The letter they send you is just a we've received your primary, you meet our minimum stats and so get a secondary.

Oh yeah I figured as much. I already submitted a secondary too. I just didn’t expect physical mail.

A bit random/off topic from comments before but anyone else receive an email saying that LORs still aren't in after submitting secondary on 6/16?

did you have to set up your own rotations? Where were you placed? How easy was it for you to do away rotations?
- I only set up my one elective 3rd year (but it was actually through the school) and then fourth year I set up my audition rotations.
- Each individual rotation (FM, IM, Surgery, OBGYN, Peds, Psyc) are set up through a lottery system where you rank your top 5 preferred locations. 90% of my rotations were in the city of Chicago.
- Away rotations were easy to set up through connections I made and through VSAS.

Anyone else waiting on them to receive individual LORs? Portal says it could take up to 2 weeks
I was waiting a couple of days and saw no progress so I sent them an email and within an hour I received a notification that all my checklist requirements were in. So I recommend emailing them just to push them!

It took about 10 days for me, and my individual LORs were uploaded via AACOMAS. I didn't email them, but they marked me complete eventually!

Is taking the MCAT in August too late for this cycle at MWU considering my MCAT got canceled due to COVID?

will do! Thank you 🙂

Just college
Disagree. The CV is the only information your interviewers have for the interview. If you think it’s relevant and will help demonstrate who you are to the interviewers, then include whatever you want.

I understand now. Thank you very much for including the info about the interviews. I apologize for the advice above!

Does anyone know if they will still send you a secondary if you have not taken the MCAT yet?

Yes, they sent me a secondary and I still haven't taken the MCAT. Side note: they said in their virtual sessions that they likely won't begin interviewing until September.

That’s around the same time that they started interviews last year from what I can gather from the SDN thread for 2019-2020. But they started sending out the interview invites at the very end of July at the earliest. So looks like hopefully right on track as last years timeline.

Does this school take fee waivers? Waiting to submit secondary for this

Does anyone else think all their answers are generic? like how much can i possibly know about your school during a pandemic to tell you Im a good fit. we have the website as our primary source. I wish secondary apps did not exist and they had 2 interviews. I genuinely just want to help people and theres nothing in any school that "stands out"

tbh you're gonna just have to give a lot of "bs" answers for awhile and hope for an interview. There's when you can be you and be different.

Been two weeks since my LORs were received at AACOMAS. Received an email from CCOM today stating LORs still not processed.

Don't be too hard on yourself. There are only so many resources at a school e.g. student organization, research program, an interesting aspect of the curriculum. Thus, I would like to think Ad Coms will expect to see students with "generic" responses (the same interests). However, I would suggest trying to fit it to your personal narrative. I see the secondary as a continuation of the painting you have already started.

For example, if you centered your personal statement around serving under resourced communities, talk about your plans to volunteer in student-run clinics or why this specific class would allow you to develop the skills and understanding to continue what you LOVE doing!

I would select a few aspects of each school that you truly imagine yourself utilizing and connect it back to your undergrad. I personally found it helpful to research the local events and programs in the community as well. I hope this helps in some way.

this was amazing! thank you!

I struggled a lot with this secondary, no offense to CCOM, but it was just generic. I felt like I was B.S.-ing my answers lol

Did anybody go to that info session yesterday? It was quite generic and I kinda hoped to get a better feel for the school :/

IDK if this helps anyone but I visited the campus before covid hit and I found the campus quite beautiful. They facilities are very up to date and the staff and students seemed very friendly. The campus is great if you like the more suburban feel and downers grove itself is an awesome suburb to be in.

if you like the city of Chicago it’ll be a 30-45 minute drive but it’s not terrible to hop to the city. Keep in mind since they are one of the original 5 they sort of get their picks of applicants so being generic on their website probably helps them to recruit a wide variety of people Vs say some schools that their mission statement screams rural family medicine etc.

Anyone know how big of a loan I’ll have to take for this school+rent+food

A small loan of a million dollars....Just kidding I was trying to be funny sorry have mercy

, it feels like it. I found a budget sheet on their website which doesn’t really make a lot of sense. AZCOM and CCOM have arojnd the same projected budget around 401k to 409 K on the thrifty option... cries alone

Wow that is so sad I feel like I'll be spending the rest of my life paying loans

People who have had their letters received by the school - how long did it take them to be received if sent via AACOMAS?

they were done almost immediately. Like I think 1-2 days later?

Does anyone have a good resource or example for how to write a CV for DO and/or MD schools requesting one?

Thanks!! Letters were uploaded to AACOMAS after I submitted my secondaries, been about a week or so now. Might call tomorrow

I believe on their secondary page they say it may take up to 2 weeks to update. But it may be worth emailing to get it expedited (I did this at 2 week mark and they had it done same day)

This might be a stupid question, but thought I'd ask anyone ways for the sake of my anxiety.

After you submit your secondaries, what specifically are schools looking for when giving out interviews? CCOM is my dream medical school, but my stats are slightly below their average and this is giving me high anxiety.
I am in the process of doing post-bacc work, and I am constantly updating the school as I get my grades. So far, I have been able to maintain a 4.0 with my post-bacc. I retook the MCAT and improved my score by a couple points (highest score increase in Bio/Biochem). I have a lot of clinical experience and great LORs.
