I got the R today. OOS and Complete on August 6.
Did you reach the terminal stage of review, or did they reject when you were on sub-committee or committee?I got the R today. OOS and Complete on August 6.
Will it be October 18th since the 16th is on a weekendOctober 15th is rolling around soon... I'm really anxious, here's to everyone who already interviewed getting an acceptance next Friday!!!
They can release on the 15th. I interviewed at FAU and they said that they would release decisions on the 15th. I don't see why VCU couldn't release some decisions on that date. Will it be October 18th since the 16th is on a weekend
Ah okay. They can release on the 15th. I interviewed at FAU and they said that they would release decisions on the 15th. I don't see why VCU couldn't release some decisions on that date.
You can get a flat-out rejection any time post-interview, but an A cannot come until October 15th, so I wouldn't worry!Ah okay.
Haven’t even been placed on hold for an acceptance yet 🙁 so not getting my hopes up.
Does anybody know if they will put a rejection in your portal post interview?
Not specific to this school but I’ve heard that Oct 15 is a guideline and not a rule. A few schools begin to release acceptances prior to that (though not many). You can get a flat-out rejection any time post-interview, but an A cannot come until October 15th, so I wouldn't worry!
I'm pretty sure Oct 15 is a rule, at least for all MD schools. They can't give out offers of admission until that day, but they can definitely reject you.Not specific to this school but I’ve heard that Oct 15 is a guideline and not a rule. NYU has already accepted some peopleI'm pretty sure Oct 15 is a rule, at least for all MD schools. They can't give out offers of admission until that day, but they can definitely reject you.

Those are recommendations from the AAMC. NYU has given acceptance already, but that's the only one I know of.I'm pretty sure Oct 15 is a rule, at least for all MD schools. They can't give out offers of admission until that day, but they can definitely reject you.

Ohhh thanks, did not know NYU already gave out acceptances?? WowNah it’s just a traffic guideline afaik. Most schools choose to follow it, but not all do
I don’t think I ever got passed sub-committee.Did you reach the terminal stage of review, or did they reject when you were on sub-committee or committee?
i also thought it would be october 18th bc the portal update says the 16th unless the 16th falls on a weekend, then itll be the monday afterWill it be October 18th since the 16th is on a weekend
Aw that would suck. Each day feels like an eternity in this process 😕i also thought it would be october 18th bc the portal update says the 16th unless the 16th falls on a weekend, then itll be the monday after

Just recently had my interview with VCU and they said they would be releasing on the 18th since 16th is the weekend!i also thought it would be october 18th bc the portal update says the 16th unless the 16th falls on a weekend, then itll be the monday after
When did you interview?Just got put on hold does that mean I'm on a waitlist or is it just standard procedure?
9/30When did you interview?
I got an email that there was a portal update, similar to all the other previous updates. Was it via email? Didn’t get it but didn’t get an R either.
Yes it’s a very good place to be in. You can either get held or rejected before the first decision date.Is getting put on hold standard because its before october 15th?
So if you got a hold notification, is it still possible to be accepted on the 16th (or 18th)?Yes it’s a very good place to be in. You can either get held or rejected before the first decision date.
I’m not sure if they give hard post II rejections or just never put people on hold.
It is the only way to be accepted haha. Pretty sure everybody who is accepted gets a hold before (maybe not ppl who interview a week before decision date but that’s it).So if you got a hold notification, is it still possible to be accepted on the 16th (or 18th)?
I would try not to worry too much! I have heard that people have received notifications at different times, so this is not a bad sign necessarily. I do not know whether they send out rejections, but it seemed like based on their wording at the end of the interview, they doIt is the only way to be accepted haha. Pretty sure everybody who is accepted gets a hold before (maybe not ppl who interview a week before decision date but that’s it).
It’s weird because I think I interviewed very good but I guess not xD
Anybody from weeks of 7th or 13th also not have a hold. Anybody get a hard R. Sorry for neurotic.
Post II R get sent out the same time as Holds. They don’t keep you waiting.Congrats for the people who got holds
@Talldoctor96 do you know if they give hard rejections after interviews (before the season is over) or just keep the status as “you finished your interview on xxxx. The committee will do a review.”
Thanks!
Everyone is either put on hold or rejected post II before the decision date. Decisions are released 4 times in October December, February and March. Is getting put on hold standard because its before october 15th?
They do give that hard R but frankly I think it’s somewhat rare - most people get put on hold.Yes it’s a very good place to be in. You can either get held or rejected before the first decision date.

I know it’s a bit early to get this party started and sorry to spam.Just recently had my interview with VCU and they said they would be releasing on the 18th since 16th is the weekend!
Some of us complete in July only just recently (this week) moved on to subcommittee.Complete 8/16, still on 'member of the committee'... Is this a soft R?
I have no clue, but on my interview day they said they meet on the monday after your interview to discuss your file/do your ranking etc., so it just depends on if they do that first then send out acceptances or the other way around. If we interview this week, will we hear back on Monday? I interview on Thursday
Thanks for the reply! I guess I'll just have to wait and see.I have no clue, but on my interview day they said they meet on the monday after your interview to discuss your file/do your ranking etc., so it just depends on if they do that first then send out acceptances or the other way around.
Yup. And good luck on your interview, they do a really good job making it fun! Thanks for the reply! I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
+1Bummer about waiting a bit longer, but best thing to do is just try not to focus on the minutiae. I interviewed 9/14 and no hold, will just have fingers crossed and be hopeful!
You as well. Ive had a few but thought this was actually my best one. Don’t think it bodes well for the othersI hear that - I went there for a graduate program so am hoping that'll pull some weight. If its a no go then major bummer, but i'm sure there are other people in the same boat.
Aside from that, hoping you've been blessed with some other II's.
I wouldn't stress too much about the hold notification, I waited over a month for that notification but inevitably I did receive it. Just hold on tight and you should hopefully get it soon.+1
Just praying it’s not a rejection at this point but I’m losing hope since people who interviewed on later dates were already reviewed and put on hold.
Sounded like they went chronological based on interview date 🙁
lol if it makes you feel better I interviewed on the week of the 20th and haven't seen any movement on my portal either- I'm an IS applicant (LM 78) and thought the interview went okay so not sure what to make of this but it is what it is I guessIt is the only way to be accepted haha. Pretty sure everybody who is accepted gets a hold before (maybe not ppl who interview a week before decision date but that’s it).
