Nah unfortunatelyAre they still offering IIs? Sent a last ditch update in hopes they do...

Ah that’s disappointing to hear :/ DGSOM was my top choice school…I think I was an October interviewee with no word. Maybe it was November… I don’t remember. Their Interview was not very memorable. Either way, it’s most likely a waitlist. But there is still a chance they are excepting more in a couple weeks
People are neurotic. Everything aside from 0 IIs left is just random speculation.Just curious, but why do we think this week is the threshold for being on a WL if one hasn’t heard back? It seems to me as though they don’t particularly go in order and people in previous years have mentioned getting accepted in late February and early March.
There is no we. Don’t become a part of the collective.Just curious, but why do we think this week is the threshold for being on a WL if one hasn’t heard back? painNah unfortunately
I’m sure your 2 As cushion the blow though 😅.pain
I sent one ~2 weeks after my interview! I had a new publication + leadership role so I wanted them to have this info prior to making a decision but after sending my update I received an email from admissions saying they most likely won't look at any updates you send post interview so not entirely sure if this helped!Question for those who’ve gotten an A: did you send update letters?
It does help, we all still have our top choices tho!I’m sure your 2 As cushion the blow though 😅
What's up with the thumbs down lol?Hey, did anyone else that's accepted get a phone call from their interviewer (after the original acceptance call) recruiting them to come to UCLA?
you aint see his comment before it was edited lolWhat's up with the thumbs down lol?
Not here but for another school I received two calls. I wouldnt say its too too uncommon. We might have two different definitions of recruitment, but it was a general congrats and "we really hope to see you here in the fall" type of thing.Hey, did anyone else that's accepted get a phone call from their interviewer (after the original acceptance call) recruiting them to come to UCLA?
Normally I would dislike this kind of language, but unfortunately you’re completely correct. I’m literally going insane with each day that passes by. UCLA needs to hurry up and reject me already. At this point it’s honestly unacceptable for them to keep me waiting since September without any response. Is there a pill that I can take to put me into hibernation until May? How foolish of me to think that waiting 30 days for my MCAT score was hard. Why is this thread especially crazy? California kiddos down bad?
This thread is spicy 🌶️. I'm basically rejected, but keep coming back for the comments lmaoWhy is this thread especially crazy? California kiddos down bad?
Yes, I’m especially salty considering this is my alma mater and current employer and they don’t even have the decency to send us a generic rejection email. I’m also salty that I’m unfortunate enough to be from California, where our state schools don’t care about us in-state peeps like other state schools do about theirs. It really sucks. 🙁Why is this thread especially crazy? California kiddos down bad?

I'm actually slightly curious... I took a look at previous years' threads, and the UCLA and UCSF threads are consistently more spicy than other top schools' threadsWhy is this thread especially crazy? California kiddos down bad?
Interesting.. lolI'm actually slightly curious... I took a look at previous years' threads, and the UCLA and UCSF threads are consistently more spicy than other top schools' threads
Competition maybe? Do you think this spiciness caries over into the overall medical school environment?I'm actually slightly curious... I took a look at previous years' threads, and the UCLA and UCSF threads are consistently more spicy than other top schools' threads
There's a redditor on the premed subreddit that said they received full COA scholarship at UCLA (which would be the Geffen), but no idea. I believe that @allseasons mentioned Geffen scholarship calls would start after the big acceptance wave in mid-February.Has anyone who has been accepted to a UCLA program heard about Geffen Scholarships?
i was told they will be calling mid-februaryHas anyone who has been accepted to a UCLA program heard about Geffen Scholarships?
I asked again today, and was again told that scholarships would begin release in late-Feb through mid-March. They never explicitly told me that no scholarships had been released yet, but it was pretty strongly implied. If anyone here has a Geffen or any other one though please share. There's a redditor on the premed subreddit that said they received full COA scholarship at UCLA (which would be the Geffen), but no idea. yea, I've had a few of those too, and I guess that also falls under recruitment. This one was just a little different, and a lot more insistent, if that makes sense. Like a "let us know what we can do to ensure you come" rather than a "we'd love if you came here".you aint see his comment before it was edited lol

