I interviewed the week of Jan 24th. obviously still waiting on a decision. Navy > AF > Army. Are y'all telling me the class is already full? How would we know that? And isn't it possible that just a particular branch is running low on slots? I'm anxiously refreshing my email and sdn every hour so I'm just trying to ease my nerves a bit lol

I interviewed the week of 12/6. If these guys are just hearing back, I’d expect a much longer wait. I Even if the class is already full, when the choose your medical school tool opens up, there will be movement. Just keep your head up!

USU fills their class early because the strict budget prevents them from "playing" with the class size. They can only accept as many students as the budget allows (generally around 165-175 students) so unless you apply super early, you'll likely end up on the wait list.

When April rolls around, people will start committing to other schools, disqualify medically, or just withdraw their A for other reasons. That's when the WL starts moving.

If I recall correctly, USU hands out about 275 acceptances every cycle. Approxomately 100 students out of an incoming class of 175 will end up coming from the waitlist.

I also interviewed that week. Army > AF > Navy. I am also anxiously refreshing my email and SDN lol. Best of luck to you!

WL yesterday. Interviewed Nov. 8th. I've talked with the Dean of Admissions before about waitlist status. He told me that WL is essentially a delayed acceptance. Virtually all WL's will be offered acceptances later on once accepted applicants start committing elsewhere. Additionally, if you are not medically cleared, they will hold you on WL then accept you upon medical clearance confirmation. Lastly, some acceptance spots are reserved for late round interviews in case an applicant blows the committee away. Once they get through interviews, I am sure that more spots will open. Congrats to those accepted or WL recently.

To anyone who has received a medical waiver- how long did it take for you to be granted the waiver after you send in your request and your documents? I submitted mine about a month ago, and I saw something that said it would take 6ish weeks. Is this timeframe accurate or did it take you longer/shorter than 6 weeks to hear back?

Generally 6-8 weeks. Mine took about 8 because my PCP went MIA.

For those of you who have gone to the post-interview visit day, could you please provide a bit more information about the schedule? And is it mostly indoors or plenty of outdoor walking? I was wondering how I (female) should come dressed - is a coat over dress pants and a blouse ok?

Thanks in advance for your insight!!

The day lasted from 8am-2pm. The tour was mostly indoors when I went. The dress code is business professional so that outfit should be fine.

For anyone who has gone to a previous in-person visit, how long did the dinner/drinks the night beforehand last? I won't make it to Bethesda until after 8 pm and wasn't sure if it is acceptable to go late or if I shouldn't go at all.

It lasts from 7-10pm. I came late at 9pm and it was fine

Are they doing anymore in-person visits this cycle? And is that only for accepted students?
From my understanding there are post-
Interview in-person visits and Second Look visits that happen after you’re accepted! Anyone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong tho!

The last scheduled in-person visits is on 2/24 (as mentioned in an earlier reply). I do believe all accepted students (or at least those who commit) are offered a second look but I'm not entirely sure.

anyone else who interviewed week of 11/15 still waiting to hear back?? coming on 14 weeks of pure silence :O

Me! I’m visiting this week and worried that they are just waiting until after my visit to reject me 😂. But if other people haven’t heard back maybe there’s no need to be so cynical.

I interviewed week of 11/1. I and others who had interviewed a week after me had only just gotten word last week. That put me around week 15.
Contacting your counselor will probably end to the effect of "your application is still being considered by the admissions committee." Best suggestion I can offer is make sure you're cleared on medical and security, see if you need to send in any documentation, clarify or update anything, make sure all the paperwork is in.
While the medical corps is a strange animal in the military, it's still the military, and the military loves paperwork. The military also loves "hurry up and wait." It's not a fun game, and sometimes you get a lot of sleep, but in the end that's all you can really do.

Hi everyone, first time posting here. I interviewed the week of 11/8 and got the acceptance call last week for Navy! I am beyond thrilled as this is my top choice for schools and I thought that by now there would be no more spots left. So there is still hope for those of you who are still waiting on an answer! Good luck to you all!

