2022-2023 Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine (Provo, UT) Noorda-COM

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
3rd year rotations are fine and locations are set by the school. They have their contracts and a schedule set for us to begin next year. 4th year will require more work on our part as far as I know. It might be less work if you do things within the systems they have contracts with.
I think that’s all my concerns answered haha, ty!!

In your opinion would you say you need a car for the Provo area? Living off campus is it difficult to get to campus via public transportation?
Definitely need a car. Provo doesn’t really have a public transit system so it would make your day to day pretty difficult.

What's the typical dress code? Do students usually wear scrubs or is it business professional?

Letter grades. You can find the breakdowns on the catalogue on their website
okay that is what i thought they said during the interview the catalog states it is a P/F/H system. see picture below

People where pretty much whatever they want unless it’s an OMM lab/Clinical Lab/Anatomy Lab or other activity that requires different clothes for the day.

Hey I live in the SLC area and have been commuting to the Lehi/Provo area for work since starting my post-bacc.

For anyone considering living in SLC over Provo, I drive like a maniac on I-215 but I can usually make it to Provo in about 40/45 minutes one way, 30 if I’m in a rush and really pushing it and have my radar detector turned on. I’m from a very large metropolitan area so a 40 minute commute each way is almost a dream come true. Only thing that would be better is if Noorda was in Sandy or something.

More than happy to carpool if people are considering living in salt lake. I promise I’ll drive slower with more people in the car hahah

You also have TRAX front runner if you prefer the public transport route

Does anyone know what the new buildings address is or how far is it from the current building?

Per Noorda-COM's website "Estimated at $57 million, the four-story, 140,000-sqare-foot academic building is situated on a 30-acre campus located off I-15 and Lakeview Parkway in South Provo. The building is expected to open in Summer 2023."

interviewing this week. any last minute tips?
Seriously just be yourself and relax! Do some general prep work like practice interview Q's and make sure you understand your path to medicine. My interviewer made the experience much more relaxing and conversational than I expected and I hear much the same from other interviewees.

Hi all,
I have my interview for Noorda on Nov 1st. Man am I excited and also scared. Has anyone been through the interview process? If so how was it and any tips? Also, do yall know how soon they get back to you after the interviews?

Live in Washington state and got an A, don't think they have a strong regional preference
from the information they provided, they don't care about the region you come from, the region you want to practice, or the specialty you would like to practice. One of the reasons why I applied here.

I have and have been accepted, truly be yourself and just do basic prep, heard back in 1.5 weeks

Can someone explain to me how the grading system works?? There’s a letter grade, 2 digit score and three digit score ???

Good luck to anyone interviewing tomorrow. I'm so excited! Woo hoo!
I had such a great impression from everyone today. I was already in love with this school, but after the interview, my love is only stronger! I hope you felt the same way! Hopefully, we'll have the A coming our way:biglove:

To those of you who already interviewed, did you send individual thank you emails to the admissions email?

I feel the same way. Its a great fit for me and I love the culture of the school.

For anyone who is non-traditional, especially if you are married and/or have kids, you should definitely consider NoordaCOM.

The 2 digit score is your percentile against all DO students based on your grades. The 3 digit score is a prediction of your COMLEX Level 1 score based on your grades.

So an 87% in the course would correspond to a B+ so you’d fall in the 85th percentile of all DO students and predicted to get around a 626 on COMLEX Level 1.

I loved my interview day! Just prepare for the typical interview questions and most importantly-- be yourself!

adding onto this q, do ppl go out to drink? Are there places to drink
There are some bars on Center Street in Provo, but some people go to Salt Lake City if they go out drinking. Restaurants around here serve alcohol as well and there are state liquor stores in Provo and the surrounding areas too.

Hey yall, I was wondering if any students have any information about how mormon the school is? I mean provo is super mormon but is the city non-mormon friendly?
The school isn’t affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons, but they prefer the full name or LDS), but there are members of this church in the class. I think my class is like 40% LDS, but I don’t know about percentage in the 2nd class. The high percentage is probably due to the school being in Utah and a lot of students from Utah applied to the school.

Are there any non-Mormon friendly aspects you’re specifically wondering about? There’s lots of coffee shops and other places of worship and places to drink alcohol.

Are the major ones such as Starbucks present within a close distance?

There’s a Starbucks less than a mile away from the school. I’m sure it’s nothing like Seattle, but there are coffee shops

Not inside the new building. They are planning on building housing and daycare options as well, but I am unknown on the timeline. I believe it will be after the new building is finished. As mentioned above they said they are confident it will be done sometime in the spring 2023 and ready for next years class! I am also a current student, congrats to everyone that was accepted. You will love it here at Noorda!
And they'll all love having you teach them your Bridges to Medicine! 🤣
