Welp I guess I wasted money since I have a 504. I thought I had a chance since it said 506 was the avg for the 2019 entering class but it must be harder this cycle because of increased apps due to covid

judging from last year’s thread, if you don’t have high stats (3.5+ and 507+) then you’ll be put on the II waitlist. they start pulling off this waitlist in Jan.
if one or both of these #s are super low, then rejection.

Would you say <507 but >500 would at least get you a chance on the II waitlist (assuming GPA is close to 3.5)?

i feel like that’s a safe assumption to make. i’m just judging this based off what i read through last year’s thread & it seems like they’re following the same strategy in terms of stratifying apps.

i may be completely wrong but... what else is there to do in quarantine besides speculate adcoms logic?

Maybe not. I'm the one they told they're looking for "at least a 507," but maybe they're placing people on hold that are close enough to 507 and rejecting those a bit out of their range. The whole process is interesting to me because some schools seem to value GPA more and others MCAT. It's the opposite situation at some other schools I've seen, where low GPA but 510+ MCAT people are getting denied.

I have >500 and got straight up denied, but my MCAT isn't much more than a 500, and my GPAs are solid. If I had to guess, I'd say if your GPA is solid and your MCAT is 504+, you have a shot at II waitlist, and 507+ have a shot at a straight up II atm. That's purely speculation on my part judging from their emphasis on MCAT and just assuming they have to be somewhat cautious. If they only went 507+, they might not end up filling their class since lots of those people would end up MD or elsewhere. I'm sure some people sub 507 will get II's later in the cycle that got waitlisted now.

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll get IIs at other schools tho!

I have a 508 and got interview waitlist, so they must look at other factors too

I’m confused how they are reviewing applications... Some people who have applied after me have heard back while others who finished their applications before me haven’t heard back. Who knows what’s going on?!? Lolz

uh... is there average MCAT not a 506? as in how does that work if their “minimum” is 507?

Someone fact check me
I am a first year at AZCOM. I may be wrong but my thinking is that if you do the masters program at AZCOM they may let you in with a lower MCAT score. I’m not absolutely positive on that but we have people in our class with a much lower MCAT than 507.

Do they actually say they review applications randomly?

Every school does it differently, and there is no guarantee that just because you submit earlier that you will get a decision before someone who submitted later. Some schools may read the highest stat applications first, others may read those with the most service hours, most schools have a combination of factors they stratify apps based on (of which time is usually only one factor).

hi! Submitted secondary on 8/2, just recieved my interview invite today! The scheduling options were for the week of 9/28 to 10/2, stated that interview would run from 7:30am - about 2pm MST, all virtual.

3.8 cGPA, 3.62 sGPA, 511 MCAT, cheers!
That moment you realize Arizona is in MST instead of PST so you have to wake up at 6:30 am

Anyone complete in June still not heard from them? I was complete 6/25 LM 68-69 and haven't gotten an email, no interview schedule in portal either.

I am in the same boat with the same lizzy score. I feel like we are in the gray area between MD and DO and they are still trying to decide what to do with us

II Waitlist, OOS, 503 MCAT, 3.9 gpa

Yeah, I thought of that. I'm starting to get a little concerned because I applied to 30 MD and 7 DO and don't have any II yet, but I know it's still pretty early in the cycle.
