I received an interview invite a couple days ago. But when i try to schedule an interview (which are all in March) it says i can only select the option for session 1, which is in person. & I’d like to do a virtual interview. What should I do?

I would say to email them, it said that for me as well when I got an interview invite in October, and it only showed me session 1 for November. I emailed them about that and they fixed it the next day and it showed me the other online sessions around the same time.

A from 12/5 interview. Don’t lose hope if your stats aren’t great. I’m OOS, 3.05 sGPA 3.31 GPA, 505 MCAT. They look at your whole application.

Hi, I interview on 2/18/23! Can anyone who has interviewed/ been accepted PM me on how to best prepare. Doing research on mmi format etc but would like advice from someone with first hand experience with the school!
Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that....How were your stats? I'm wondering if they reassess your scores after the interview..
LM Score 71.5.
4000 hours of paid clinical experience.
If I could guess why they rejected me, it was because I am non traditional and took a long time post graduation to apply. Additionally, though I have ample clinical hours, they were paid hours, which is not looked on favorably by some schools.
I know schools say they don't discriminate against non trad applicants, in my experience through 4 application cycles now, that is not necessarily true.

I agree with that. This is just anecdotal, but watching numerous co-workers apply in Texas for the past 3 years it seems that people who apply after their Junior year tend to do much better than non-trads with similar stats and more paid clinical experience. I must say that it is impressive to have the stats/experiences after three years of college so maybe that gives them a hand up. If you look at the TMDSAS matriculation data, 21 year olds also do significantly better than older students. People that apply at 21 could
have better stats in general than other age demographics though.
This is a bummer.

If I may ask, what age/age range (or other factors) would you guys consider to be in the "non-trad" category? According to UIWSOM's 2025 class profile data, the average age for the entering class was 26. I'm asking out of curiosity as this is my third app cycle and am not sure if I stand in the trad or non trad category. Thank you in advance!

Does anyone have any data as to what their post-interview acceptance rate is? I was offered an interview but am a little worried seeing as I am OOS with a low LizzyM score (61.1) and am significantly younger than the average age of their previous classes.

Here's a repost of the stats someone found for the post interview acceptance rates! Hope this helps!

I'm sorry guys but my neuroticism has peaked at an all-time high, so I've done some research in previous threads and number crunching for post-interview acceptance rates for UIWSOM. With 160ish students matriculating each year, my guess is the number of admitted students is probably similar year after year say around 400-500ish including those pulled off the waitlist, so we’ll go with 450, out of the 700-900 interviewed.

Class of 2026
4654 application, 790 interviewed, estimated 450 admitted (57% post-II acceptance rate)

Class of 2025

~5300 applications (⬆️26%), 955 interviewed (⬆️18%), estimated 450 admitted (47% post-II acceptance rate)

Class of 2024

~4200 application, 806 interviewed, estimated 450 admitted. (56% post-II acceptance rate)

Class of 2023

3980 application, 680 interviewed, 452 admitted. (66% post-II acceptance rate)

For my fellow 12/2 candidates waiting on a decision, 2 more weeks!! Now let me go step outside for some fresh air 😂 Best of luck everyone! 🙏

Here’s the only stat you need: don’t go to the interview = 0% chance

Does anyone know if they will automatically call you if there is an opening in the interview schedule or do you have to email them to be placed on a list?

Does anyone know if the school provides a laptop or an iPad or something as part of the tuition cost, I saw other schools provide that but I didn’t see anything for this school?

Neither of those are provided unfortunately.

Hello! Do you think the test styles at UIWSOM are a good preparation for what you may see on COMLEX-1?
My COMLEX is in 3 months, 4 weeks, and 2 days (but who's counting right) so I can't say 100% yet as I haven't sat for the exam. However, based on the amount of prep and practice board questions I've done up until now, I would say that you're asking the question backwards. The better way to think about it is: if I am prepared for the way the content is tested at UIWSOM, will I be prepared for COMLEX level 1? And the answer to that is...maybe. I don't think any medical school FULLY prepares you for level 1 to the extent that you could walk out of the last day of class and into the exam room for COMLEX. You will always be, in part, responsible for your own learning. Some schools likely do a better job at minimizing how much extra work you have to do to learn material de novo, but you'll need to constantly review material and assimilate it into your studying as you move forward in any medical program.

Our tests are 2 essay blocks + 1 multiple choice block. The 2 essay blocks seem stressful when you take your first couple of exams. But with time, you learn quickly what types of things are commonly tested in essay format. I think being able to write and explain concepts is much easier than multiple choice (where I am often stuck between what seems like 2 very correct answer choices, even though all MC questions only ever have 1 right answer). Writing sentences forces you to think, reason, and explain - all of which are important to do for COMLEX even though ultimately you're graded only on whether you got the correct answer. Since you can receive partial credit on the short answer exam blocks, it's also protective of your grade since you can earn enough partial credit to pass the exam, even if you didn't know any one topic completely. I actually enjoy short answer tests now!

Thank you so much! That’s really helpful cause I was worried about those short answer questions. And overall you’ve liked your experience at the school?

Hi, I am about a month away from my interview and wanted to come on here and ask for help. I have been out of school for a while and do not have anyone close to me that is able to give me feedback on medical school interview questions. Would anyone who has interviewed at UIW be willing to listen to my answered via zoom/ Facetime and give me feedback. I can pay for the help! Thanks

Do y'all know if the MMI has role playing stations or those actor based scenarios?

how are you guys preparing for the MMI, I'm not too sure how to prepare since this is my first MMI

Hi! If you've done an in person interview here would you mind DMing me? I have some questions about the day's schedule if you don't mind sharing and a little bit about how the MMI stations are set up. Thanks!
