Technically it’s closed file, but it’s an MMI so they’re not asking you questions about your app unless it’s relevant to the scenario being presentedCan anyone who has already interviewed tell me if the interviews were open or closed file?

It means you have not been prioritized. What does it mean if we are still in subcommittee?
I was told on interview day that it’s spaced so you never have two exams in one week and you often have just one exam for every two weeks.Does anyone know what the exam schedule is like for VCU? Are they once every couple of weeks? Also does anyone know about how many hours of mandatory classes and meetings there are during a week here?
Current M1! We have a block schedule, so our exams are every 2-2.5 weeks. Its really great to only have to focus on one class/topic at one time!Does anyone know what the exam schedule is like for VCU? Are they once every couple of weeks? I sent an update after my interviews, and I sent thank you letters as well! Last year, they were out of the office due to Covid so an email was sufficient. Are we supposed to send updates after our interviews? Are thank-you letters allowed? I just interviewed yesterday but I can't find any definitive info. Also, I heard during the information session that were could send updates but the website says to not...
Sorry if someone already answered this
Thanks for this! Who did you send your thank you to?I sent an update after my interviews, and I sent thank you letters as well! Last year, they were out of the office due to Covid so an email was sufficient.
I sent it to my specific interviewers and the main admissions person for my intro session! I emailed and asked for their full names, so I could make sure they were addressed by their proper titles. Thanks for this! Who did you send your thank you to?
I sent one as well but was not as thorough 😅 I just sent it to the somune@vcuhealth email cuz that's the main admissions email but if possible, do them individually for sureI sent it to my specific interviewers and the main admissions person for my intro session! Well you’re gonna hear something soon cause interviews only go for like 2 more weeksYesterday my portal became this:
Your File Review is now complete. If you are granted an interview, you will receive a status update on your applicant portal. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates.
Should I expect to hear back SOMETHING sometime soon? Or can people be stuck at this exact message for months?
There’s some great living advice in last 2 years threads if u like to scrollI am not too familiar with the Richmond area. Any locals or current students have any suggestions for housing?
Where did you find the info for the post-II acceptance?Anyone know how much VCU values their interview? I got one for next week, and it's so late I'm feeling a bit dejected, especially because my stats are below their medians and it's very late into the cycle. I'm hoping to maybe wow them with the interview, but I saw that they have a low post-II acceptance rate. Do they not value the interview that highly?
Their MSAR numbers indicate that 25-26% of those interviewed matriculate; that doesn't seem like a low percentage to me.Where did you find the info for the post-II acceptance?
According to the 2021 data, their post II acceptance rate is above 50% which is actually high relative to other schools. As wysdoc said, you can also see this in MSAR's matriculant data.Anyone know how much VCU values their interview? There is a trusted spreadsheet here. If you are just looking for number matriculated vs. number interviewed that can be found on MSAR.Where did you find the info for the post-II acceptance?

Well according to @TheDataKing's 2021 data here it looks like its 60% for OOS students which is pretty good!Their MSAR numbers indicate that 25-26% of those interviewed matriculate; that doesn't seem like a low percentage to me.
Honestly 46% is not bad even for in-state students. Consider that many medical schools have between a 20-39% post-II acceptance. Also keep in mind these are objective numbers which don't reflect an extremely subjective process. You may have a 90%-100% chance of getting in somewhere with a fair interview because you are what that particular school is looking for in a prospective student. As @Goro and many others say here at the point of the interview it is your acceptance to lose. Leave the hesitation at the door as how they will potentially be using your interview performance vs. stats is out of your hands. Focus that energy on nailing the interview since you're in a spot many applicants with no interviews covet. Good luck friend! I had a great interview experience at VCU and I'm listening to my own advice and hoping to report back with good news March 1st myself.I'm in-state so I'm looking at the 46% acceptance post interview which I just assumed was not that high, especially since there are a ton of "green" cells on that page with rates in the 70% +, even other virginia schools like UVA.
Do you know how much weight VCU puts in their interview by chance?
I think it's for admitted studentsI did not, what’s that?
My bad!I’m admitted!
Thats so exciting, congrats! What are your stats?Just got an II! Ya'll what
I just got one as well! My portal isn't updated either and I'm assuming they'll update everything once we get an email response confirming everything? Good luck to you!Just got an II through email, but my portal is still at the "File Review is now complete" stage. I am so, so hopeful that this is legit but would be absolutely devastated if this was just a phishing email. Also, the interview is scheduled for March 1st in the morning. Would I just be interviewing for a WL position at this point?
Same. Nothing on the portal, but I did get the email. I say we sleep through the night and check again tomorrow. I got my II after normal working hours so homies probably just wanted to go home after emailing us.I just got one as well! Congrats! I got it as an update notification through the portal. I'm assuming they're just directly emailing for their last set of interviews?Same. Nothing on the portal, but I did get the email. My trivial question - did earlier interviewees get an email when they got their II's or did they just get it through the portal?
Anyone else get an invitation to the SNMA/ LMSA Weekend and are planning to attend??
I think it's for admitted students
I think it’s for admitted URMI’m admitted!
I got my II through an email with the date and time and after I confirmed, the response email was that my portal would be updated in 24 hours. So don’t worry, it’s real! Congrats!Same. Close file and no actors. You just get presented with a scenario and respond. What’s the MMI like here? Are they like when they interviewer is an actor and we act it all out, or do they simply present the scenario and you respond what you would do?
And during the beginning where it’s like a “traditional” interview, is it open or close file?
No signs to tell you that you’re in but being put on hold for possible acceptance is obviously better than being waitlisted or rejected at that initial voting.Interview on 2/2, are there any early signs I should look for that shows I'm in other than tabs? I know decisions are 3/1
sorry- hate being that guy. But no one is waitlisted at the meeting. You are either rejected for put on hold. Many people with the hold for acceptance will end up on waitlist. And some will be rejected when the waitlist is formed. No signs to tell you that you’re in but being put on hold for possible acceptance is obviously better than being waitlisted or rejected at that initial voting.
NopeI got a II here last week! Does that mean we're basically interviewing for the waitlist?
+1II yesterday, IS, LM 68
