They can release on the 15th. I interviewed at FAU and they said that they would release decisions on the 15th. I don't see why VCU couldn't release some decisions on that date.

Haven’t even been placed on hold for an acceptance yet 🙁 so not getting my hopes up.

You can get a flat-out rejection any time post-interview, but an A cannot come until October 15th, so I wouldn't worry!

Not specific to this school but I’ve heard that Oct 15 is a guideline and not a rule. A few schools begin to release acceptances prior to that (though not many).

I'm pretty sure Oct 15 is a rule, at least for all MD schools. They can't give out offers of admission until that day, but they can definitely reject you.

Nah it’s just a traffic guideline afaik. Most schools choose to follow it, but not all do

Those are recommendations from the AAMC. NYU has given acceptance already, but that's the only one I know of.

Just recently had my interview with VCU and they said they would be releasing on the 18th since 16th is the weekend!

@Talldoctor96 do you know if they give hard rejections after interviews (before the season is over) or just keep the status as “you finished your interview on xxxx. The committee will do a review.”

Yes it’s a very good place to be in. You can either get held or rejected before the first decision date.

I’m not sure if they give hard post II rejections or just never put people on hold.

It is the only way to be accepted haha. Pretty sure everybody who is accepted gets a hold before (maybe not ppl who interview a week before decision date but that’s it).

Anybody from weeks of 7th or 13th also not have a hold. Anybody get a hard R. Sorry for neurotic.

I would try not to worry too much! I have heard that people have received notifications at different times, so this is not a bad sign necessarily. I do not know whether they send out rejections, but it seemed like based on their wording at the end of the interview, they do

Post II R get sent out the same time as Holds. They don’t keep you waiting.

Everyone is either put on hold or rejected post II before the decision date. Decisions are released 4 times in October December, February and March.

They do give that hard R but frankly I think it’s somewhat rare - most people get put on hold.

Just recently had my interview with VCU and they said they would be releasing on the 18th since 16th is the weekend!

I know it’s a bit early to get this party started and sorry to spam.

But basically the way it works is that they always wait until the Monday after the posted date- because on that Monday they’ll vote on the last batch- they try to include everyone that has interviewed before the 10/18 date.

On 10/18 decisions are officially released at 6:05 pm eastern. The portal updates at 6:05. However, there is a phenomena called “tabs” where historically they enter everyone into the system around 1 pm Ish (it varies) and those people have an extra tab pop up on their portal. All tabs come at the same time - and if you get the weird extra tab or any weird stuff on your portal- that’s a guaranteed acceptance.

Bummer about waiting a bit longer, but best thing to do is just try not to focus on the minutiae. I interviewed 9/14 and no hold, will just have fingers crossed and be hopeful!

I have no clue, but on my interview day they said they meet on the monday after your interview to discuss your file/do your ranking etc., so it just depends on if they do that first then send out acceptances or the other way around.

I hear that - I went there for a graduate program so am hoping that'll pull some weight. If its a no go then major bummer, but i'm sure there are other people in the same boat.

I wouldn't stress too much about the hold notification, I waited over a month for that notification but inevitably I did receive it. Just hold on tight and you should hopefully get it soon.

lol if it makes you feel better I interviewed on the week of the 20th and haven't seen any movement on my portal either- I'm an IS applicant (LM 78) and thought the interview went okay so not sure what to make of this but it is what it is I guess
