Yes, also got this. I’m just debating going to this one vs a later event because we have to RSVP by Oct 14th, and should hear about acceptance decisions on the 15th. I’d absolutely love to go, but if I found out that I didn’t get in I feel like there would be no point in spending the time and $$ to go. Any insight?
Felt the same way since I would have to miss work and another interview!

I assume you can always cancel if you don’t get in? It also doesn’t make sense to invite people if you are going to reject them, so I have a feeling that “successfully completing your interview” actually means something. That is probably just my wishful thinking as this school is my top choice.

On their schedule it looks like they will be doing these in-person visits every month. Maybe you could sign up for the next one then?

Any interviewees out there who didn’t get invited?

Anyone else interviewing next week? Have you gotten your interview dates yet? Getting concerned here since I'll have to scramble if they schedule me for a certain day

My interviewers didn't reach out until the Thursday evening before my interview week. They gave me a pretty big range of times to choose from so I wouldn't sweat it too much!

I haven't heard from my interviewers yet. They'll probably reach out to you tomorrow or Monday, If not, contact your admissions counselor.

I attended a Q&A session for USUHS today, they said all interviewees are invited to fly out and visit each month. They'll be having these visits until ~ February, so you can wait until you hear back before committing to a visit.

I was really hoping to schedule the interview on Monday so RIP that I guess

How do we update our application post interview? We added an important extracurricular, for example......

I was told to send updates to our admissions counselor and they can attach it to you application
As my admissions counselor put it, they're able to upload changes to our application three times. Personally, I had planned to send up my grades for the semester and possibly an additional LOR. But if three's the limit, I'd rather have it and not need it as much as possible. Although what my counselor and yours are referring to could be different, whether an attachment or a full-change are two different things or not, so it'd be good to clarify.

Do you happen to know if it was something, I guess, "special?" I don't know how to put it. I live within driving distance and scheduled a visit with my counselor, got a tour but not much else. I guess what I'm asking is if they said it'd be something more substantial than a tour. Q&A, meet some people, something a little more immersive.

Hi there! Interviewing this upcoming week. Have one scheduled wednesday, but the second interviewer has not reached out yet. Should I wait, or email admissions?

I had one interviewer contact me the Monday of my interview week.

Also, it says on the USU interview webpage to contact your Admissions Counselor if you haven’t heard from an interviewer by Thursday of your interview week. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that, but probably best not to contact them before unless it is really urgent!

They didn't provide us with details about the visit. I was told I would get a detailed email about visiting the campus about a month after my interview. They did say that it would be a great opportunity to meet people that may end up in the USUHS class of 2026, so I imagine they'll have something planned.

Cool. I'll have to keep an eye out for that notification. Of course the interview has to happen first. That little thing.
For now, short-term concerns.

For anyone with concerns on the DoDMERB process and medical concerns, of the qualifying "before you go to this medical school variety," here's a link to medical standards.

Personally, I should know better, but I was a little too honest on my DoDMETS questionnaire. I've never had or needed surgery, never had a profile or loss of a range of motion. But after a few years of wear and tear, my back and shoulders started to complain a little louder, so I complained. You can only throw so much "infantry" at a problem.

Lots more stretching and foam-rolling, been fine ever since. As it ended up on my record I figured I'd say it upfront even if it seemed minor, I'd rather have a lesser headache than get caught in a lie of omission.

Has anyone gone through DoDMERB yet or can perhaps shed some light on it? I know a DQ isn't a death sentence and waivers are possible, but it's one more headache I'd rather not have. Especially when nothing's kept me from regular PT.

Yeah I was a little too honest as well. I pulled a muscle in my lower back when I played football in high school and it took a bit of time to heal because I never let it rest. Never needed any real medical intervention aside from the doctor telling me "hey take a break and take some Aleve".

The doctor saw that I answered "yes" to prior back injuries and basically asked me if it's still bothering me. A few days alter, DoDMERB sent me a correspondence regarding my injury. I just had to fill out a questionnaire which asked things like "When did your back hurt/does it still hurt?" and "How do you know that this injury won't impact your ability to serve?" Sent it in and I was never asked anything again (I didn't need to go through the waiver process).

