tab populated, but would only be activated if you get an II.

Oh, ok. It seemed like people in past years were saying they had to do the video for the supplemental and THEN also an interview but I guess I misunderstood. Thanks for the clarification
 
Does Meharry participate in FAP? I was approved but not given any code and the supplemental asks for a code....I have emailed them and tried calling but I'm just not sure how long it'll take them to get back to me and I want to submit my app ASAP of course

Meharry screens for their secondaries. Not everyone will get one and some people may get them later even if they applied earlier in the cycle because it is rolling admissions and they view applicants holistically. Patience is key with Meharry.

Are the links to the institution page from the submitted form not working? I got a confirmation email that my application has been submitted but I can't really see the checklist or make the links work.

People upthread said you can just submit and the FAP process just goes through, it doesn't make you pay.

Email them! For another school, I realized I misread a a question and wrote N/A. I emailed them because I figured the worst they could say was no we can't change it, but then they added it to my application!

There's no harm in asking!
 
interesting. did anyone who DID submit get that email? I didn't get one just now but got one right after I turned in my secondary.
