That
During my interview the dean made it seem that a good amount of people would be deferred because they want to be able to give people who interview at a later date a fair chance to get in. He made it kind of sound like a waitlist but also kind of not. I cannot recall if he said people would get post II rejections or not.
makes me feel better so thank you so much!!

I’m not sure about acceptances, but I think they may have just started. I came to see if anyone else got deferred today with me so we could be hopeful together😅😅

The good news is:
no news is good news (for now).

They’ve started sending deferrals and rejections, and if no one here has gotten the A yet , then maybe they’re just waiting to send them all out with a flourish!
Your interview date was 9/21?

I'm here to add to the deferred pile. Interviewed on 9/30, received decision deferral today.

Deferred means you're up for re-evaluation compared to a new pool of interviewees in their next meeting. This continues until you are either accepted (happens often) or put on the official waitlist after their final interview date.

So, it's not an official waitlist because they are still considering your candidacy each meeting. The waitlist means you're being pulled off based on some criteria they set (i.e. ranking, or best match to someone who dropped their acceptance) and this is after accepted students are committing to their choices.

Deferred as well! Interviewed 9/21. As others have said, still holding out hope. I thought my interview went pretty well, but I was getting anxious that I was going to get an R due to some unintended virtual interview gaff 😅. Keep your heads up everyone, you've done so much already to get this far!!

also deferred-- I know we still will be reviewed each month but it doesn't seem like there were any post-II rejections. so deferral doesn't seem that great

Complete 7/13, has been silent since then, should I be worried? Worried that they missed my application somehow? Keep checking for an R or hold, but nothing. Also no II 🙁

Drexel I don't think reviews apps in order judging by the completion dates --> iis. Hang strong!

I know DUCOM accepts update letters, but does this include a letter of interest? If so, would I upload this letter to the portal or should I email it to admissions? Any help/suggestions are appreciated!

There's hope for those completed early!!!
There better be! lol Complete mid July and no hold, pre-ii rejection, or ii. Considering this school's is quite open to sending R and hold, we should hear something before thanksgiving

Unfortunately, this is just not necessarily true. The good news is that no news is not terrible news at a school that is pretty transparent with Hs and Rs. The bad news is that they are one of the lowest yield schools in the country, and attracted over 13,000 applications in the 2020 cycle. Who knows how many they received last year, or this year?

It takes a ton of time to work through that many applications, and Drexel is known for extending IIs into February and March. I think there will be a lot of people who were complete in July and August who won't hear anything by Thanksgiving, but will receive good news later. As adcoms constantly preach, patience is necessary, especially at a school with this many applicants.

Hello Everyone! I hope you all are doing well. Did you all get a reply to your thank you emails? Also, who did you all send the thank you notes to?

I just sent one to the faculty who interviewed me. I was not expecting a reply as they likely get them from everyone who interviews and replying could be seen as a waste of their time. Don't get worked up about not getting a reply.

Per an interview with them, they received 20% more apps last cycle than the 13,000 they normally receive. This year they are projected to exceed even that.

I didn’t get a reply but I sent one to the director of admissions and my two interviewers (student and faculty)

Thank you for your reply! Did you both get the email from the website for the faculty interviewer?

So there you go! That's why some people aren't hearing. If they have 16,000+ apps, and the vast majority are complete by Labor Day, there is no way all July and August people can possibly be reviewed by Thanksgiving. The nice thing is that they let you know once they have reviewed you, even if it's a hold, so they don't leave you hanging.

During our interview, we were told in the 2020-2021 cycle, they received ~18,000 applicants, interviewed ~1850, accepted 840, for a class size of 304. They also told us for this cycle, they project ~5% increase in applicants and will interview ~1750-1800.

Don't forget, the interviews they send out aren't for all ~300 spots. About 40 of the incoming M1 class seats are already set aside for the DPMS program students this year, assuming they finish the program satisfactorily.

Very interesting; do you know why the yield is more than 3x accept/seat? Personally found the school very attractive so don't know why it takes so many admits to fill up the class.

Speculation, but it may be related to ranking and some of the bad rep they've gotten due to rotations and one of the hospitals closing? Personally, I've gotten A's and II's to higher ranked schools but liked Drexel because it seems like their students match very well. And the flipped classroom curriculum is my jam.

Has anyone who interviewed in September not heard anything yet be in an A or deferral?
I interviewed 9/27 and haven’t heard anything. We were told 9-10 weeks so I was expecting to hear in November, but was thrown off when people who interviewed early October heard back already. The process is very different from last year it seems…

Because around half of the people with As have choices, and some of them have several choices. That's pretty typical for a mid tier school. The school is attractive. So are all the other schools it is competing with for the same students. Drexel isn't inexpensive, and they don't have a reputation for being especially generous with aid, so that's probably a big part of it.

My application was complete on 09/23, but so far I still haven't heard anything back from Drexel. Anyone who submitted their secondary in late September and received any kind of decisions (hold, rejection, interview invites)?

Is this one of the schools in which "no news is good news"?

I heard somewhere that for Drexel a hold is most likely a soft R....Or am I screwed either way lol
