Does UVA particularly favor early applicants? I prewrote this secondary but kept taking it on and off my list and was wondering if it's too late to send my primary here this week

I am an M1 here. My application status from last year still says "Your application is ready", this is not something that will change, so do not let that discourage you!
Do they send you a R as soon as they review your app or do they send mass R on a specific date?

Does anyone have any tips or advice for the format of the interview this cycle? I have mine coming up this week.

Also, what is the timing of the end of the interview day? It says there is a financial aid session at 3:45 (post actual interview). Is there anything after that? I am supposed to work at 4:15. Wondering if I should call off or not.

I know it’ll be a little different this year with COVID, but I imagine the process is about the same. I interviewed with one physician and one M4 and they were both great. I was so nervous walking in but both of them were relaxed and they’re not out to get you. I know it’s kind of cliche advice, but just be yourself. UVA is such a collaborative, welcoming place, and they are looking for authentic and caring people.

Last year, the financial aid session was non required so we were free to leave once the interviews were done. All of us did stay for financial aid anyways, but there was nothing after that!

Hey y'all I interviewed here and just wanted to reassure people with upcoming interviews that the whole experience was really relaxed! The initial welcome session was surprisingly informative and seemed pretty honest (though partly that's because I really liked the humor of the presenting admissions dean). They have you watch a 15min tour guide video on your own, and then come back for a Q&A with current students who were also honest and super nice -- they were reassuring about the fact they have no influence on admissions decisions. My interviewers (1 faculty, 1 M4) were well-versed on my app, genuine + chill, and actually kept to the 30min limit; each of them left at least 5mins for me to ask them questions. And you get two 20-30min breaks around your interviews where you can step away from the computer and relax. Lastly, the financial aid session was mainly a 10min overview (they provide a handout and rightly assumed we could read it ourselves lmao) and then you could either sign off for the day or ask whatever finaid questions you have! 🙂

Are you guys sending thank you notes? It seems they make their decisions very quickly so it wouldn't have an effect on our decision, but would still be a nice thing to do. And are you sending it to the admissions email or looking up the faculty's emails online?

Does anyone know the post II acceptance rate here? According to last year's thread/info on their website, it is slightly below 50%. The spreadsheet posted on this site by TheDataKing, however, indicates that it is over 70%. Anybody have more info? Thanks!

Trust the info on their website.

Where do you see that info on their website? I can only find number of interviewees and matriculants, not acceptance rate.

Sorry, I should have clarified-there was a screenshot on last year's thread of the info on their website that provided this info!

Here it is!

To anyone who has interviewed here already: did you send thank you emails? Neither of my interviewers provided their email addresses and I can't seem to find them online. Thanks so much!

I also want to add that the interview was extremely relaxed, so don't be nervous! Both the faculty member and m4 student I interviewed with were amazing!

I didn't because I couldn't find their emails. Now I'm worried....

@prufrock2891 I'm not 100% sure if this is true, but based on previous threads I think UVA will send their first A's this Friday. They tend to get back to applicants really fast from what I've seen!
