2021-2022 Drexel

They only send info about parking, but the visit is a student-led tour - very lowkey tour of the med school building and then a Q&A after the tours
did the student reach out on where the tour starts and what not? also about how many other students were in your tour group?

so, it was actually Brian that sends an email - you enter the building and have to check in with Brian and after that he directs you to a room where you and other accepted students way and they introduce themselves/break us up into groups. Each group probably had about 15-20 people I'd assume?

will there be other second look/accepted student days for people who get in through waitlist movement that happens late April?

Nope. At that point, schools are not trying to sell or recruit people, so second look season is over. You are kind of like the person being called off the standby list at the airport. You are not being asked whether you want a window seat or aisle. You are being placed in the middle, and are thrilled that you don't have to reapply (err, wait for another flight 🙂).

It sucks being late to a party, but that's what being called of a WL in May or June is, as compared to people who have been holding acceptances since October through March. You are not narrowing down your choices, so you don't really need a second look.

You either have nothing or are holding one A, and you only have a week to decide whether or not to take the A off the WL, because they have a class to fill and they are running out of time. No time for second looks. You either take the A or they move on to the next person on the WL. And THAT is why some schools place a value on people who have previously indicated they will take the A if called.

Yeah I got an interview for the last interview day at one school, and they told me they had no info sessions for me to go to since it was already the end of March. They really don't care about people who came late to the party

Question for those who received financial aid: where did your award appear? Did you get an email notification? I haven't received anything yet and I don't see anything on the AMP portal

Out of curiosity has anyone who was initially deferred received an acceptance. I feel like deference is a soft rejection until you're put on the waitlist. I hope that's not true

If you don't mind me asking, how long did you have to wait between the deference and the acceptance? Also did you send any update letters while you were deferred?
Deferred in November, sent letter of interest about a week after my deferral, accepted in January

I was initially deferred in December and got accepted January. In between decision days, I only added a letter of recommendation. I've seen others who went through deferral to acceptance earlier in the chat/this cycle.

I got an email to my personal gmail about my financial aid award. It came from the Drexel Central email. Did you complete the FAFSA? I got my award quickly after I got notified my FAFSA was processed.

yeah, I completed my FAFSA back in February. I didn't get accepted until a few weeks ago so I'm wondering if that's why?

Maybe that's a factor, but I wouldn't know for sure. Did you add Drexel to your FAFSA?
I realized that issue last night.. I never fully completed setting up my DrexelOne account. Once I logged into that, I was able to see my aid. thanks for the help!

I'm still post II waiting on a response. How important is it to attend one of the diversity meet and greets?

I don't think it's important. It's mainly a way for students to interact with current medical students and learn more about the school. They don't take attendance so who even knows if they keep record of it on your application. It's a good idea to attend if you are going to commit to Drexel or if you are trying to make decisions between schools

Has anyone completed the FBI Fingerprinting mail-in process? I'm OOS and far from PA so I'm doing this. If so, how long did it take for the agency to mail back its report? My status says it's being processed right now, but I'd like to have an estimate of how long to wait before worrying something went awry.

I did mine last Wednesday and it came back yesterday. I’m in state though so it might take a bit longer for you

I don't think it's that important. NOT that diversity is not important, just the meet & greet. I went to one, and there were a couple of diversity reps leading the session, but it was more a general Q&A where people asked questions about a bunch of different stuff. If you have questions, by all means go, but it was super casual/people coming in and out (at least during mine), so I don't think they are even keeping track of who attends. Also people have work/class/etc, so they're not going to hold that against anyone.

If you’ve been assigned to the West Reading campus message me and I’ll add you to the Group Me!!