could you provide us with a link lol. I'm curiousI'm actually slightly curious... I took a look at previous years' threads, and the UCLA and UCSF threads are consistently more spicy than other top schools' threads
Because the inner mechanisms of the UCLA DGSOM Admissions Office are an enigma.I'm actually slightly curious... I took a look at previous years' threads, and the UCLA and UCSF threads are consistently more spicy than other top schools' threads
I’m talking about those of us who are waiting for a post-interview decision. It’s evident that those who didn’t interview will receive the R pretty soon. And I wouldn’t even bother to worry about a school that didn’t interview me.You should just unfollow the thread if it's bothering you a lot.
Admissions stated (emailed) they're following the timeline on their school website i.e. January final month if you didn't get interviewed, you're done, as opposed to anticipating/extending into February.
I was looking through past year's threads, and it looks like UCLA doesn't even have an explicit waitlist. They send one mass rejection to all interviewers that didn't get in in June, and those who interviewed in September can get in even in April (without any waitlist notification).I’m talking about those of us who are waiting for a post-interview decision. It’s evident that those who didn’t interview will receive the R pretty soon. And I wouldn’t even bother to worry about a school that didn’t interview me.
This silence from UCLA is bothering me because my whole life is on hold. My wife will start a master program and her decision of where she’ll go will depend on mine. My kids want to go to summer camp and I can’t enroll them since we might move to CA or the other side of the country. Looking for housing for a family is not the same as looking for housing as a single 25 year old who just needs a bed, a desk and a drawer for their underwear and socks. And yes, I understand I need to be patient, but it’s been 5 months since my interview.
Thank you for being here. Quick question about your experience. When you were accepted in May, was it off an established waitlist? Was there any communication between you and dgsom after your interview and prior to your acceptance?Hi everyone!
I am a current MS1 at DGSOM, and I am the chair of the student admissions team, meaning I work for and am in cooperation with the Admissions Office (but have no bearing on admissions decisions). I advocated to the office to let me come on here and answer questions for you all as best I can, so I'm going to detail some answers below, but please reply or DM with any other questions you have! I'm just hoping to make this process as transparent and least stress-inducing as possible 🙂
1) Admissions Decisions/Acceptances
I am unfortunately not allowed to say exactly how many acceptances have gone out/are left to give, but I will say that offers of admission will be continuing regularly through February, and then slow down a bit after that. There's no official end date to acceptances, because it all depends on who accepts/rejects the offers! Admissions offers are likely to come out on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings (as you've all noticed), based on when the committee meets in the week. Any Thursday/Friday is a possibility (not just bi-weekly). The offers are not in any order/don't correlate at all with interview date--anyone can be accepted at any time! Ex: I interviewed with DGSOM in September and was accepted in May. I know it is frustrating to interview so early and not hear back for so long (I truly feel you on this), but please be patient! The committee has a lot of factors to balance and it's important for them to keep their options open as they go through the cycle. I promise they aren't keeping you in limbo just for fun and they don't mean to be disrespectful or unfair.
2) Scholarships
Geffen scholarships will start to go out in Mid-March. They are sometimes sent with the offer of admission, and sometimes sent separately. There are lots of other merit scholarships and need-based scholarships that will get offered as well (and they are offered to waitlist students too). I have full tuition and fees covered by a merit scholarship that is not the Geffen. I would also HIGHLY recommend you ask the admissions office for more aid if you feel like your offer was low/unfair. Myself and four other of my classmates did this and received more aid! And yes it is true that you can get in-state tuition after your first year as an out-of-state student. There will be info on how to establish CA residency once you matriculate 🙂. DM me for more info on cost of living in LA too.
3) Misc
Don't stress too much about a bad interview! Plenty of my classmates had bad interviews, bad internet connections, faculty interviewers who came really late, etc. It truly is a holistic process I promise.
And CONGRATS to everyone who's been accepted to DGSOM!!!!!!!! I love this school so much and I'm so excited to tell you all more about it. Def join the accepted students FB page to get more info about our school and upcoming events.
4) Second Look
2nd look details will be sent out to accepted students in the next 2 weeks! Stay tuned 🙂
Please let me know if there are any other questions I can answer!
Thanks for offering to do this! I was accepted through CDU/UCLA. I haven’t heard anything from UCLA about filling out fin aid or joining a FB page. Should I reach out?Hi everyone!

I was accepted off of the waitlist in early May. The only communication I had from UCLA after interviewing was the waitlist email I got in April--it did tell me that I was at the "top of the waitlist" and that I should expect to hear back soon.Thank you for being here. Quick question about your experience. When you were accepted in May, was it off an established waitlist? hey congrats!! The CDU/UCLA acceptances are on a later timeline, so my classmate and I haven't received the list of accepted CDU students yet to send out the FB page invite email to. Hang tight and you should get an email for the FB page soon! Thanks for offering to do this! I was accepted through CDU/UCLA. I haven’t heard anything from UCLA about filling out fin aid or joining a FB page. Should I reach out?

I just got a call from one of my interviewers where they did the same thing.Hey, did anyone else that's accepted get a phone call from their interviewer (after the original acceptance call) recruiting them to come to UCLA?
Is the big acceptance wave to occur in mid February or did it already happenThere's a redditor on the premed subreddit that said they received full COA scholarship at UCLA (which would be the Geffen), but no idea. I believe that @allseasons mentioned Geffen scholarship calls would start after the big acceptance wave in mid-February.

High key saw that and thought it was sketch. They then deleted the thread lol. There's a redditor on the premed subreddit that said they received full COA scholarship at UCLA (which would be the Geffen), but no idea. I attended their office hours on Wednesday and they said if you have a significant update, then send the update. They seemed to imply that solid updates like an experience you did not have at the time of application matter more than letters of intent to attend if admitted.Thank you so so much for being here to help us out!!
I’m curious about Letters of Intent/updates; UCLA is my top choice, and I’ve been debating writing a LOI (even though I’ve heard conflicting ideas on whether or not UCLA accepts them). I was going to wait to see if I got WL, but if there’s no official WL then do you recommend I send one now? Or is it true that UCLA doesn’t place much weight on LOIs/updates? Thanks again 🙂
For others in the thread who haven't received interview invitations (because there aren't any interviews being conducted), can you speak or ask the committee why it has outright refused to just hit send? As in the template rejection email?Hi everyone!

Same. UCLA is incredible, but I grew up in LA and it is really expensive and trafficky anyway ; )+1 pre-II R! Finally freed from the shackles of geffen lmao
They don’t owe us anything man….and it is only February. Just like literally every other school, they can choose when to send stuff on their own timeline. Is it rude? IDK maybe. For others in the thread who haven't received interview invitations (because there aren't any interviews being conducted), can you speak or ask the committee why it has outright refused to just hit send? bro i swear lol. This thread has been an absolute rollercoaster lmaoooooooo. They don’t owe us anything man….and it is only February. Just like literally every other school, they can choose when to send stuff on their own timeline. Is it rude? IDK maybe.
But why is the UCLA thread so much more toxic than every other population?
A wooden rollercoaster that caught fire from the LA heat that we are all trapped on due to poor infrastructure regulation/oversight while we suffer from smog induced asthmabro i swear lol. This thread has been an absolute rollercoaster lmaoooooooo.
