Anyone aware of the exact definition of a "physician thought leader"? The word thought is throwing me off
I took it as a physician who will bring solutions to pressing needs of science, medicine, public health, etc. Someone who will advance the field. Physician-scientists, physician-leaders, physician-educators, physician-policy makers, etc.

Does anyone know how much PBL is in the VT curriculum vs lecture? or like what a typical m1 schedule is like

I'm averaging about 400-500 words per essay, is anyone using up all 600? I'm kinda nervous about leaving so many unused words, but I also don't want to waste time by adding fluff

Secondary submitted today 8/25!

LM 74.9, IS, ORM. Best of luck to everyone applying here and to those who have received interviews!

Current M3 at VTC, just wanna say good luck everyone! I’ve loved my time here so far despite all this Covid biz. Quick word of advice for applications/interview....research research RESEARCH. Research is huge here and if it’s something you’ve excelled in/are passionate about it can definitely give you an edge. Keep grindin and feel free to message me with any questions!

So you wouldn't necessary have to design a clinical research project for the field of interest? You can just talk about areas in the medical field that more research and funding should be dedicated to?

can anyone clarify if the prompt " If funding were no object, describe how you would direct medical inquiry. Please explain a scientific study or a project that you would design" is asking specifically a NEW study to design or if a previous project we have designed before is valid? I am really confused here and not understanding explicitly what they are looking for. thank you!

I would lean towards creating a new study but no one really knows. Personally I think using a previous project may come off as a little lazy and unimaginative. I built off my previous research but went in a new direction.

hey thanks for the reply! Yeah, so at first I had the same mindset as you and described a project that followed one that I previously completed (but it was still like heavily describing my previous project and then briefly at the end mentioned the next steps for a new project with very similar methodology and whatnot). But today I spent some time designing a completely new project. I think I agree with you with leaning towards a new project, so I may go along with that. Do you think it would be appropriate to email the admissions office for a clarification on this?

I don't think it'd hurt! I think they left it vague on purpose- I quite enjoyed this secondary 🙂

My secondary was was complete about a month and a half ago but it still says mine is "ready"

Hoping to hear back soon considering all the OOS IIs

Good luck to everyone applying!

In the same boat as you, really wish that they would change the portal status to reflect where we are in the application process.

Also side note, I keep seeing you on the SDN threads of the other schools I applied to so I think we may have a similar school list.

Considering I applied to 31 schools thats a high possibility haha

there are also a bunch of account with the same profile picture as me but afaik I’m the only letmeinnnnnn lol

any idea what the earliest date is that they will be sending A/R's this year? (for individuals that interviewed)

Any tips or places I can go to learn on how to prepare for VTCs MMI style interview? First time applicant. Thank you all for the support!

I just decided to submit a primary to this school. Does anyone know how heavily they screen before secondaries? I saw on their website the minimum MCAT and competitive GPA and things like that, so if you meet those specified criterion on the website, you will for sure get a secondary?

I don't think they do much of a screen for the secondaries, besides the minimum MCAT and GPA requirements. I got my secondary from them the day after my primary was submitted.

Reminder: if you do not get an early interview, it does not mean you aren’t getting in. My interview was in February and I got accepted in March.
Also, feel free to reach out for questions. As an M3 I remember the struggle, trust me, getting in to a school is the hardest part. Hang in there and stay confident!

This makes me feel so much better!

Screening here is strange, there is a minimum GPA/MCAT, but I suspect for all those on here it should not be a problem. However, there is a “secondary screen” for research. You must have some experience and it must be mentioned in your app, however far it goes from there I don’t know (but if research is mentioned in your personal statement, that helps)

Do you know if that screen is before/after the secondary? And I'm going to be submitting my first paper hopefully soon, so publishing date is hopefully in Jan/Feb. Do you think that would be a worthwhile application update once it reaches publication?

If you have a publication update, that is 100% a perfect reason to send an update message (that’s exactly what I did). The screen takes place in both cases to my understanding, as not everyone will exemplify there research on AMCAS.

II on 9/22/20, for interview on 10/10/2020.
Secondary Complete 9/6/2020.
LM 66.50

QUESTION: Did anyone get zoom links for the virtual interview?

Does anyone who's already interviewed know if they're interviewing a lot more people this year? Wondering if the post II acceptance rate is gonna be a lot lower or not

Been sitting on this secondary due to a recent family tragedy. Is it too late to submit?