For those who attended an in person visit, what was the dress code for the student dinner the night before? Might be coming straight from the airport.

Anywhere in the range from casual to business casual. I wouldn't worry about dress code much, it was a very chill and friendly encounter with some of the students.

WL email this morning. Interviewed mid-November and ranked Army > AF > Navy. I have been stalking this thread & ones from previous years so for those curious stats are 3.9/513 and I was complete in August. This is definitely my top choice so I am really hoping for WL movement soon! Best of luck to all those waiting for good news.

Waitlisted today for an October interview, but I had some paperwork issues that were holding up my decision until now. Ranked Army >>> AF > Navy

Has anyone here gotten a medical waiver after submitting an appeal? I’m in that process right now.

I did, but for something very minor that I didn't expect to need a waiver for. It took a couple of weeks to get back, it's not the paperwork problem that delayed my decision

How long did it take you guys to hear back about medical clearance after you completed all your DODMERB exams?

It’s been 4 weeks since I finished everything and still haven’t heard anything, though I do have previous military records that could be making the process take longer.

Yes, I did. It came 4 weeks after submitting the waiver request.

My initial response from DoDMERB took 2 weeks, but the follow on response after submitting their requested AMI took 11 weeks. This was through the holidays so that may have been extenuating circumstances.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get a medical waiver for my history on migraines which is disappointing because USU was my top school . I did get acceptance elsewhere so I’ll look into the HPSP scholarship. I wish everyone success in this cycle!

According to Dr. Liotta, the ADCOM still has a couple hundred applications to process, so don't take it personally.
I was coming up on the end of my 15th week when I got my decision so I'm sure yours is on the way.
It seems that some individuals hear back sooner than others. For example, some 15 weeks and others 12. Is the reason for this simply because of the difference in admissions counselors?

I got the email that I was medically cleared but I am not sure who to contact or where to check my security clearance if at all. I heard that this can be a reason why decisions get delayed as well. Let me know if there is anything I can do from that stand point.

I am in the exact same boat. I tried emailing the contact who had sent over some DoDsafe forms but I haven't heard anything. I wish there was a portal like for Dodmerb where I could check my status and see if I am missing any paperwork.

Common response on this thread re: security clearance has been no news is good news. If you haven't heard anything then it most likely went through without any problems.

I put my preference of Navy>AF>Army but to be honest I am a civilian and I don't have any major preferences over where I go. I really want to get into this school but I am also quite young (no gap years, I am still a senior) and I am worried that putting Navy as my first preference will hurt my chances of getting in since everyone that gets in seems to go to the army. Does anyone know about the demand to attend USUHS as a member of the navy or if the spaces are filled will they consider you for other branches or just opt to place you on a WL or AL

In terms of demand, it's historically been Navy>AF>Army but it could vary from cycle to cycle (meaning Navy normally fills up first).

I'm not 100% sure about the second part of your question but I know that the admissions committee tries its best to match students into their desired branches. There have been some waitlisted individuals who get the call but are offered a spot that is different from their top pick, but this is rare.

Can we change preference prior to our decision or is that looked down upon? Feel like I shot myself in the foot lol

Yeah, you can email your admissions counselor but I don't know if changing your branch preference will help/hurt you in any way.

I've read in previous admission cycles of people getting offered spots from the wait list "outside" their top pick. This would indicate that the preference is mainly a tool for initial round assignment. If coming from the WL we are likely ranked and offered slots as they come available regardless of the preference.

Anyone here also working the HPSP route? My recruiter called today to let me know that they need a final answer by May. Does that sound about right? So waitlist movement during March/April or you have to jump ship? I got into my #2, so definitely not the end of the world, but trying to see how long I can be patient before I need to make some solid decisions.

How long after receiving your waiver did you hear back regarding an admissions decision? Were you waitlisted prior to receiving your waiver?

I was waitlisted on 3/25 and received my waiver approval on 4/26 last cycle.
