Some quick updates on Baylor. We have a test almost every week. This week we’re going over breast cancer, receptors, inhibitors, monoclonal antibodies, polyclonal antibodies, anti-estrogenic medications, histology, pathology, differential diagnosis, DNA replication, DNA repair, the amino acids, which ones are polar, nonpolar, basic or acidic, and can be phosphorylated. In terms of histology, we have to figure out what we’re looking at what kind of stains we can use what the stains stand for and even consider the usage of immunohistochemistry. Our very first lecture on pathology and histology was eight hours long with 3 10 minute breaks. We also have to figure out which amino acids are essential, conditional, or nonessential. Afterwords we have to use those amino acids in a clinical scenario. Oh, and we also have to go over pharmacology, so going over pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics the mechanism of action of several medication’s on the heart rate, I won a trophy, vasculature, and the rate of elimination from the kidneys and liver. Oh, and we have to figure out the differences in acetylation in terms of metabolism of the drugs.
This Friday we have two exams. One at 10 in the morning and the other exam is in two in the afternoon. Both exams are 40 questions each.
I attended class today and studied afterwards and then total spent 12 hours actively learning.
Welcome to Baylor.
