To who? Everyone who hasn't yet received an II and will be interviewing even later? 🙂the earliest option I could sign up to interview was early october. Does this put me at a disadvantage?
last year i received a pre-II rejection in December, so they definitely do, but i'm not sure how early they start sending themHas anyone received a outright rejection yet? I submitted on 8/02/2021 but it understandably has been radio silence. However, I don't know if GU sends pre-II rejections.
If it makes you feel any better I was complete 7/2/21 and still radio silenceHas anyone received a outright rejection yet? I submitted on 8/02/2021 but it understandably has been radio silence. However, I don't know if GU sends pre-II rejections.
Not a Georgetown student, but I'm interviewing next week and just wanted to wish you the best of luck on your interview. Also, plz let me know how it goes LOL.hi are there any current georgetown students around that could answer a couple questions about the school? I'm interviewing this week and wanted to get some more info on it!
Just had the interview info day and it was really stress free. Even when they had people ask questions, they had you send them in the chat. You had to keep your video on, which was pretty reasonable and there were, I think, 26 applicants. They tried to keep it short and informative and there is a short break in the middle. Everyone seemed professionally dressed - it is worth thinking about your background and lighting since its over zoom and as annoying as it may be, impressions do matter even for the info day and especially for the interview. If you wear glasses, remember that we can see your computer reflection in your glasses - so don't go doing things on your computer that you shouldn't.Interviewing late September, would appreciate any insights and hearing yall interview experiences!
Hi! I also did the info session today and +1 to everything above. I just wanted to add that they mentioned info on what to expect in the upcoming interviews:Just had the interview info day and it was really stress free. Come ready with some good questions for medical students and keep an eye on the chat so that you aren't repeating another students question. They don't get to every question and this is probably the better time to ask more general questions than specific ones since they had 4 students answering the questions. Feel free to message if you have more questions. I interview on Thursday.
congrats! mind sharing stats?Just got my first II, complete 7/29/2021
MCAT: 520 GPA: 3.93 sGPA: 3.94congrats! mind sharing stats?
ngl mine was pretty stressful..Hey guys! Can anyone who already completed the interview comment on how stressful it was, if it was conversational, etc.? Thank you!
This school gets a ton of applications every year (the third most in the country ~13,000+). Of course there is always a chance even if you apply super late, especially if you have their average stats + lots of service + are a mission/values fit. But the reality is that a ton of people have already applied since people started submitting their secondaries to Georgetown over 65 days ago. So my advice is go for it if it makes sense for you, but know it’s a bit of a long shot.Do you guys think it might be too late to apply to this school?
Hi! Congrats on getting the GU interview under your belt!! Mine is next week, and I was curious as to what extent ethics played in your interview? I know it depends on the interviewer, but I'm just curious.ngl mine was pretty stressful..
my interviewer was an MD, so there was ~some~ conversation but a lot of just direct questions and answers
In the end it all kind of depends on your interviewer, but be prepared for questions about ethics, Georgetown, and the DC area
I wore one at mine and the vast majority of people in my group did as wellAre we expected to wear a suit for the info session at the beginning of the week?
It’s just the one interview during the time they send you and they will explain this to you on the Monday before your interview.Would anyone who's already interviewed mind commenting on the structure of the actual interview day? Once they send you the time of your actual interview, is it just one, one-on-one interview? Or should you still be available all day?
Yay, thank you so much! It’s just the one interview during the time they send you and they will explain this to you on the Monday before your interview.
I did get a call from a no caller ID number 45 min before my interview which turned out to be Georgetown asking to move it up making my interview start 10 min after that call. I don’t think this was a normal case and the interviewer just had something come up. Thankfully my schedule was pretty flexible and it actually stopped me from getting too nervous, which happens in the hour leading up to the interview. So I’d say to be a little flexible on the day of just in case. However if you can only be available during that hour that’s really all they ask of you, so I wouldn’t worry too much.
I feel you. I was complete 7/10 and still nothing. I guess we just have to wait. I don’t think GU interviews chronologically.Completed on 06/25 and still nothing... 🙁 does Georgetown go through and rereview applicants later on in the cycle (like George Washington does)? Or am I just waiting for an R since I was completed in late June and still have heard nothing?
Read up in the thread because I’m pretty sure I answered this earlier, but if you have more specific questions you can message meI have my interview coming up later this month. For those of you who have interviewed already this cycle, how was it? Was the orientation day very involved, or mainly just sitting back and watching presentations?
Only one. And they don’t want you to write like two letters in one pdf which is what I was going to do originally. Instead I wrote a thank you to the committee generally and spent a paragraph thanking my interviewer specifically.Does anyone know if we can upload more than one acknowledgment? From the portal it looks like we can only submit one
Are there instructions on the portal or in an email about this? It seemed to me after my interview day that it was okay and even encouraged to write thank you notes to multiple people on one PDF. I may be totally wrong though!Only one. And they don’t want you to write like two letters in one pdf which is what I was going to do originally. In the acknowledgment portal it says, "If you wish to include an acknowledgement, please submit one acknowledgement only." At first I thought one pdf with multiple acknowledgments was fine, but that sentence made me nervous, so I just smushed my acknowledgment into one letter to be safe. Are there instructions on the portal or in an email about this? Yeah that's what confused me too.. I'll do the same thing as you then thank you!!In the acknowledgment portal it says, "If you wish to include an acknowledgement, please submit one acknowledgement only." you are totally fine! on my day they said just go back into the main room if you have any questions but it's not necessary 🙂Just realized that I left the whole meeting after my interview instead of going back to the main room, did I mess up? Were we supposed to go back to the main room?
Oh thank god I was worried there for a moment hahayou are totally fine! on my day they said just go back into the main room if you have any questions but it's not necessary 🙂
Nope, they don't send out the interviewer's name before hand (though you could try sending an email and asking)! Getting to know my interviewer on the day of the interview actually made for some nice conversation though 🙂Hi did people who interviewed already know who their interviewer was? I expected to get an email with my interviewer's name the days before the interview, but haven't gotten any (I only know the date and time and zoom link for the interview). Should I send an email asking for their name?
Complete 7/10 and still radio silence.complete 7/7 and still haven't heard anything... should I be concerned
Just had my interview 9/14/21 and the Admissions Counselor (who is amazing btw) suggested we essentially write individual thank yous in the PDF - he said to include a greeting (example: Dear X,) and end with a closing (Sincerely, your name). Wishing everyone the best of luck this cycle!Ahhh oh gosh now I'm nervous too!
