What is the rule for VCU with update letters post Interview? I have see conflicting information on here vs on the VCU website. It seems like they say they will not really take any update letter into account, but is that just pre interview?

I was told they take post-II update letters into account when you're being considered (time after the interview when you could be accepted), but not after that (ex. once you're on a waitlist for example).

Would someone mind giving a short run down of this tabs business? And the committee meeting dates? I interview this week and need to know where to file my neuroticism post interview

First off, congrats on the interview and all the best!

The committee usually meets the week following your interview to discuss your file and score your application - this will allow them to rank you.

You won't hear from the school (some just get a portal update saying that they have completed their interview) regarding a decision until the next offer date which is February 1st. On the offer dates, legend has it that if you are accepted, you will see additional tabs appear on your portal. You will then receive your official acceptance portal update/e-mail the following day (or same evening).

Hopefully that will help file your neuroticism post interview 😉. Jokes aside, all the best!

[Someone correct me if I'm wrong]

Is there a list of decision dates?

For anyone who had an afternoon interview, how long does it take? It says to log in at 10:30 am but what time should I expect it to end?
What did your day end up looking like, when did it end? I've been skimming the thread to find if I need to take the entire day off of work

I think there's an afternoon session and a morning session. The morning session does the MMI in the morning and finishes up with info sessions/student panels and the afternoon session finishes with the MMI. I think at the very least, the interview day will take about 4-5 hours

I just got tabs!!!...I checked my page when people first started mentioning having tabs, and I didn't have anything...and my heart sank a bit, but then I didn't give up all hope because I remembered some people on Oct 16th reported getting tabs later than some of the first people. I was driving home, so didn't chek again until just about 15 minutes ago when I got home and I had tabs this time!!! I can't believe it!! This is my first MD acceptance if the tabs mean what everyone says!
following your thread and CONGRATULATIONS!!!! that is amazing!! I've just been marked complete and keeping fingers crossed for an interview VCU has always been a dream!!

Just now got moved to "your file review is complete. If you are granted an interview you will receive a status update on your portal...". Does anyone know if this is going to be a similar wait to sub-committee (was on that for 2+ months).

For those who received interviews, how long was it until they sent the interview invitation after your file review was complete?
My file review was complete recently, complete mid August. Thank you!

Does this school reject applicants post interview ? or they just gave a score to applicants and nobody will get rejected till mid March?
I was wondering if somebody could answer this question.

Hadn't checked in a good while, but I just saw where I moved to the file review complete status since being under subcommittee since God knows when. Lol.

Yes if you fail the interview they reject you. In march, with the formulation of the waitlist, the pool of "on hold for acceptance" will get cut and more rejections will be given then.

For those that have yet to interview: relax! My interview felt as if the MMI stations were one part answering the MMI thoughtfully and the other part wanting to move on quickly in order to getting to know me better in the limited time we had. Genuinely great people and great experience.

For those who submitted their background checks, did they come back yet? I'm on my fifth business day so was just wondering if this is normal.

If I interviewed last week, when is the earliest I can send a letter of intent? Also, I did not write a thank you letter to my traditional interviewer. Would it be worthwhile to send a thank you letter to the admissions committee?

I remember from my interview that they said if you had updates/LOIs the committee meets the Monday the week after your interview to discuss your application so you should send it before then so they have time to include it in your file

To those who interviewed in the AM: around what time were you finished? I have a class on the afternoon of my interview day so I wanted to let my prof know if I'd be late.

When will they send out the zoom link? Interviewing tomorrow (1/25/22) and still haven't received it

Interviewed back in September and have since been placed on hold. One of the PIs I currently work with did his residency at VCU and I'm considering asking him to send a letter at this point in the cycle. Anyone know if this would help (or possibly harm lol) my chances of getting an A?

Anyone still waiting to enter the Information Session on Zoom?

Edit: Nvm, we got it!

Are we supposed to send updates after our interviews? Are thank-you letters allowed? I just interviewed yesterday but I can't find any definitive info. Also, I heard during the information session that were could send updates but the website says to not...

Sorry if someone already answered this

At this point, a letter won't change anything. AT VCU you have a final score, and that isn't going to change. They go down in order of final score.

Its not really going to change anything. So Its up to you.

Thank you yes I would send them at every interview.

To follow up on this, I thought the general consensus after MMI interviews was not to send thank you letters (unless addressed to the general admissions office)? I also emailed admissions about this and they never responded so I let it end there. Really wanted to thank my interviewers but it’s weeks out at this point

Just received notification stating:
"Your File Review is now complete. If you are granted an interview, you will receive a status update on your applicant portal. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates."
Don't know if I should feel good or bad about this... does this mean I have passed the metrics to not get an immediate R? Should I look out for an II soon, or is this something that everyone gets?

mean what’s wrong with sending a thank you the admissions office? Doesn’t matter if you get a reply back
