Hi! Cincy is my top choice. I am OOS and completed my application in early July and submitted a secondary early September. I haven't heard back about an interview, so I submitted an update expressing my continued excitement about UC and what I have been doing since my secondaries were sent.... is there anything else I can do?

Cincy interviewing into April and Toledo into May have to be the winners of the longest cycle awards.
I don't understand how they're interviewing that late when the CTE deadline is the end of April? Like logistically how does that work?

If you have interviewed with UC, what was your interview experience? Curious what others think...

Any reapplicants who interviewed here and were WL’d in previous cycles received any love this cycle? In 18-19 they literally accepted zero people off the waitlist (pretty sure anyways)

Not a reapplicant but considering this year I think it’s quite possible they will use the WL

Do you guys all have PCs? or how are you doing the interview? I literally know 0 people who own a PC (except my school's library and that's not an option) and my interview day is approaching fast.

Current clinical student here, and in case any of you are wondering how the medical school is treating its students...
Other medical schools, even in the state of Ohio, are vaccinating their students. We are being told that there is no timeline on vaccination for us. We have also been informed that our preceptors may have us see COVID patients. For what it's worth, we have been told we can opt out. But...being in the hospital environment, the risk of being infected is somewhat high anyway. And, many feel it's our duty to take care of sick patients, but many of us are upset that admin isn't being transparent to us about the vaccine while other systems even within our state are vaccinating their students.
If you are choosing between medical schools...just keep this in mind...just one of many factors of course...but this lack of transparency from admin can be a lot

Is it because they physically don't have enough vaccines yet, or because vaccinating students is not a priority?

I personally know a lot of nursing students at UC who have been given the vaccine and somewhat frequently see posts about how uc health is “leading the way” in vaccine distribution in Ohio so at least from my POV it looks like they may not be making med students a priority.

I feel like this is true. Many fourth year medical students are on rotations where they are told to function like residents-in the curriculum you will see this as "Acting Internship". There is definitely a risk of COVID exposure here. And even in other rotations. Many of the work rooms are crowded (ie, impossible to maintain 6 foot distance from other people)-and logistically it's also impossible to wear a mask all the time, as people take them off to eat lunch which also occurs in these crowded rooms. Multiple students have also observed others in the health setting not wearing masks all the time. And think about it-as students-many of us feel it isn't our place to tell someone above us to "mask up"
No med student has gotten the vaccine from the school yet, however, and we don't know when we will or even if that will happen. It's true the residents have gotten even their 2nd dose, and as the above post mentions, so have nursing students.
I personally worry that if we get branded with the general population we truly will be the last to get it. Per the CDC's rules, young adults are among the last to get it...which might be fine in other situations, but...we are health care workers.
To anyone reading this, it's unlikely that you'll have to deal with yet another pandemic during your time here. And the school did organize for us a mass campaign for TB testing. But their COVID response has been very lackluster, and many students do feel that we are being "thrown under the bus"

Posting an update: the school stratified students (M3/4) into Tiers 1-3 based on exposure risk and has told Tier 1 when they'll be vaccinated apparently (this saturday). However, still no news at all on when Tiers 2 or 3 will get the vaccine.

Did anyone who interviewed get an email about a background check this morning? Trying to figure out if this means good news/is even from Cincy

II today!

Can anyone who has interviewed confirm for me if I can use my Mac for the interview without any additional software (Bootcamp or other)? Also, any input regarding the MMI would be appreciated (what to expect, how best to prepare, etc).

CONGRATS!!!
Can I ask when you were complete? And possibly stats?

Not trying to scare you or anyone else reading this thread, but prepare very well for this interview. It was my 4th MMI (and I've gotten A's from each "MMI school") and it was by far the toughest one. I personally believe that MMIs are easier than traditional interviews because you can use the same format/outline over and over, but some of the stations had really challenging scenarios that threw me off. Nothing crazy unconventional, but just think of those practice scenarios that you think "wow this would be hard to answer".

I really appreciate your insight and congrats on your incredible cycle!

Complete 10/4; I am OOS but HS and undergrad in Ohio. Since moving to WA state I earned my MSW and BSN and have been a trauma nurse for 6 years. I am hoping to come back to Ohio for school and or career. Currently have 1 DO acceptance but still waiting on an II. Should I give up hope at this point? Have they given any Pre II rejections?

I definitely wouldn’t give up hope yet, especially with your experience and connections to the state. When I interviewed last month the school spoke about how this cycle is different and their interview season will be prolonged. I have been an ICU nurse for the past 5 years myself so it’s great to see someone else on the journey, good luck!

Hi all! Interviewed with UCCOM Friday and am happy to answer any questions (besides talking about what was asked during the MMI which we are not allowed to disclose). OOS, nontrad, Hispanic. I agree with what someone said above that some of the scenarios are definitely tricky so be prepared! Wishing you all the best of luck and definitely if you haven’t gotten called yet don’t give up hope! They stated that they will continue interviewing into April.

Anyone else have trouble filling out the 25 years of residency history for the background check? Seems a bit overkill.

How would you prepare if you had to do it over again? Also, when did the interview day begin and end? Thank you!

I did some mock practice but I'd definitely more thoroughly review some of those tough questions like strengths/weaknesses and "name a time when" type things. It was 7:45 am to 1 pm plus an extra half hour activity you have to complete before the end of the day, but you can choose whatever time is convenient for you to do it.
