Alternate listed...as it seems everyone who was not accepted has been. Are we heading for a 300 person unranked waitlist? Sounds kinda rough

I wonder what made them decide to not rank the WL. It gives us all some reassurance.

It seems maybe related that at least going by these boards they didn't reject anyone; obviously I don't know enough to conclude anything but I wonder if they just haven't done much of any sorting of people they didn't accept, especially since they didn't seem sure that they would be able to get decisions out as early as they have

I agree, especially since they gave decisions to those who interviewed late September — a lot of decisions made quickly! I interviewed 9/27 and did not expect a response so soon.

Do decisions come out only on Tuesdays? I interviewed on 10/6 so hoping for some good news 🙁

So alt list means we’re only reconsidered if someone withdraws their acceptance?
It could also mean they have not filled their class and they want to interview more people before they decide who gets some of the remaining spots. Could be you

Where are you guys seeing this alt list status? Interviewed 9/20 here and no email and nothing changed in my portal.

So for those interested, one of the interview webinars says they reject 10% of those they interview and their acceptance rate might be lower than USNWR data I guess as per this handout from last year's thread, but the numbers really don't add up.

Congrats to all those accepted today! Is anyone else unable to access the hyperlinked portion of the admissions decision on the status page? It seems to be a google doc but I don't think they shared it. May just be me though.
where is the admissions decision tab? Is it on the medonestop page?

I was put on the alternate list a few days ago. I guess in general, are people put on the waitlist because of a mediocre interview and/or mediocre letters of rec, or could it just be because of how competitive things are nowadays?

Forgot to post here but since it looks like they’re going back to earlier applicants, complete 7/25 OOS II 10/03 LM 69 if that data helps anyone 🙂

Hi all, I was fortunate to get an OOS II here but my interview was scheduled in-person. Unfortunately I do not have the finances for a plane flight nor the time to fly out of state for days due to work. Has anyone this cycle successfully rescheduled to virtual from in-person, and if so how? Hesitant to click the reschedule button on the portal until I know what I’m doing lol

Rather than clicking the reschedule button email or call to ask for your interview to be changed to virtual format. If there are no virtual spots available you will have to remember what your ultimate goal is, getting into med school, not keeping your current job.

Wysdoc, while your advice/opinion is no doubt valid, people need their jobs to eat and pay their rent. I think suggesting people risk their source of income for an interview that may or may not lead to an acceptance sounds tone-deaf to me. I would think carefully if I would want to go to a medical school that cannot accommodate the wish for a virtual interview, for equity reasons alone.

Good luck peakedtease, I hope the school will be able to change your interview format.

I do understand this financial crunch but if they say no OP may have to make a tough decision. I was a very poor premed too and had no intent to offend. Fortunately most schools are having virtual interviews still so I hope you can make it work, @peakedtease

No worries everyone, I didn’t take offense to what wysdoc said. Pinutzz does have a good point but I also understand where wysdoc is coming from. This is just an unfortunate situation as I had some recent medical expenses eat into my savings. I will attempt to call Monday and find out if I can reschedule for virtual. I saw on their website they have virtual available, and I think this was made in-person as that was what I clicked off for a preference. It is indeed my preference but circumstances change so I hope they can understand.

I think they’ll be accommodating because, as you said, they’re allowing virtual and in person based on applicant choice. Best of luck 🙂

I rescheduled my interview yesterday and they already approved it! Once you click the reschedule button it will pull up a checklist of how to request a reschedule, and it is not a permanent commitment to rescheduling your interview. The checklist will include an email you need to contact and a list of future in person and virtual interview dates they have available. You then email your top three preferred dates and they will reschedule you (most likely to your first choice like mine did).
