can anyone give some insight on the MIC? If you have interviewed can you share how it was applied during the interview
I interviewed Dec 4th and they told us that it's true rolling and that you have the same chance of getting in no matter when you interview!II yesterday! (OOS, complete mid July lol)
Scheduled for Feb 5 - does anyone know if being in the last interview day lowers chances of getting the A, or does Mich tend to accept some from every interview day regardless?
sweeeeet thanks!I interviewed Dec 4th and they told us that it's true rolling and that you have the same chance of getting in no matter when you interview!
How many more interviews do you think they still plan on sending out?guess this coming Monday may be the last Michigan Monday? 🙁 or at least winding down if the timeline is similar to last year
I still feel it close to 80+ more interviewsHow many more interviews do you think they still plan on sending out?
+1Deferred since October, got an email yesterday stating deferred applicants will hear back by the end of February.
I definitely agree that there's a chance for acceptance -- but if they were crazy about us, they would have accepted us outright. Why do you say that?? I'm in the same boat with the deferral but I feel like they wouldn't have deferred if there wasn't still somewhat of a chance of an A. The way I see it, if there wasn't any chance of getting in, deferred applicants would've ended up at the bottom of the waitlist
The point you made about Dean Gay and finding places for unique applicants is really interesting! I hope they think we're both unique lol.Wishing the best for you as well, friend!
I agree with your perspective and I think there are a lot of considerations you brought attention to. Of course, the pool of applicants we're competing against is greater. However, Michigan really does embrace the idea of building a community within their med students. Dean Gay frequently talks about this. Sometimes a person isn't outright accepted not because they're not crazy about them, but just because they want more time to see how this community is building with time and how they fit into it.
Also, based on your comment about only a small fraction of deferred students being offered an A, do you happen to have any stats on this? I only ask because I've tried looking everywhere and querying past threads, but I can't find anything.
Hoping the decision at the end of February is kind to us.
Last years post-II A spreadsheet shows them with 393 acceptancesThe point you made about Dean Gay and finding places for unique applicants is really interesting! I hope they think we're both unique lol.
You're right, I do not have the number of applicants placed on the "deferred decision" list. However, I do know that most medical schools accept b/t 1.4-1.6 times their yearly intake. This was pointed out to me on interview day at SKMC (Jefferson). So yes, Michigan may operate differently and take more than 1.6-times.
However, for the sake of my argument, let's assume I'm right and Michigan follows the 1.4-1.6x trend. Based on that knowledge, Michigan's intake last year was 177 students, which means: 1.4 x 177 = 248; 1.6 x 177 = 283. That means b/t 50 and 80 students will be accepted from the deferred decision group. I guess it comes down to how many students they placed on the list.
They conducted 422 interviews and have accepted 204 thus far. So, the DD list could be as high as around 218 students. And there's still a month left of interview season at Michigan, I believe.
On my interview day I believe they said they offer twice as many A's as they have seats. The point you made about Dean Gay and finding places for unique applicants is really interesting! I hope they think we're both unique lol.

Not sure if the R's are spread out throughout the day. But as of this second am still alive (complete within 3 hrs of receiving secondary in July, IS)...albeit with very little hope left 🙁Anyone else still in limbo/not receive the R this morning?
It appears that basically all of the R's were given over the course of one day last year before Christmasare they supposed to reject everyone at this point ??
hmm given the one month delay with primaries this cycle, i wonder if the same thing will happen, just ~1mo later. so maybe tomorrow or next fridayIt appears that basically all of the R's were given over the course of one day last year before Christmas