I also had (asymptomatic) high blood pressure when I was younger but this is no longer the case. They wanted proof of my improved blood pressure (which I couldn't provide because my records are lost) so I had to get a waiver. It wasn't too complicated since the DoDMERB physical showed that my blood pressure was normal and I sent a signed statement about how my blood pressure never affected me in my previous or current athletic endeavors. After about 4 weeks, they sent me an email saying "Ok here's your waiver you're all set."

That was my experience. I hope that it helps.

I went through with a couple of injuries that I declared (infantry too lol), nothing that still bothers me though. When I had been through previously for my initial contract they asked for doctor's records and everything, this time they just made sure my functionality was fine, and I was medically qualified the next week. However, I'm guessing it will depend on the extent of your injuries, mine were mostly acute that could be fixed without surgery and just a cast or something, I don't have anything chronic going on from them. If its not keeping you from PT I would guess you'll be fine, but I'm not a doctor (yet :/)

Yeah I have a tendency to overthink stuff. That does help tremendously, thank you.
Looking back on it I feel like an idiot, but then I've also been on the wrong-end of a clerk too angry to see past check boxes.

Does anyone know when we have to pass the physical test (2 mi run, situps/pushups)?

Also, how do we upload our security info onto DoD without a code? Should I email for a code if I haven't head back?

When should we schedule the physical test, I know it says given them 7 business days to process the application, but were anyone able to schedule it sooner?

The physical fitness test you have to pass in officer school, the physical you schedule in 7 days is a medical exam. You can not schedule it sooner because USU has to create the account for you.

I finally got my interviews scheduled btw. Kind of unnerving to schedule your interview for the very next day, but at least it worked out
Haha yeah, my interviewers contacted me on Friday and Monday. Luckily, I was able to schedule them both for today (Tuesday). Good luck!

Congrats! Yeah, that "turn your life on a dime" thing can get difficult but just think of it like your first step into military life. It can be tough but it also makes a great excuse to get out of things. I can't tell you how many times I've been on the giving and receiving end of an angry phone call asking where I was. Although I imagine your contacts weren't as profane, or angry.

Anyone know what the chances of getting an interview here are if my application is "being held" for reconsideration?

ugh i'm being held up on getting a decision by stupid paperwork, give me a good 42A and I could conquer the world
Yeah, even with a good 42A, you're forgetting that S1 is only open on Tuesdays from 1400-1430, afternoons on every 3rd Wednesday, and for a full day during the autumnal equinox, when Saturn converges with the blood moon and the dark one temporarily holds sway in the mortal realm. It's one of the only times of year that they catch up on paperwork, and it's really the best time to knock out your personnel record review, as well.

Has anyone who interviewed heard anything today? In past years people who interviewed early heard back on the 15th, but it’s been silence so far…

It looks like some people got in earlier in the thread!

I interviewed the first week of Sep and haven't heard anything today.

Haha, wow no idea how I missed that, thanks! Well, I’ve got silence so that’s probably not the best sign… It is what is is.

Waitlist over here 🙁

Can't believe they have already given out all the seats and it's only day one of acceptances!

lol show me a good 42A and I'll show you a unicorn worth their weight in platinum.
Congratulations to everyone who's gotten in so far. I hope to join you soon.

DODMERB medical waiver email sent to me today... so this means if I get an A then they start the medical waiver process?

Days to a couple weeks if your medical and security are good to go.
I play a lot of rec basketball--it wouldn't be impossible for me to blow a ligament over the next semester and a half of IM. Should I keep another acceptance in pocket until the last second to prevent a situation like this?

Edit: I'll ask commissioning coordinator this question, no worries.

You’re trying to become a military officer, and part of that is making sure you’re medically ready. You can play basketball, but you need to be careful not to get hurt. That will be your whole career. If you’re not deployable because you destroy your body, you won’t be very useful.

They started the process for me when I emailed my "statement". Commissioning coordinator emailed me directions for it.
Did the coordinator email you after your status changed in DODMERB or before?

How long after you completed your medical exam were you able to start the waiver process?

Very true. I appreciate your response. The opportunity of serving through USUHS path definitely outweighs a little ball.

I think this is a good consideration for everyone though: figuring out at what point you’re guaranteed a spot regardless of physical accidents/ illnesses so that you can decline other places to open up a seat for someone else.
